New Wine

A lot of you know I collect wine bottles so I was thrilled when we went to Spirit Halloween and Rich found these awesome labels. I have a few bottles that have their own labels and other than me telling you all, who will ever know? I put up two this weekend that have the Red Blood and Zombie Virus labels and will eventually do them all. Since there are 8 labels, I can't do them all at once because I'd have to buy 8 bottles of wine and find a spot for them. (My hobby is getting a little much). Anyway, these are super cool and I thought I'd share.

BTW, I started out collecting only wine that had dogs on the labels and eventually moved on to what I consider unique stuff like the Marilyn Merlots and Vampire Wine. I'll take pictures sometime and share.

Warning - Adult Review - Pleasure Tops

I recently received the Pleasure Tops toy from Eden Fantasys and I have to say that I was disappointed with it. First of all, it was hard to get it to work right. You have to turn the dial just so to get it to even come on. I must have changed the batteries four times, thinking they were dead but it was in fact the construction of the toy itself.

Once it did finally work, the attachment gets in the way. I chose this thinking it was similar to The Cone but it's not. There is a unique attachment that would seem like it would be pretty cool. However, while it has the same vibration and that is pretty neat, it mostly just gets in the way in my opinion.

The good thing is that it is hypo-allergenic and made of a material that warms up to body temperature. I think if the construction were different it'd receive a much higher rating from me.

Sofia Vergara

I've found a new person I want to look like...Sofia Vergara. She is absolutely beautiful and I love to listen to her talk on Modern Family; her accent is beautiful too. Here is her picture as a natural blonde and as a brunette. She dyed her hair to look more hispanic. She is actually from Columbia, just as she is in the show.

Trespassing and Photos

Today we went to that place I was talking about where Rich found awesome abandoned buildings. We had to go over a broken fence and onto private property and boy was it fun. We got some awesome shots I'll upload to the site after I edit them and these great, stormy beach pictures. I'm including 3 of my favorite shots here that we did with the HDR. The pier one is my absolute favorite.

New Social Network

Beachout is a new social network coming soon that has a plethora of things you can do. Chat, leave comments on videos, upload videos, find others by age range, etc and many many ways to meet new friends online.

How cool will it be to be one of the first people to join this site? Well, right now you can sign up to be notified when things are ready to launch. They even have an informative video up that tells you exactly what all you can do. I thought the language chat translator sounded totally awesome!

Check them out and you might just be one of the first to join a new and innovative social site!

Pictures we took today

We took over 200 pictures today of abandoned stuff but these are the few we took of scenery while we were out. :)

Antique Coffee Grinders

I love coffee, you all know that. In fact, as much as you all know that I visit Starbucks, we also have a home unit that grinds and brews, etc. One thing I do not have though is antique coffee grinders. According to the site I am sending you to, they make the best tasting cup of coffee ever! Well, now you can have one of your very own just by visiting the site and checking out the lovely antique coffee grinders there, there is even a wall mounted one!

I was surprised at how affordable they are as well. I think they'd make a perfect addition to your home or a very unique gift for a coffee lover you might know. Check them out and consider purchasing a one of a kind antique coffee grinder for yourself or someone you love.

GK Scott

I have three Rolex watches. Sure, I got them in the Bahamas along with a Breitling but GK Scott sells the real thing. You can get a used Rolex that is restored to its original condition and at a fraction of the price.

Just think, you can own a real Rolex like the Daytona I have and know that it's the real deal. Unlike many brands, the Rolex doesn't go out of style and doesn't lose its value so it's an excellent investment as well as a piece of sheer sophistication. With GK Scott you can own something that will always be admired by others and showcase what good taste you have.

The Kindness of Photographers

I'm working on a site for abandoned places in Northwest Florida. I find abandoned buildings fascinating and love the whole urban exploration thing. I haven't done it myself much yet but it's definitely a photography hobby that both of us like. Well, since we just started we did not get photos of places like Miracle Strip being torn down or the Fiesta Motel but I found pictures online that were awesome.

Out of the four awesome photographers I wrote, all four wrote me within the same day almost, giving me permission to use their work. Jason Koertge, Cebo Campbell, Steve Sobczuk and Austin Dressman all were super nice and offered their work. I plan to give them all full credit for their gorgeous pictures when I have the site built. It's a hobby so it'll take me longer than normal.

