Not much good news

Wow, all the bad news today gives me a sad. Jennifer Hudson's family and now her nephew, the anchor who was killed might have been broken into through her doggie door,(that makes me sad since she loved her dogs so much) school shootings, Caylee is pretty much known to be dead, four cheerleaders die in a car crash, you name it. Good thing I'm not depressed...sheesh!

Sunday we went shopping at Silver Sands and got a few things but a lot of stores we loved are gone. The economy is so bad that hardly anyone was there and that place is always packed. Rather sad to me. It was nice though and later we got food from Fresh Market, which I love. I did get a purse from an unfamiliar designer. See, I had to say that just to be funny. Sounded all snarky didn't it? It's Jennifer Von Zeeland and I love it. I really loved the Michael Kors stuff but it was too expensive even on discount. A $400 purse? I'd feel guilty if I didn't stuff and mount it after paying that much. LOL

I have been so busy today but thankfully not overwhelmed. Test at school and I studied a lot thank you very much, quite a few articles to write, making the dogs' rice and chicken (R mostly did that), cleaning up, laundry....you name it. I am catching up at least. Weird thing is that I get cold at like 59 and lower and tonight it's 47 and I am not cold! Been feeling allergies today so perhaps I have a fever.

Okay, I'm rambling and so need to get back to work. :)

The Strangers

Well, I won't be buying this one after seeing it. Did it suck? Most certainly not, I loved it. Well then you ask, why not buy it cause I know you buy everything that comes out? It was depressing! It's like Last House on the Left. You watch it, it's one of those must-see movies of the 70's but will you watch it over and over? Not unless you're a sadist. I mean I knew how The Strangers would end but I do like a little light at the end of my tunnel. With that said, Liv Tyler's acting was superb. Hear a loud noise and does she overact? Not at all. In fact, it was her facial movements and that involuntary neck twitch that she did that was absolutely spectacular. I did like it, I loved it even. But I just can't see myself watching it a bunch of times unless I want to slit my wrists later. It's just that darn sad. I'll add it in with Last House on the Left, The Girl Next Door (not the teen/porn star neighbor movie), Heavenly Creatures (which I do love to rewatch) and Night Train to Terror, which is very similar to Last House on the Left. PS Why are the
70's movies so depressing and scary? This had that kind of feel to it.

Let's see....

...it's been a couple of days since I said anything. I know, you all missed me horribly. (I wish!)

We bought a Peticure to use on our dogs but it's not as easy as the commercials and the sales clerk told us. Swan still acts like satan when you get near her toes.

I am officially studying for my test on Mon and R is helping. I have the first 20 questions pretty much down pat but I have 30 more. I did learn a new fancy lawyer word - occlusion! I'm all impressed with that word. (watch me have misspelled it or something)

I got all overwhelmed the other day and I hate that. I felt like I had school to study for, articles to write, a house to clean, you name it and I felt like it had to be done. Much better now. :) I don't has a sad at least, just that overwhelming sense of frantic. It's all better now. I've decided I'll never finish all the articles so whatever. I think it's because I love how they've panned out to really make decent money and I feel I have to keep doing more and more but it's not like I really have to. Only WRG has actually quotas and deadlines so that's not quite so hard.

We have a krewe social on Fri night if it's not pouring since it's held outdoors. I guess we'll wait and see.

Bought a few movies and can't wait to see them. I know R is wanting to see Indy again and I am dying to see The Strangers.

That's it for now. :) I'll subject you all to mindless ramblings on another day.

Now they've ruined it...

Sex offenders in Maryland recently got a sign and letters for Halloween. The signs say, "No candy at this residence" and the letters tell them how they can start on their way to becoming a responsible citizen by not answering the door during Halloween.

No problem so far but WE put up a sign when we're out of candy. Just turning out the light doesn't work. So now I'm picturing concerned parents getting confused on the MD law and thinking our house is full of sex offenders. I know, it's silly but just consider the stranger things that have happened.

However, I am considering the fun parents can have with their kids this year in MD. Just think, in the old days it was the scary old witch lady in the house you wouldn't go near but now your parents can show you the houses to keep away from and there are far worse things than a scary elderly person who probably never harmed a fly.

A great time

We had a great time with friends tonight. We met at Pier Park and ate at Hofbrau Beer Garden which is obviously German food. It was my first authentic German food and it was delicious. Our friend had Jagerschnitzel and that was the best of all other than the potato pancakes which I love to death. I had some kind of rolled steak with saurkraut and these candied apple type things that were yummy. I also drank some of the beer out of some guy's stein. He was an employee and C knew him. I'm not a fan of beer but it was nice of him to share.

