The Steam Team

I don't live in Texas but if I did I'd definitely give them a try. I do know a few people in Texas so if any of y'all are near Austin, they're considered the best home carpet cleaners Austin has to offer. Now personally, I'd love to try to get my air conditioning ducts cleaned and they are also considered one of the best air duct cleaning companies Austin has to offer. I bet my house would get less dusty if that was done even though we have a new air conditioning unit.

Even if you just need furniture cleaning tips or information on tile cleaning, they're the place to check out. They've been in business 25 years so they are definitely doing something right. Think of how clean you can get your carpet, tile, air ducts or furniture by trying them out. They don't call them The Steam Team for nothing!

Netflix Instant Queue on xBox

I am up early today (8:30 am) and decided to take a break from work and watch a movie on Netflix. We have the instant queue thing for xBox. I tried to watch a total of 5 movies in my instant queue that sucked so bad, here I am an hour or so later with not one finished. They were all horror movies and I know that they're not Oscar contenders but my goodness, can't one movie find a decent plot, non-shaky camera and someone that can act? The acting was the worst. I decided to give it up and just come back and work; they were that bad. I may try again later with something that I know is supposed to be good.

Medical Uniforms

If you're in the medical industry and need medical uniforms then you need to check out Blue Sky Scrubs. They have cheap uniforms for me and women and even a line of kid's scrubs! The neat thing is that they're fashionable as well as made from the finest materials so even with a good price, they look like a million dollars. You should also check out their medical scrub hats because they're designer hats for a unique look that'll set you apart from the others.

So if you need discount medical uniforms, and who doesn't these days, go see exactly what kind of quality you can get for a price that can't be beat. I'm not even a doctor and I think these are awesome.

How Do They Do It?

You tell me how we have just the two of us and 3 dogs and the house can look like a disaster in 2 days? I clean and clean and it never looks like some people's houses. J, I'm talking to you. I try to keep a clean house and it seems to be a losing battle. Now I don't scrub things with a toothbrush like my mom but maybe I should because her house is always spotless too. Mind you, she doesn't have the dogs but still. As soon as I finish up here I'm going to start cleaning again. Already loaded the dishwasher, put up the sodas and water, etc then I want to vacuum and mop. I guess after that I'll start on the living room; maybe write a couple of articles in between. I guess the house is pretty clean but I always try to look at it from what a stranger would see and it doesn't pass so off to clean I go...again.

CMT vs CMA's ...I'm all confused

I'm not this huge country music fan but I do like certain artists. I was flipping channels the other day and caught some of the 2010 CMA's and saw this awesome Brad Paisley song and wanted Rich to see it. So I tape it, or so I thought. I taped the CMT Awards hosted by Kid Rock. Imagine my surprise when Brad performed but not the song. I saw both hosted in 2010 so I got really confused. Turns out one is the CMT's and one is the CMA's. I am finally going to tape the right one tomorrow so I can see the song again. However, the other one with Kid Rock was pretty awesome because of his opening performance. Just for the record, I like Rascal Flatts, Lady Antebellum's song Need You Now, anything by Travis Tritt, the Dixie Chicks, Garth Brooks or Hank Williams Jr, Carrie Underwood and a few of the older artists like The Judds, Kenny Rogers (when he was with that group) and stuff like that. I mainly listen to rock but hey, I'm pretty diverse. I'm just glad I figured this all out before it drove me nuts.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Just had the most wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at Dirty Dicks with Rich, his mom and her friend. There are too many things to list that they have so I'll just include some of what I had myself.

  • crabbed stuffed mushrooms
  • oysters rockefeller
  • scallop jewels
  • she crab soup
  • cajun fried turkey
  • stuffed crab
  • prime rib
Now there was plenty more wonderful things but that's what I had. Here's a picture of the menu and if you click it, you can see the stuff listed.

Burberry Rain Boots

I live in Florida and it rains constantly here. I'd definitely have a need for rain boots but I don't see as many people wearing them in the south as I do up north. Now we used to visit New York quite often and they were definitely worn there. I have seen them in stores lately so I believe they're definitely finding their way south. However, I might just have to get some of my own because these Burberry rain boots are awesome.

I especially like the rain boot with buckle because you can wear that with absolutely anything pretty much and still look totally stylish because they're so darn cute. In fact, they don't even look like rain boots; they're that stylish. I may just have to check them out for myself because I hate getting my shoes and feet wet in the rain even if I do love storms!

My New Blog

Here's my new blog called Heard at Home. Since I did the post before this one about stuff at home I wanted to make a blog with no paid posts, no adult stuff and just have fun with it. Check it out and subscribe. I promise there are more posts coming. I wanted a few folks to sign up before I added more content.

Things Heard at Our House

Last night I'm reading my Kindle in bed. It has a night light and it's pretty bright. Or would that be a book light? Whatever, don't judge me. So Rich wakes up and says:

Rich: Does that light have to be so bright?
Me: I'm reading the bible and God said that if his light shines down and wakes you up it's a good thing.
Rich: Okay, whatever you say.

