Miscellaneous Stuff

I had oral surgery on Monday and boy did that suck later. Having it done wasn't that bad but later on it sure did hurt. My jaw still hurts too!

Went to a neat krewe party on Saturday night and I sure would love to have their back porch area. Screened in pool, bar, television, tons of furniture, bathroom and right on the waterfront. Love to have an area like that to relax in. Maybe one day.

Still working on a new site which I just linked to. It's not done but I have been having fun doing another site. I was going to start on the editor position with the krewe but it'll be after the first of the year like originally since my oral surgery got in the way.

I forgot to mention on the trip when I talked about the rocking of the ship that it was so bad they couldn't have the dancers perform the first night. The cruise director said it was too dangerous for them. That's how bad it was. Now with that said, we had an awesome trip I'm just saying that the weather on the ride down wasn't that great. They even closed the decks near the balconies. If things work out we want to book another and I'd love to go back to Mexico but we're thinking not only Cozumel but Belize and some other places too this time. I want to see the huge ruins. We only saw a small one in Cozumel. We'll see how it goes though. We have plenty of time to decide that.

That's about it other than I am freezing! It's 51 outside. I miss the warm nights but at least it's nice in the daytime. Oh, I am reading:
Here's the Story by Maureen McCormick
Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and the Musical Rent by Anthony Rapp
Just After Sunset by Stephen King
Cross by James Patterson
They're all good. I have so many more books to start and can't wait.

After Christmas

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. We had a great one! Tonight we had a krewe party at someone's house and we had a very nice time. I start next week as the editor of the newsletter and have to get with them on that. The weather here is perfect (for you folks out of the area). Right now it's 2:30 am and it's still 70. The only bad part is the fog. We've had the worst fog lately. I'll take it over the cold though.

Blitz pulled a Marley

I think by now you all know which twin is the troublemaker. Tonight we had to go out for a while and when we got home we heard a dog barking in the bedroom. We knew we'd put them all outside when we left. Have you all seen the Marley and Me trailer where he bursts through the screen door? If you haven't I just linked it above. That's what Blitz did. He burst through the screen in the bedroom. They were these expensive screens that block the sun but you know what? It's rather funny so we had to laugh. Go watch the trailer, it makes me tear up though since, well if you've read the book...

Fun Day at Sea and then home

Wednesday was fun day at sea which means we just sail back really slow. We saw a few of the shows which I always love and three comedy shows. I also won at trivia again but all I got was some Carnival playing cards. LOL

Sometime during the night I had a nightmare and yelled, "I'm drowning, I can't reach it" and woke Rich up. Too funny.

We arrived in Port Canaveral on Thursday morning and had to wait until around 9 to leave but as always, got right through customs. They didn't even look at our declaration or search anything. Had our baggage taken out for us to load in the truck, stopped at Petco since we don't have one here (loved it) and ate a small breakfast at McDonalds. Drove home and that took about 6 hours.

Some miscellaneous stuff:

The televisions feed out of Denver and I saw one of my customer's commercials on there. (small world)

There was a girl on board who sounded like Minnie Mouse. She was hilarious. Later Wed night she was really drunk and kept trying to get everyone to dance with her. I thought one lady was gonna fight her because she kept hitting on her husband.

I got sun while on board. There's just something cool about getting a tan a week before Christmas.

We came home and the weather was/is perfect. It's 73 outside right now.

Will post pictures as soon as I have time.

Nassau finally

Tuesday we finally got to Nassau. (btw, I'll post a link to pictures once we have them ready)

I love Nassau! I love the straw market, I love Atlantis, I love the beaches. First we went shopping since they close a little earlier. I take that back, first we saw a Starbucks (they have 6 there now) and then went shopping. We got 2 Rolexes, a Breitling watch, a Dolce and Gabanna purse and a pair of Dolce and Gabanna sunglasses. I still have my Rolex from when we went in 2005 and yes, it still works great. I was thrilled with my purchases. I would have gotten more purses but seriously, I don't use mine often enough to keep buying more and more.

We were then going to go on the submarine excursion we'd booked. It goes underwater so you can see the reefs and fish crystal clear but guess what...the submarine had mechanical difficulties and we had to get a refund on our deposit. Last time we were going on the glass bottom boats they had bad weather so we missed out again. Instead we took a taxi tour of the island all by ourselves. We got a great deal too because most charged $20 per person IF you could get 12-14 people. If we went alone it was $60. This guy offered us a two hour tour alone for just $50 total.

