Shrimp Dip

I love this little easy to make shrimp dip. It's fairly inexpensive and done in a jiffy.

Needed:
  • 8 oz of cream cheese
  • hot sauce
  • 1/2 cup of shrimp (canned, fresh or frozen)
Just soften your cream cheese until you can easily add ingredients and stir it thoroughly. Add your 1/2 cup of shrimp, a few dashes of hot sauce and any seasoning you like. I used garlic salt sometimes, pepper or sea salt. Don't over salt because your hot sauce will typically have a salty taste to begin with. Stir and refrigerate. Serve on any type of crackers you love or on your favorite veggie. I use Monet crackers or Ritz crackers.

Price Pfister Ashfield

Some of you know that we recently bought a new bathroom faucet with all of the bells and whistles. This one came with lights and one of the free flowing type of faucets. However, it was a piece of junk and we had to return it. Now had we gone with the Price Pfister Ashfield product we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

The Price Pfister Ashfield product line has everything you need in any kind of faucet. From kitchen faucets to bar prep faucets and more - you can find what you need. They're excellent quality, they fit right (something ours had an issue with) and look elegant.

70's Books

There are a few books I'm looking for that I read as a child. I've found a few and many are scholastic books. However, I can't quite find the others and some of them I'm unclear of the titles, etc.

Found: Irma's Big Lie and What the Witch Left

Not found:
This book I thought was called The Squirrel That Went to Church but the only thing I can find is The Chipmunk That Went to Church. Heck, maybe it was a chipmunk - the dates are right at least.

Something I thought was called Summer Friends. This one had a horse I think and it was about two girls who were close friends but one was from France I think. I could be wrong.

This book about a ghost cat. I know, that's a lot to go on.

These books about famous people and their childhoods. I remember reading about Annie Oakley and Betsy Ross but when I look online I find many that can be the books I want.

So, while it's easy to get all of the Judy Blume books, and I have, these are much harder to find. I also used to read Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys and Little House on the Prairie but all of those are fairly simple to locate.

Oh, there is also one that may be more in the early 80's about a girl whose sister has leukemia and all I remember is that she didn't like her sister's boyfriend or husband and her sister got nosebleeds a lot. I think she eventually died.

Direct TV

I bet none of you or just a few of you know that I used to work for a satellite TV service. It was shortly after leaving the cable industry. Well, that just means I have an inside look at services such as Direct TV and satellite TV providers. What I remember most is that I had a plethora of awesome stations to watch and they were all in high digital quality. For instance, I never even knew about Lifetime Movie Channel until I saw it on satellite TV. Since I could watch TV all day, I’d sit there and watch Lifetime movies when I had nothing else that had to be done.

Another thing I learned is that during hurricanes and bad weather, which we have a lot of in Florida, the satellites were up and running long before cable companies so those that had dx3 and dx3 direct tv had their viewing pleasure a lot sooner than anyone else. Another neat thing is that with their Premium package, there are over 170 HD channels available and let me tell you, cable can’t compete with that at all. And just so you know, local channels are available so don’t let anyone tell you differently. They reach 99% of the homes so you don’t have to worry about missing your local programming. Check out Direct TV and see what you’re missing.

Memorial Day

So this year we were invited to a big Memorial Day party at the beach and it sounds like a blast. Usually I'd want to get our pool open and do some grilling out but this year a party it is. I was just telling Rich the other day that we live in one of the most beautiful areas in the world and we should take advantage of that. We haven't been swimming at the beach in ages and we haven't taken beach pictures since last year I think. Perhaps this weekend we'll get our chance. I'm really looking forward to going. What are your plans?

Homemade Dog Food

This post brought to you by homemadedogfood.com. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love feeding my dogs homemade dog food because they have allergies and regular dog food seems to only make things worse. With Homemade dog food we can not only know what goes into our dogs' food but we can ensure that it is safe and natural.

I found an awesome site that let's you view an Easy cooked dog food recipe and you can find more recipes. I definitely want to try the one they have there because it is very similar to what we already give our dogs. It includes white rice, beef, eggs and a supplement so that your dogs get all of the vitamins and nutrients they need.

With so many dog food recalls lately, it is nice to know that I can prepare something at home for my dogs that they'll enjoy, is healthy for them and is easy to do. What more could you want? For one thing, no more running to the store because you're out of dog food because you can make this in advance and store what you're not using. I know my dogs are going to be so excited with this new recipe!

Broadway Playbill Project

I love anything Broadway. So a couple of years ago I put together this playbill thing. I love how it turned out and although this isn't the best picture of it, it looks awesome. Just buy some of your favorite playbills off of eBay (or from me because I have tons left) and put it in a frame. It can be tricky to keep them all straight while you're working but the end result is an inexpensive Broadway piece.

Technical Stuff

Why is it that everything you do that has to do with a printer, router, modem or whatever has to be the biggest headache in history?