I really was reading the bible which led to this conversation later.

Me: Know what else I found in the bible? (I found Dothan in there earlier, like the city in Alabama)
Rich: What?
Me: Unicorns! I kid you not! (I go find the passage it's in since I bookmarked it to prove I'm not nuts)
Me: I wonder if they missed the Ark? Oh wait, this was mentioned after Noah's Ark. Wonder what happened to them?

So I go on Google and sure enough, Unicorns in the Bible is this huge search so it's not just me and I wasn't nuts at all.

I'm enjoying the Bible but I keep telling Rich that God was pretty angry back in the old testament. He smote a lot of people and seemed very disappointed with everyone back then. I kind of wish I'd started with the New Testament because the Old Testament is way hard to understand. I'm kind of lost. I just know that God had a lot of rules, he was angry a lot and there were unicorns. Now that's not being disrespectful to God because I am glad I am reading it and I bet he is too but was just surprised on a lot of things and again, no one ever told me there were unicorns! What gives?

Sarah Palin's Alaska

I admit it, I watched Sarah Palin's Alaska and I enjoyed it. I'm not going to go into my political views on here and even if I did, they might change in a week. The main reason I watched is the scenery. I saw the previews and had to watch it after I saw the bears fighting, the mushing, the mountains and the moose. Alaska is just so beautiful and I had to see the show and see it all up close. Plus, unlike some folks I don't hate her. I don't agree with everything (did someone mention wolf hunting from planes?) but she's not Satan so I had fun. Our Sunday nights are full as it is but it leaves us plenty to watch on Mondays when we have lunch or decide not to go anywhere.

Get Your MAT Degree Online

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of 2tor. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love the whole college experience - from home! I go to school but I'd much rather stay at home and get my degree. I think it's because since I work at home it's much easier to do things here rather than going out after getting ready, putting the dogs out, driving to school, finding a parking space...you get the picture. So maybe I’m lazy but I don’t think that’s it. I just like working by myself and being able to dress how I want, drink a soda and listen to background noise like the television or music. With USC Rossier School of Education’s program you can get a Master of Arts in teaching degree from your home! Now if only I could get an online degree from the prestigious school, USC. Imagine being able to get the same education but be able to do it without having to go to a brick and mortar school. I like that idea. I can save on gas money (not that it’s that far but still), I won’t have to worry if I’m not feeling well and I can just do it all online.

I can get to become part of the USC Trojan family, I can get my degree in a year with their accelerated program, there are tuition reimbursements and scholarships available and I don’t have to travel to California to get it. In fact, you don’t even have to travel past your bedroom. I can’t imagine anyone that is interested in a teaching degree not taking interest in this and finding out more about the program information.

Battle Los Angeles

I love these kinds of movies! Independence Day, Armageddon, Deep Impact, 2012...give me a disaster movie any day. I just found the International teaser trailer for this movie that comes out in 2011. It's called Battle Los Angeles and looks pretty darn good so far.

Tween Movies

Today when you join the Disney Movie Club you get all of your favorite teen movies ! There are favorites like High School Musical, the Hannah Montana movies, The Princess Diaries, The Ice Princess and more! They even have the Jonas Brothers movies. All you have to do is join the club, pick out your movies and just pay $1.99 each for the four movies you choose. After that you have a certain number of movies to purchase like with any other movie club. Considering that they have BluRay as well as regular DVD’s, it’s not a bad deal at all and if you have a tween in the house that loves Disney movies, it’s a great idea to join.

Wii up for Grabs

I decided to sell my Wii because I need the money more than I need it. Kind of sucks that a girl called yesterday saying she was definitely buying it and then today when I called her back she found one cheaper. Honestly, I'm not selling it for nothing. It comes with Wii Fit Plus, which sales for $99 by itself and a few other games. Plus, it's like brand new. Oh well, if it sells then fine and if not, it wasn't meant to be and I'll keep it. So if anyone wants it here's my ad on CraigsList.

Combat Boots

If you’re looking for combat boots then now you know where to get the best deals. They have every type anyone could need. From military combat boots to civilian and let’s not forget that they also have combat boots for EMS and fire personnel. They have a 365 day return policy, free shipping and a free return policy so what more could you want? Well, how about great prices? They also have excellent prices on their combat boots and even ship to APO addresses free as well.

I honestly love how some of the combat boots look nowadays. R wears a lot of the boots and they’re very nice looking and hold up quite well too. I guess a few years ago civilians didn’t wear them too often but now they go with just about anything. Heck, I love any kind of boot pretty much and seeing these on guys look really hot. The other great thing about combat boots is that they’re well made and seem to last quite a while. I think R has bought about 2 pairs since he first started wearing them. The point is, if you want a great pair of combat boots at a great price, you can find them!