We went by this Sheik's house that is like 2 blocks long, a few more celebrity houses, Atlantis, the beaches, markets, the Queen's Staircase, etc. He was super nice and gave a great tour and we didn't have to share it with anyone.

We did a little more shopping, getting some t-shirts and stuff and then used their WiFi hot spot to check e-mail. Got back on the boat since main street closes after dark anyway. I forgot that on the timeshare thing the first day we also got free lunch which was an authentic Bahamian lunch of grilled chicken, slaw and rice. I'm not a huge fan of Bahamian food but it was good. I've had the conch too and it tastes like oysters to me. More to come later. :)

Monday - Port Lucaya (Freeport Bahamas)

Monday we arrived in Port Lucaya which is Freeport, Bahamas. What is neat is that they have pink sand on their beaches. It's white with tiny pink sand in it from the shells. We brought some home since we have a collection from places we've visited.

This stock photo doesn't truly show how beautiful it is. Anyway, we did some shopping and they had one of those timeshare tours where you get a bunch of free stuff if you go. Since we do the majority of our sightseeing and shopping in Nassau we decided we'd do it.

We could have actually got a timeshare there. The per month fee with no money down was totally affordable. However, we didn't want to make a 10 year commitment on something that serious. But for $143 a month it could have been ours. We could have gotten free excursions or massages if we'd had time but we got 3 bottles of rum and 4 t-shirts just for hanging out there an hour.

Just like last time there were very expensive fish swimming right in their marinas. Fish we'd have to pay top dollar for to put in our fish tanks. The tour girl (who was gorgeous) said they liked fried chicken and would come up to the dock to eat it. By the way, she bought my Ed Hardy necklace off of me since I had originally got a couple extra to sell on eBay. LOL Oddly, we found no Ed Hardy knockoffs in The Bahamas at all.

Here's some neat trivia...gas in The Bahamas just went down to $3.60 per gallon and since everything is imported from Florida, milk is $6.79 per gallon.

Day two-we set sail

Sunday morning we checked out of our hotel, ate at Cracker Barrel again and headed for the port. Getting on the ship was no problem whatsoever and our luggage we had checked in was even at our room in no time at all. In the past we have had to wait for hours.

We set sail at 4:00 PM and got to see the dolphins again but this time they played beside the ship instead of in front of it. We went to our dinner at 8:30 but before that they had a meeting on shore excursions. Those are usually pretty fun and given by the cruise director. He's the same one we had before and from Wales. Well, never sit in the front row of anything on a ship. He asked who had a capers (that's the cruise itinerary for each day) and I had one. He pulled me on stage and I had to walk out like a model, etc. This totally makes up for the hairy chest contest R entered last year. Worse, they show all these shows in the rooms so it was looped every 20 mins or so which means not only did the audience see it, so did everyone in their rooms. For the rest of the cruise I had people coming up saying they'd seen me on stage. Even our dinner mates said...oh you were on stage! LOL

We saw another small show later and went to the disco and Michealangelos which is another music bar. The band in Michealangelos were awesome. They're called Blood Power and you can find them on YouTube. They're from the Phillipines and do cover songs like Guns N Roses, Pink Floyd, Journey, etc. Awesome stuff!

The worst part of the trip was that we hit some high winds so the ship was rocking so bad that people were getting sick. I've never seen one rock that bad. I lost my sea sickness patch so I had to get some of the seasickness pills from the purser's desk but those helped out a lot.

Day one

Our day started good. We arrived at the hotel, which was very nice! We went ahead and ate at Cracker Barrel right next door before going to our room since the restaurant was closing at 10:00 PM and we had arrived at about 9:30 PM. (we lose an hour from our city once we pass Tallahassee). Dinner was good. Went back to our room and I decided to shave my legs with a new razor. Huge mistake. Let's just say by the time I stopped the bleeding because I nicked myself, it looked like someone had been murdered in the bathroom. I cleaned it up of course but R wanted to make sure they saw me when we checked out the next day. LOL Okay, so this part isn't that exciting but I'm doing this in days so as not to bore everyone with a huge post.