  • We moved the printer and so of course it's missing a driver now. I had to spend an hour re-downloading everything and reinstalling the printer then the missing driver.
  • We got the free router from Comcast and hooked it up and the DNS server numbers are off so we can't sign in to eBay. If you want help with that, it's past their tier 1 support and you have to pay for it. So we either don't sign in to eBay, use our own router, which we have but that's beside the point, or go online and do what some person said worked for them.
  • Since we changed routers our Hulu account wouldn't stream videos right because, you guessed it, the DNS server numbers had to be changed. Fortunately the customer service there is awesome and he had us up and running in about 5 minutes.
My point is, we didn't do anything major. We changed a router and we moved a printer. However, that all piled about 2 hours of work onto my regular day. That's not counting my time on the phone with Comcast about the eBay fiasco I haven't fixed yet. I should have majored in IT stuff in school.

Fort Lauderdale Auto Accident Lawyer

I have been in tons of accidents in my lifetime and most of them were not my fault. Sometimes if you're in an accident you may need help from a lawyer so that you can get the money that is due to you. If you live in southern Florida, you may want to check out a Fort Lauderdale auto accident lawyer.

For instance, do you all remember that wreck we got into a while back where the guy on the bicycle hit us? Well, that wasn't even our fault yet he still had a lawyer and got a settlement. Fortunately, our insurance covered it all but my point is, if he hadn't had a lawyer he'd have gotten nothing. It didn't hurt us since the insurance deemed it his fault and made a settlement offer but he still got a bunch of money.

Now what if you were in an accident and got hurt and it wasn't your fault? Wouldn't you want to seek justice and get some kind of compensation for what happened to you? That's why it is important to have a lawyer in many kinds of accidents, especially if you are hurt in any way. Otherwise, you could be out a lot of money paying for injuries that you didn't cause. Don't be afraid to get what should be coming to you by having an accident lawyer that can help you out, without money coming out of your own pocket.

New Orleans!

We haven't been to New Orleans since 1999 and I am ready to go back. What better time to go than during the World Horror Convention in 2013? It's in June and is going to be at the Hotel Monteleone, which is quite exquisite and perfect for this type of thing since it's (a) supposed to be one of the top haunted hotels and (b) an official literary landmark.

It's not the cheapest hotel so we better start saving but I do really want to go and I think it'd be an awesome trip. I'd get to meet tons of authors and enjoy our time in New Orleans. Here is a picture too!

A blast from the past

I had found my old site a while back and was looking at our trip to New Orleans back in 1999 but it was gone. A friend suggested trying a wayback machine and I found it. So here is my little post about our trip to New Orleans. I'm using this because the Horror Convention is going to be in NOLA in June of 2013 and we're going to try to go. :) PS I'm not sure why I used all italics back then.

Our first stop on our trip was to Biloxi, Mississippi. We had reservations at the Beau Rivage Hotel and let me tell you..it was breathtaking. The whole inside is like a mall with stores, restaurants, a casino and tons of flowers and trees. We had valet parking every time we went anywhere and our room was on the 26th floor. We did do some gambling and won about $150 but it is so easy to put that money right back into those slots. Our room had a view of The Gulf of Mexico and we arrived on the day of The Blessing of the Fleet. That was gorgeous! l'll post pictures when I can. The restaurants at Beau Rivage were delicious and our service couldn't have been better.

Well, New Orleans certainly was different. l must say that Lake Pontchartrain is beautiful. We went to The French Quarter the first day and although it was so different that we'd thought, we still had fun. Jackson Square and St Louis Cathedral was beautiful. We also took a tour of the Garden District and saw Anne Rice's home and Trent Reznor's home (Nine Inch Nails). That was really fun. On the 2nd day we went to the New Orleans Audubon Zoo. It is so beautiful in there. l believe l remember that it is approximately 300 acres. Truly worth seeing. We headed home that day but had a super vacation. The weather started getting bad the last day and driving home turned out to be an adventure all its own. It ended up taking us 7 hours to get home but being blown off of the highway might have had something to do with it. Anyway, we made it home safely and look forward to next year's vacation.

Another Feast or Famine

I've always said that I either have no work or a lot of work and fortunately, I'm at a lot of work this week. I did approximately 15 articles for one company this weekend, 16 for the last two days for another, I have 15 coupon blog posts to do and another 8 with another company.

This is great though. I work better under pressure anyway and I don't procrastinate as much. Plus, the money flow is much better for obvious reasons. I'm very thrilled and grateful to have this work. Now, back to my last one for today for one of the companies I do freelance work and then to start on the coupon blog posts.

All Star Glass

All Star Glass is the fifth largest auto glass company in the entire United States. They started in 1977 and was founded by Sam Scharaga in San Diego, California. Now, All Star Glass has 30 company owned glass centers. What’s great is you can call them any time of day or night and reach someone to give you information, schedule an appointment or discuss your needs for auto glass. They provide award winning, free mobile service and are fully licensed and insured. Since they support national insurance companies, you don’t have to worry about how you’ll find the money to pay for an auto glass replacement. Just give them a call and let them take care of you.