We then went to see Lakeview Terrace in the knick of time and we all loved it. Great movie! Then we hung out at Starbucks then walked around and chatted. That was fun. We were making fun of C's dog's name which is Tater. She was saying it wasn't a redneck dog name but come on! LOL You don't get more country than tater.

Now we're back home setting up our fireplace. Yes, we have an electric one but it's pretty. Let's hope this one doesn't break like our others have in the past but I did purchase the extended warranty so it's their problem if that happens. We might need it too since it's already down to 58 tonight and for me, that's nippy.

Got tagged

I got tagged today by Macky Planet one of my favorite blogs! So here are 8 random facts about me!

1. I stay up all night sometimes and sleep all day. I'm usually working during that time but I might be gaming.

2. I love using the pool in the middle of the night (if it's warm enough)

3. I love 70's music and disco.

4. I'm a list maker. I love cataloging books and movies and you'll always see a daily to-do list by my computer.

5. I can't imagine going back into the workforce and working for the "man" even though I do plan to finish my degree and do just that.

6. I never kick stuffed animals because it might hurt their feelings. (LOL)

7. Horror movies and books are my favorite.

8. I love foreign movies, mostly horror and indie films.

9. I take over 10 different vitamins per day.

10. I have been considering getting a small tattoo, definitely no color in it and just words. I have to figure out what I want it to say. (and I still have my tongue piercing in)

The rules:
1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
3. At the end of your blog post, you need to choose people to get tagged and list their names.
4. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged, and to read your blog.

These blogs are so much fun! These peeps are an interesting bunch! Let's hear from them!

Just stuff

I'm learning a lot about vitamins and stuff since I love visiting the Vitamin Store next to Starbucks. I learned I should be taking whole foods vitamins instead of synthetic ones. That's where I also learned about enzymes and probiotics. I'm not sure if it all works but let's just say I had the flu symptoms for 3 weeks almost and once I started taking the enzymes and probiotics my symptoms were gone in 3 days.

DS started paying less for submitted titles which sucks since I submitted most of mine for the last few months. I guess I'll go back to writing stuff like How to become a Mime in Viet Nam. I did get paid again today for my WRG articles for the month so that was nice since those are so much more research.

Did I say I got a B on my Human Behavior class test? Not bad for the harder of the two classes. Now I just have to do better in the easier class. Go figure!

Cuba

I want to travel to Cuba. I've always wanted to go and perhaps it's because I'm not allowed that makes me want to go that much more. Doing some research for an article I found out that a lot of Americans travel to Cuba. You just have to know how to do it. One person said that it was absolutely beautiful and not to glamorize a dictatorship but the area and the people were wonderful. I was thrilled that when we went to Mexico that you could see Cuba from the ship. Maybe one day.

Next door hot

I got to thinking that the cast from True Blood was what I call Next Door Hot. What I mean is that no one on the show is beautiful but they are, for the most part, hot. Sookie isn't beautiful but she's hot. Jason isn't either but he's hot. And Bill, well he's just hot but you get my drift. Kind of like they're hot because we're watching them but they're ordinary people hot. Like if you had a hot neighbor. Just something I've thought about.

Probiotics and multi-enzymes

Does anyone know anything about probiotics and multi-enzymes? Are you taking them? Are they working? I was in the vitamin store the other night asking about something for energy after having this flu that knocked me out and the clerk said they are a "must" for everyone. I've read online and they do seem to have very good reviews. Just curious if anyone I know knows about them.

My schedule sucks

I stayed up all night last night so therefore I declare that my schedule sucks. However, I did cook breakfast for R and that has to be some kind of "plus" in my favor. I made sausage, biscuits and eggs w/ cheese, onions and mushrooms. We watched some of Bridezilla before he had to go to work. I could call myself domesticated if I hadn't still been up. Do you have to actually get up to be domesticated or does it count if you just never went to bed? Something to ponder.

New advances in Lasik

For more than five years, LASIK technology surgery has helped over 12 million people be able to live life without contact lenses and glasses. Now, the US Military and NASA are using that same technology to benefit mission-critical personnel. With an all-laser form of Lasik, the Department of Defense and NASA are using this to correct the vision of their specialized personnel who face extreme conditions in their jobs. Today’s Lasik is far superior than the Lasik surgery of years past.

The newest and innovative Lasik surgery is now called iLasik and uses not one, but two lasers, which has improved on the old Lasik, making it safer to use. First, wave-front technology maps the person’s eye and its exclusive uniqueness. Then a super fast computer guided laser makes a corneal flap in the eye. After this flap is made, the wave-front mapping data guides the other laser to correct the vision. No longer does one have to depend on human hands guiding a blade, making this a much safer procedure. This combination creates a custom “fit” for the eyes.