We're home

We're home and I have much to share but it'll be at least tomorrow before I decide to write anything.

I R Here

We're finally in Port Canaveral. The hotel Suzy got us is gorgeous. We got a late start since I goofed off before I got ready to go and the drive was a little over 6 hours. We just ate dinner at Cracker Barrel. If we get arrested it's cause we blew threw a toll booth since we didn't have correct change. Who puts a toll booth up without a human in it? At least the car in front of us did the same thing since no one had any coins. We're spent them at the last 4 toll booths. It's in the 60's here which is great since it's in the 40's at home. We sail out tomorrow at 4 pm. I'm fixing to watch some SNL and chill a while. I'm ready to go but I wish we were going to Nassau first instead of Freeport. I am ready to do some shopping! See you all Thurs!

We're outta here

We're all packed and ready to head out tomorrow. I'll so miss my doggies and pets. But, this time on Sunday we'll be in the middle of the ocean so that's pretty cool. I can't wait to go although I don't care for the drive down or back home. I love road trips but just the short ones. I like being there then being home. I wish I could wiggle my nose and make that happen. Or maybe a handy time machine! Yeah, that's it! Anyway, I won't miss the cold weather. It's 38 outside right now and this is freaking Florida. Watch it totally snow or something while we're gone. I mean, it did just snow in New Orleans so it could happen, it has before. We'll be back Thursday. We have someone housesitting in case there are any robbers reading and we have a security system and dogs! So there! See you all soon!!

A great deal and a not so great deal

I had to go to The Vitamin Shoppe since we were almost out of the vitamins we get and that adrenal fatigue fighter. They had the once a day whole foods vitamins in a different brand that is normally $87.99. That was not a typo. Anyway, it expires in Jan (which is plenty of time for both of us to take them all) so they were 75% off and we got them for $22. I also had a $10 coupon so those and the other stuff came to $112 at first then after all was said and done we paid $40.77. You can't beat that. I love deals like that!

Now for the screw me. Since fuel went up the cruise lines are all charging up to $10 per person per day as a fuel surcharge. I called Carnival since fuel has dropped and their rules are that fuel has to be under $70 per barrel for 25 consecutive days for the price to change. Guess what? Due to hurricane Ike, they are dropping the fuel surcharge as of the 17th of Dec. Guess what? We get back HOME that day! I was pissed. The manager said most people are mad but the corporate president won't let them change a thing and all we can do is write and complain. That's $72 which isn't a lot in the grand scheme of things but $72 would pay for our fountain cards or be a nice credit in the stores on board.

Blitz thinks it's summer

Today it was pretty nice weather. It got somewhere in the 60's or so and we had the doors open to let the fresh air in. Blitz comes running in soaked to the bone and there's a trail of water from the pool, down the deck to the deck that leads to the house. I can't believe he jumped in the pool in the middle of what I call winter. Even if the temperature was nice the water is still freezing cold!

History Rocks

I'm not a huge history buff unless it's about Nazi Germany or Jonestown but we accidentally found this show tonight on History Channel and it's awesome. All of the events are pop ups with just songs from that era. Like the Jonestown Massacre had Don't Fear the Reaper and the Jimmy Hoffa story had Taking Care of Business. It was awesome. We found out there's more than what we just watched of the 70's tonight. There's also the 60's and 80's. We'll have to check out the schedule and make sure to watch it. Here's a video from the 70's to check out if anyone is interested so you can see how it works. It was all super interesting. I didn't know that the Concorde flies faster than the earth rotates so if you travel from the US to London you get there sooner than you left. How cool!

Yay

A great deal & a great dinner

Yesterday coming back from my dentist appointment we noticed a store that had a sofa and loveseat set out so you could see it. Ours has really been needing a forever home by the road so we figured if it was an ungodly cheap amount we'd get it. We stopped to look at it and lo and behold it was the exact amount I'd decided we should pay. Let's just say it was about a fifth of what we paid for our set years ago. '

We asked Chris and Jasmine if they wouldn't mind sharing their truck to bring it home and they came over and helped take the old one out and bring in the new ones. So, we took them to dinner because I don't think all four of us have ever done that and it was high time.