Carnival Splendor

After reading about the Carnival Splendor fire I guess we're fortunate that our worst cruise didn't happen when we got fogged in while at the Port of Mobile. I thought that sucked pretty bad but at least we got to go another time, not to mention that Mobile is close enough that we could come home in 3 hours, unlike when we went to Tampa or Orlando to leave out.

At least they're hooking these folks up with some sweet deals. Money back on this cruise plus a free one and transportation money, etc. All we got was an on board credit but at least we weren't stuck on a ship for 7 days with no hot food, etc.

Glass Sinks

I love how glass sinks look. I’ve always thought they were so elegant looking and always wanted one for the bathroom. Heck, I’d love one in each bathroom! Although we remodeled our main bathroom a few years back, we didn’t replace the sink so that’s our next project somewhere down the line; new glass sinks and a vanity. We replaced the tub with one with jets and all that and did the walls in ceramic tile and got one of those neat toilets with the double flush buttons. However, now we need a new sink and vanity to make things complete and I know just the place to go!

Target Black Friday Ad

I noticed there were a lot of searches for the Target Black Friday ad so I just had to see what the fuss was over. It seems that Target will have some appliances for $3 each and HDTV's for $298. Not bad at all. I don't think a lot of people have money this year so those are really good prices. You can find the ad here and see what all they have. There are some great DVD prices as well but most of the ones they have we already own.

NESCAFE Dolce Gusto Machine

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Nestle Dolce Gusto. All opinions are 100% mine.

With the technology of Krups machinery, the new NESCAFE Dolce Gusto machine uses a 15-bar pressure, which is what you find in coffee houses.  You can make latte macchiatos and cappuccinos right at home and get the same authentic Italian flavor because with this machine you get the frothy milk and crema layer that not all machines can reproduce. Most machines have just one bar of pressure, 2 at the most.

What I like most is that you can create hot and cold beverages made from 100% Arabica beans for the best possible flavor. I mostly drink iced coffees so a machine that makes a coffee house tasting drink that's cold is absolutely perfect. I also love the many varieties you can choose from: Caffè Lungo, Espresso, Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato, Mocha, Caffè Americano, Iced Cappuccino and Chococino. We mostly drink something with mocha or caramel so these are perfect for when you want to brew up something special at home. They even come in gorgeous colors such as candy-apple red (my choice), creamy white and sophisticated black.

These can be found at places like Sears, The Bay, Home Outfitters and my favorite, Walmart. For more information visit http://www.dolce-gusto.ca

Or visit NESCAFE

Now I know why the world likes soccer

Tonight R's mom took us out to dinner and the restaurant we were in had an UEFA game on. I think it was Milan vs Real Madrid but I'm not sure. Anyway, now I know why everyone watches soccer...it's the hot guys!

I'm telling you, if I have to watch hot, sweaty guys kick a ball then I'm all over it. I mean I know David Beckham is hot but these guys were really hot too. I can't find pictures of these guys since I can't figure out which game I was watching. All I know is I copied down UEFA Soccer ACM (academy?) and RM. Since I can't grace you with their pictures I'll just have to share David Beckham's picture instead but trust me, it was worth it.

I'm normal today

Today I am a normal person. Why, you ask? I was up at 10:30 AM! I started on this normal regimen by getting my Starbucks decaffeinated and having one of those relaxing teas near bedtime. I went to bed around 3 AM but I did read on my Kindle for an hour. Nevertheless, I woke up at 10:30 and actually got out of bed instead of rolling over for more sleep. I'm excited to be up so early!

Here's my blog on Kindle just because I think it's exciting whether anyone purchases it or not. I wonder if Amazon removes you if no one ever buys it? Like one day they'll send a letter dashing my dreams by saying they have removed my item from their store.

A blog on Kindle

I absolutely love my Kindle and seeing that a friend has her blog published on Kindle, well...I got to thinking and yes, I did it too. Now I realize probably no one will buy my blog but hey, if one single person does then I'm over the moon with joy. It's like I have always told Rich, I want to run for something one day just so I can see that people actually voted. I wouldn't care if I was that candidate that had 24 votes out of 700,000; it still means 24 people voted. See how I think? I think my downfall is that I do paid blog posts too but hey, I gotta make a living and believe it or not, those really help out sometimes. They may not pay as much as freelance writing but they do make for some nice change.

Anyway, maybe I'll do a blog on something exciting that has no paid posts at all and publish it later on down the line. For now, my half blog - half paid blog will have to do. Anyway, here's how it would look on Kindle.

The Walking Dead Review

I have been looking forward to this since Rich first saw the trailer and showed it to me. Since then I've been counting the days till the premier and boy was I not disappointed.

The show was absolutely awesome. I loved the storyline, loved the characters and other than one part that particularly bothered me, which I won't mention for those that haven't seen it yet, it was one of the best shows I've seen in a very long time.

I'm a big fan of Lennie James so I was delighted to see him in the show. Here's a trailer of it in case you've been hiding under a rock and missed it.