Now we're no slackers. We actually have pictures of the old Bob Jones University before it was torn down, some Petticoat Junction stuff and a few others. I plan to go this weekend with Rich and take some more pictures of buildings around here.

I can't wait to show off these places!

ShopWiki is Expanding

ShopWiki is an awesome internet shopping search engine where you can find anything you want and all at one site! As well as being a huge online presence in the United States they are now expanding into other countries. Countries like France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK and Australia can now benefit from ShopWiki's vast database.

Another advantage of using ShopWiki is that they have a directory that can help shoppers know what to buy for certain people or even themselves.

So the next time you're at a loss on where to find something, give ShopWiki a try and see how convenient it is to use this free guide!

Overwhelmed

I am overwhelmed today. I got up super early but had no sleep so went back to bed and you guessed it, I overslept. I am finishing up a site, doing some paperwork for some personal business, I have a blog post to do (this is part one), I have at least 4 articles to do for one place, a few articles at another, etc. This is not counting normal housework stuff. Oh well, I think I'd rather be too busy than have nothing to do.

On a side note, Netflix got disc 1 of Holocaust back but the post office said it wasn't opened so they sent it back to me instead of disc 2. When I called them they are fixing the mix up but now disc 2 has a wait. WTF? Did people read I was watching it and decide to rent it? It didn't have a wait before.

Tramadol Online

I could have used this a while back. Remember when I was trying to find something for my back? Well, I could have gotten tramadol no prescription and it would have helped tremendously! I think it's important to allow people to get help when they need it. I don't mean those that abuse it and I'm not sure how you determine who will and who won't but those like me who genuinely needed help can find it at least.

Seacrest Wolf Preserve Pictures

Seacrest Wolf Preserve

Seacrest Wolf Preserve

Today we went to Seacrest Wolf Preserve. It's about a 40 minute drive from here and it's the most rare wolf preserve in the entire USA because nowhere else can you interact with the wolves, and I mean touch them, let them lick you and walk with them following close behind, beside you or ahead of you. Most places if you can even visit, you can't touch.

We hit a huge storm on the way but it subsided once we got to the preserve. However, you could hear thunder in the distance and like I told Rich, there's nothing like the sound of storms heard in the middle of the woods. It just sounds different. He laughed but I'm serious. It was extremely hot today but it cooled off a tad when the clouds covered the sun. The humidity was awful though.

With that said, it was a wonderful experience. There's nothing like having a wolf stand behind/over you on the logs you're sitting on or trying to lick your face. They have Gray, Arctic and British Columbian Wolves. My favorite was a black wolf named Shawnee. She's just a few months old and spoiled rotten. She tried to jump on me but they won't allow it really. I didn't mind at all! I can't remember what kind she is but she's in the first den with all the "friendlier" wolves. The other dens have wolves that are friendly too but have less interaction with you. They're more indifferent to your presence.

After the wolves we went to the smaller animal part where there are raccoons you can feed, arctic foxes you can pet, turkey, lambs, and skunks you can hold.

We do not have our pictures yet because the only time you can use digital cameras is in the small animal area. With the wolves you have to use disposable cameras. We are so not used to that. So they are at Walmart waiting to be developed. Once I have those we'll post them.

If you do visit you must wear long pants, closed toe shoes and no jewelry, ribbons, etc.; nothing the wolves could steal as a toy.

I highly recommend a visit if you're nearby and if not, please donate money to help out.

A Conversation About Zombies

Today we were headed to the wolf preserve (a whole post on that coming soon after the pictures are ready) and after Southport (locals will know where that is) we had no cell service. Here's a conversation we had:

Me: WTF am I supposed to do if there was a zombie attack? I have no cell service!

Rich: I think a cell phone is the last thing you'd need.

Me: Why? I'd need to call the authorities.

Rich: Why? Everything would be shot to hell, why would you call the police? You'd need guns.

Me: But not if we were the first to see them! We'd need to tell the others and how am I going to do that without cell service out in the boonies. And how do these people that live in these areas use a cell phone?

Rich: I guess they don't.

Why Not a Teaching Fellowship?

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Woodrow Wilson. All opinions are 100% mine.

The Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship is a program that gives recent graduates from college a chance to get a $30,000 stipend to finish a master’s degree and there are fourteen universities to choose from. As long as your field is science, math, technology or engineering (STEM), you may be eligible.

The requirements are as follows: You have to have graduated with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, shown a commitment and drive to the program and the goals it incorporates and complete a field-based master’s degree in teacher education.

What The Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship is seeking to do is prepare, recruit and retain teachers and have them be in the schools that need them the most. Fellows of the program have to commit to a three year teaching status in a high needs school, complete the intense master’s degree program that is part of the requirements for the program and get intensive support and mentoring in the classroom.

The Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship feels that one person can change the world and they are putting their money where their mouth is with this fellowship program. What better way to prepare yourself for a career in teaching than by being a part of this program? For more information visit www.wwteachingfellowship.org

Shattered Innocence on DVD

I am so excited that Shattered Innocence is on DVD now. For years I'd looked for this movie based on the porn star, Colleen Applegate, who committed suicide in the 80's. It was originally on CBS as a movie back in 1988.

Colleen Applegate was a teenager living in Minnesota (Kansas in the movie) who moved to California and ended up being a porn star named Shauna Grant. In the movie it was Lara Dawn. She got addicted to cocaine and between the issues she had with not being accepted by her parents, the drugs and depression she killed herself. It's a sad movie that I love.

It has the whole 80's feel to it but it's a great movie. I must have seen it 10 times now and at one time I had a copy someone made for me. Now I have a real DVD of it.

Learn from Home

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of USC. All opinions are 100% mine.

With school starting back two weeks ago I sure wish I could do it all at home like you can with USC Rossier School of Education’s MAT at USC. I’m not a teacher but if I were I’d totally take advantage of this program. You can get a Master of Arts in teaching degree and not even leave your home. Not only that but you get to study with a prestigious school like USC.

There’s a tuition reimbursement program, scholarships, an accelerated program for getting your degree in just a year, interactive online learning and the gift of becoming part of the Trojan family. What more could you ask for?

The USC institution has over 100 years in educating teachers and they have been ranked #9 in among all of the private schools in the entire United States. That’s not all. You also get full USC student status which means you can participate in graduation ceremonies and get free lifetime membership to the Alumni Association. So, it’s not like you’re just sitting at home and getting a degree from some unknown college; you get everything USC has to offer and the only difference is that you can do it right from your desk. Just check out the program information and see what you think.

The Mattress Hell

Okay so a couple of weeks ago I got this mattress from Amazon with a gift certificate from a customer. Who buys beds online? Well, with a big ole gift certificate, I do. It was this memory foam thing that shows up in a bag and once it hits air it expands. I loved it, Rich did not. In fact, he hated it. It was the very epicenter of near-divorce arguments. So finally I agreed to send it back under much duress.

I called Amazon, explained the situation because it did not fully expand to the 10 inches it was supposed to and we wanted that 10 inches. I should say I did cause otherwise it just sounds wrong.

They said to send it back and get a refund. Herein lies the problem. Said mattress is now a full queen sized mattress. They do not make boxes for them. No one does. Mattresses are sent in plastic now. I called UPS and they said a plastic moving cover was fine. Rich went to U Haul and got one. Today UPS came and refused to take it. They would not be responsible for it if it got damaged.

Fast forward to me being on the phone with Amazon, then UPS, then Amazon, then UPS again, then Amazon. For almost 2 hours I did this.

To make a long, harrowing story short, I finally found a nice person at our local UPS office that is going to make a box for it. We just have to bring it to the UPS store tomorrow. On the plus side, the place we bought our mattress from let us exchange it for a brand new one so if we get this one returned I can buy a Kindle!

Here are excerpts from some of the conversations:

Me: UPS won't accept this mattress
Amazon: You need to wrap it back up like it came.
Me: I can't. It's a full mattress now.
Amazon: Don't you have the original packaging?
Me: Are you listening? It doesn't fit now, it expanded.
Them: You need to find a box.
Me: There are no boxes! No one uses boxes for mattresses now.
Them: You said you'd keep it with a partial refund.
Me: NO I DIDN'T. I said I'd consider it but we decided against it.
Them: You need to find a box then.
Me: ARGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