We went to the Baja Grill and it was outstanding. We expected it to be more casual but it was one of the most beautiful restaurants inside. Lots of art deco and Christmas trees. The food was awesome so I definitely want to go back sometime and try their 38 hour marinated ribeye.

So, it was an excellent night tonight, we had fun and the sofa and loveseat and great.

Great idea

Tonight we stopped by Mellow Mushroom to have dinner and they were packed. I mean, PACKED. I asked our server why and she told me how they were in between trivia games. What a great idea. Trivia night was slam packed busy and of course everyone ordered food. The winners of each round of trivia got a $25 gift certificate. We stayed and played and did pretty well but one family was really dominating the whole thing. I'm so competitive that it annoyed me that we didn't win. I always win trivia games on the cruises and at Christmas parties. Oh well. What I did get to do is drop off a ton of pens since each person had to write their answers down. Free advertising!

Just one more week

Just one more week of school left in this semester. I still have two tests and then I'm done till sometime in January. It sure did pass by fast but it helped that I had pneumonia because I was out a lot. I have an A in one class and the other class well, not an A but I'll pass it at least. LOL

Help a military family

Sears has a wonderful program called Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry. What this does is allows you to make a difference to the many members of the military that may need help this holiday season. Not only is your contribution a wonderful holiday idea, you’re giving a hero the help they need. Sears originally created this program through joint efforts with non-profit organizations but this year anyone can help as well. On their site is a handy place you can contribute. So far there has been over 681,879 contributions and there are over 30,583 military families that need your help. You can easily read about the various families and see who is being helped with your donation.

Donations made are turned into gift cards that are given out to the families equally. On the site is also a spot showing the most wished for items such as children’s shoes and clothes, which seems to be the most popular. These gift cards can help provide these items to deserving families with your help. You can even read stories from selected families and see their wish list and how much they need help this season. Why not take a moment to check the site out and help fulfill someone’s needs this holiday season? You can donate any amount you choose and every dollar counts.

Friends are nice

We had a great gift from a friend today. Our cruise is 12/14 and she got us a room at the Fairfield at the Kennedy Space Center for free. She does conventions and has points so she got the deal for us. The rooms there go for $119 per night so this was a wonderful savings for us, especially with the awful economy right now. Thank you very much, Suzy!

PWND

You know, you can feel as self righteous as you want and still get called out. I got these hand made sandals in Mexico that are gorgeous. I was wearing them tonight while doing some shopping and this girl came up to me and said, "I just love your flip flops!" She said flip flops!

Blitz is acting out

Blitz has been acting out the last two days. And when I say acting out, I mean he's been hosing things down. We're not sure why because he's been housetrained for a year now but something is bugging him and it's so not cool. Yep, I called him out. This precious face is really pissing us off. (I made a cool pun there)

Black Friday

Black Friday was weird this year. We ended up getting the stuff we wanted online but tonight we went out to Walmart and found the GPS we'd wanted and the sheets that were on sale. LOL We could have stayed at home and not done it online. Figures. However, the GPS was a fluke. Someone had put one on a shelf in stationary. We snatched it up and cancelled my online order. I can't cancel the sheets so we'll just get those when they come in with the site-to-store ordering.

25,000 gifts under $25

In these economic times we can use all the help we can get. Right now Kmart has more than 25,000 gifts for under $25. With that many to choose from you’re sure to find something for everyone and save money while doing so. All you have to do is go to Kmart’s site and there’s a spot for gifts under a variety of prices. Just click the gifts under $25 and start shopping. There’s a handy search engine so it’s easier to navigate and find exactly what you want. Just Click Here One of the gifts I thought was pretty neat is the alternative down blanket. I love anything that is down and down alternative is a great option when you’re on a budget. It also comes in a variety of colors to choose from.

For the past 100 years Kmart has been a place families can turn to for affordable items and easy shopping. With brands like Martha Stewart, Craftsman and Radko, there are quality items to buy but at prices you can afford. Kmart is also one of the few places left where you can put items on layaway, allowing you to pay them off in timed payments rather than burdening yourself with having to purchase everything at that particular moment.