After using the new technology, members of the military had 95% results of now having 20/20 vision and all of the naval aviators said that they would recommend the surgery to others. Find out more about LASIK information

The election

May I say that I am sick of this election? It doesn't matter which party I am choosing because I retain the right to keep that to myself. What I'm tired of is the mudslinging and it seems that opposite parties like to bring down the other side and it's sickening. Oddly, I can go on one forum and hear how they hate one side but go to another and they hate the other. It's like, I know who I'm voting for and your hateful links and stupid videos won't change my mind. Does anyone think it will? Okay, rant over but please, be nice to the friends you have with opposing views. You won't see me sending hate links to my friends that like the other party so please don't do it to me.

I should have been up

We had a tornado touch down 2 blocks from my house and I slept through it. Do you realize if I'd been up I could have taken pictures? Here is that article:

Direct link here

Those Bret Michaels pictures

These are from a cell phone so they're small and not that great but it's the best we could do since they left early. Otherwise, R would have had our camera with him and I'd be showing you awesome pictures.

Bret Michaels is here

Well, not like here in my house but at the place where R works. He's staying out there with his new reality show, Rock of Love Bus with Bret Michaels. I'm not this huge fan or anything but I do like his music and he seems like a cool guy. I do want some pictures though. R has met a few celebrities out there but Bret would be cool for some pictures. So far he just got a picture of the bus. We'll have to try to get a better one since this one was with his camera phone. I'll post them if we get some. :)

Bronchitis

I think I have bronchitis. I'm not sure but today hit me full force and I slept all day and even some tonight. I was coughing and just felt awful. It might have been all of the pollen though too. When it rains, the pollen gets worse and it finally rained today after a dry spell. I've been reading up on bronchitis and that's what it sounds like. However, what annoys me is being constantly told to go to the doctor or whatever. IF I have the flu or bronchitis, both are not helped by antibiotic and you just have to rest and let them run their course. In fact, both last over 2 weeks at times so I'm on track. It's not like I've been sick 3 months or something. Seriously people, cut me some slack. I'm taking my vitamins and taking it easy, what else do you want? I know, I'm grouchy. It'll pass.

Toes and actors

An odd title, yes? That's just how I do a post and combine things without calling it a "stuff" post. LOL

I broke another toe. What else is new? I'm telling you, we should cut them off now because it'll save me the pain. You could kidnap me like some psycho on Criminal Minds and threaten to break my toes and I'd be used to it. You could try to get spy secrets by breaking my toes and I wouldn't give them up. This time the culprit was my New York Yankees Reeboks. I kicked one, as usual. It shouldn't have been in the floor but I'd taken them off before a nap and there they were. I'll have to take a picture to add to my broken toe collection. I know you all can't wait to see.

We were at a shop today and in walks the guy that was on In the Heat of the Night. He lives here and his wife produces Damages. I could give you his name but who knows what people think about privacy issues. It was cool though. He seemed super nice too.

The plague

I swear, this flu stuff is never going away. I'm not sick but I'm still having headaches and once in a while, nightmares. I'm not taking any odd medicine so that's not it. Must be some kind of aneurysm or something. If it's the flu it sure is a bad one. One that keeps hanging on just enough to annoy me. I've been up all night but that was due to making some money and then playing my games. I have to have my game time at night to relax. Now it's 8 am and I'm heading for bed. Please help me pray that the dogs feel like sleeping too because right now they're barking at the other dogs in the neighborhood. Hopefully they need to sleep as much as I do. See you all this afternoon. *grumbles about odd sleep schedules*

Be still my beating heart

I just read an article in Entertainment Weekly that Stephen Moyer from True Blood actually has fangs. I mean they're just those extra sharp canines but still... Imagine how that made me feel. Oh well, here's his super hot picture, fangs and all.

Me, in print!

I am so excited. A few years ago I wrote a story for In Laymon's Terms after the untimely death of Richard Laymon. It's been a long time coming but the book is finally headed for print. Now I wonder if my writing was bad back then or if the misspelling of my first name on the table of contents is that way in the book but who cares? I'm thrilled! Check it out and let me bask in my thrills.

I has a sad

That's how I feel today and yesterday. Not sure why...perhaps it's the economy, perhaps it's because work is slow or I'm waiting on a couple of payments, maybe it's my test that wasn't as great as I thought but then again the class average was a 72 so it's not just me but still....
I'm sure it'll pass.