Hostel II doggies

We were watching Hostel II again tonight since we got it on Blu Ray and for the first time (after seeing it about 3 times) we noticed that the dogs are different in two different parts. Those of you who know, know that we saw the Teruvian Sheppherds in there and long story short, that's how we got the twins, which are Belgian Malinois. However, the part where the dogs are chowing down on someone look like Belgians. I have a friend who is friends with Eli Roth so I asked him to ask for me. Yep, we notice things like that. LOL

A really cool contest

Ceiva has the neatest contest right now. You can go there and upload your picture and let Santa grant your wish. Not only does your picture show up on the digital frame, Santa and his little helper also calls you by your name and shows what you wanted in his book. Now how cool is that? I also got to share the video with my friends so they can see how much fun I had. And if you enter the Got a Wish Sweeepstakes right now they are giving away $500 prizes to winners.

Ceiva has an awesome digital frame that has the capability of receiving photos by Wi-Fi or phone. So now you can display pictures right on the digital frame that came from a cell phone or your Internet connection. Even people who have no idea how to use a computer can use this photo frame. It’s all done with plug and play technology and imagine how excited your friends or family will be when they can get a picture from you in an instant, without having to do a thing! Until December 24th they are giving these away at $100 savings and free shipping and best of all, a lifetime warranty. If anything breaks they’ll replace it for free and that’s forever, not just a few months.

The weather

Our weather here is so darn nice. Right now it's 67 degrees and it's almost 4 am. I am loving it. I figure it's so warm because it'll rain or something then freeze but we sure are enjoying it. The only con is that it's so humid outside that the pups like to make little paw prints on my ceramic tile so I'm constantly sweeping and mopping. At least I got that Shark thing to steam the floors with. It's easy enough to use all the time.

Free $250 gift card

Banner__bf08_300x250_google
Looking to get a bundle with cable, Internet and phone services at a great price? Right now during black friday you can order Charter’s services and not only get a great deal on cable, internet and phone but you also get a $250 gift card if you get the ultimate bundle. That’s right, $250 and you’re automatically entered to win an Xbox 360 game console. There are 45 of those to be won so I’d consider your chances pretty awesome.

If you’re not ready to commit to a full bundle service you can still get individual services such as 10 Mbps high speed Internet, cable television with HDTV and a variety of premium channels such as HBO and Showtime or even an unlimited calling phone plan.

The amounts of the gift cards depend on which services you get but the best part is that no matter which service you decide on, you still get a gift card. If you order Internet alone you get a $25 gift card. Digital home and Internet gets a $75 gift card. All three services warrants a $150 gift card and if you purchase the ultimate bundle, which includes just about everything you could want from a cable company you receive the $250 gift card to use however you wish.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was great. We had the best darn meal I think we've ever cooked. R's stuffing was a huge success and it was all done from scratch, right down to the cornbread in it. We only had one minor mishap with a pumpkin pie we thought you just had to thaw. It was the only thing we didn't do from total scratch and look how it turned out. All of our homemade stuff was great and the store bought pie ate it. It was our fault for not looking but still.

Now we're trying to stay up to go to Walmart at 5 AM since they have a couple of things we really want but darned if I'm not totally tired. I'm staying up cause I don't want to lay down after eating even if it was like 6 hours ago. I had coffee later so I want to be careful and not get sick. But boy are my eyes so tired. I want to take a nap bad. Wish us luck. LOL One thing we could get online but the other thing is store only so it's out to the beach we go. Good news is that it's like 64 outside still so the weather is awesome.

Darn you Best Buy!

I was all set to go online at 5 AM to two stores and get my doorbuster savings. Well, in an unprecedented move, Best Buy and a few other stores put the stuff up this morning before I got up. Keep in mind I was up till at least 3 AM and got up at 9 AM. Now the item we were going to purchase is gone, which means we'll have to stand in line if we want it.

On a lighter note, the turkey is in the oven, R's stuffing he made off of Food Network is awesome and dinner will be ready around 5 PM.

Twilight

Went to see Twilight today and I really loved it. It was pretty full in there and these people saved like almost the whole row I wanted to sit at but other than some annoying tween "OH EDWARD'S" we had fun. It's definitely something I'd watch over again. :)

With MUFA’s, you can eat heart healthy foods that help fight heart disease and these are not only good for you, they taste good too. Foods like almonds and dark chocolate are just a few of these types of tasty things to eat.

Now for the best part. You can receive this book for free if you’re among the select number of people chosen. You only have to try the diet out and blog about it at least twice a week. That’s it. You might even be one of the winners who gets a 1-year free membership to the flat belly website. All you have to lose is your stomach fat.

Movie injuries

I don't think they're very accurate. Either that or I'm some kind of lame person who can't take pain. You see people get shot or stabbed and they're all, "I'm fine, let's run!" but I have this pneumonia pain in my side and if someone said for me to spill secrets or they'd make it stay I'd tell everything I knew. I imagine getting stabbed or shot feels worse. R says that it's because their endorphins kick in so I suppose I need some of those endorphins right now.

Pneumonia

I have it. I've been sick forever here and there, thinking it was just the flu or a cold. So finally I went to the doctor since I had pulled something in my side when coughing. Turns out it's most likely pneumonia so I have a plethora of medicines including Abutirol and prednisone. I've never had an inhaler so that's pretty neat. The doctor's office was slam packed so I had to wait forever. I think everyone is sick with one thing or another. The good news is that my schedule is becoming more normal. Long story short, I'm going to bed at a regular time and getting up between 8-9 AM each morning. Yeah, you heard me right. I can't believe it either. R is off for the next week and a half so we'll see if that lasts. Wish me well.

Photos

I think someone once said never to work with children or animals and I know they're right on the animals part. We're trying to get our pictures for Christmas and we always do the ones with the dogs in it. Now the boys and Swan are great about sitting when told, etc but it's just getting them in the perfect area that is the hard part. They're great subjects, I just need the perfect background. We have this idea that we'll try to work on this week or weekend. We'll see how that goes.

Go shopping and make payments

Wouldn’t it be nice to pick out all of your Christmas shopping items and pay for them on time without racking up interest fees? You can do that at Kmart with their handy Kmart Layaway for the Holidays program. It’s easy to do and puts the fun back in shopping. Why wait on picking out exactly what you want due to not having the money? With layaway at Kmart you just pick out your items and take them to the layaway counter. You’ll make a down payment and then payments on your items are due every two weeks. Once you’re done with what you owe then take your items home and enjoy. It’s just that simple.

There are a few things you should know. Be sure not to miss a payment since the items being held for you can be returned if no payment is made within 7 days after it’s due. There is a low service fee of $5 to utilize the layaway service and if you don’t pay for your items and they’re returned, you will forfeit your service fees. The same applies if you cancel your merchandise. You have 8 weeks to pay your items off so what are you waiting for? Go ahead and enjoy your Christmas shopping and take the time you need to pay for everything when you use Kmart’s layaway program.

Less than a month left

Till we go on our cruise. I can't wait to bask in the sun while it's freezing up here. Not that 45 is freezing cold to most of my northern friends but to me that's cold. Besides, I can't open up the windows or doors when it's this cold. I sure liked the weather the other day better. It was in the 70's then and darn near as perfect as you can get. Then the huge storm and now this. At least it'll be warmed up some today.

Shop at Sears by phone

Sears has an awesome program called STG just in time for the holidays. It’s called Sears2Go and what it does is allows you to shop from your cell phone. It’s the newest thing and Sears has it first. Not only can you shop by cell phone you will also get a text message when your item is ready to pick up at the store. Now how convenient is that?

The Sears2Go site has a handy search engine and useful links to items such as apparel, electronics and computers, fitness and sports, jewelry, tools and many more. Just pick the item on your phone, pay for it and that’s it. As soon as your item is ready you’ll know it because you’ll get an alert telling you so.

This is a great idea for people who have commutes by train and are too busy to be able to shop. Or even as a last minute option you can use the Sears2Go program and only leave your home when you’re ready to pick up what you’ve bought. Now how simple is that?

Check out the program today and start saving gas money by doing your shopping right from your cell phone. It’s new and innovative and can save you time and money.

New baby

My nephew and his GF just had a beautiful baby 3 days ago. We went there last night and got to hold him and wow is he a great baby. No crying or anything and when he did it was so brief that it was over before you even heard him hardly. He has a warm head! LOL You know I don't have kids so that was kind of neat to me, his warm head. I wonder if that's where the term hot head comes from. We took some awesome pictures that we have to drop off. Now, if I can only get the perfect doggy Christmas pictures taken with R I'd be all set.

Turbocharge your auto

Turbo Chargers Pro has all you need to supercharge your auto. Imagine having a charger on your car or truck and being the envy of everyone. If I totally wanted to bling out my truck I could put a supercharger on it and have it rock. We already have awesome rims, TV’s and all that other fun stuff that makes it stand out so if we had a turbocharger I would imagine that’d just be icing on the cake. Turbo Chargers Pro mostly has parts for most vehicles and a handy search engine on site so you can find exactly which turbocharger you need. I did a search for the H2 and while they didn’t offer it online, they do have a toll free phone number so they can locate it for you. They even sell remanufactured turbochargers so you can save money while upgrading your vehicle. A vw turbocharger is just one of the many turbochargers that is available.

Worst freaking movie ever

It's been a long time since I saw a truly awful movie at a theater but tonight not only takes the cake, it licks the bowl.

We were originally going out with Chris and all three of us went to dinner (nom worthy Bonefish Grill) and to see Saw V. (I said see saw) So right after we buy our tickets for Saw, Chris decides she'd like to see The Haunting of Molly Hartley. Well, R wanted Saw and I was neutral because I wanted to see both. Since she was more of a guest we said sure. Besides, we always buy the Saw franchises on DVD anyway.

Well, this movie bites worse than anything I have seen that called itself horror in a very long time. There was no blood at all other than a nosebleed. No horror at all. No nudity (just in case it had some redeeming value) and well, it sucked. It sucked so bad I fell asleep about 6 times. Now mind you I have a hurt rib. I either coughed funny or pulled a muscle near my ribcage. Either way, it hurts big time. There wasn't even a good plot. The only thing it had was that mean girl from Nip/Tuck and 90210 and the girl from Swingtown and the one guy that is marrying J.J. on Criminal Minds. They were given stupid roles too.

I am so sorry we didn't go ahead and see Saw. (did it again with the see saw) Not to mention it's bitter freaking cold outside. The wind is blowing like a monsoon and it's 47 degrees. It was the upper 70's yesterday...go figure. We did come home and watch Ricky Gervais' show on HBO, which was hilarious.

Dinner was excellent, the movie sucked, thank God for HBO and heat.

Jobs, they has a suck

R's job is sure sucking lately. Not only are they having huge layoffs, now that they have gotten rid of so many people his insurance is changing. It used to be just $10 per week for him and that was medical and dental. Now it's free but instead of a low deductible you have to meet a $1500 deductible per year for a singler person and $3000 for a family. Sure, if you have an emergency you've met that instantly but what about regular doctor visits? You won't be able to use the insurance at all. I guess I should be thankful he still has a job for now since they are cutting people left and right and he's still not in the clear. We'll know more on Tuesday I suppose.

This sucks

I lost the gig at Demand Studios. This sucks because I was doing so well there. They don't have anymore articles to offer right now so I guess I'll focus on the WRG articles to make up the difference. Sure, I did fine before DS but I'll really miss that money each Friday in my Paypal account. I figure it's like anything else though. It's fun while it lasts and ride the gravy train as long as you can because no one knows when it'll stop.

The Moving Wall

We went to the Moving Wall tonight. For those who don't know, "The Moving Wall" is the half-size replica of the Washington, DC Vietnam Veterans Memorial and has been touring the country for more than twenty years. The Wall is about names. At some Moving Wall sites, the sponsor makes arrangements for all 58,228 names to be read aloud. This takes about 72 hours. If each person reads for 20 minutes, (270 names) this will require 216 volunteer name readers. I found it quite somber but a beautiful memorial and I was glad I got to see it. Here are some picture and since there aren't a ton of them they are part of the air show pictures as well.

As Seen on TV & Domo

I am never getting another As Seen on TV product unless it's from Walmart where I can return it.

We recently ordered the Shark Floor Steamer thing which is similar to a Swiffer but it doesn't use chemicals and it's a steam, not cold water. Okay, so far so good. I ordered it with four monthly payments and a 60 day free trial. I got $158 taken out of my account. Heck, I can get it at Target for half that. Anyway, it supposedly has $40 for a warranty and $30 for shipping. So we decide since they obviously can't send it correctly we'll call. To return it we lose $30 on shipping and have to pay to have it shipped back. Then 7-10 business days we'll get our money back. Come on! I am so annoyed. I want to use it but I don't want to pay double what it will cost in the stores. Then we go to take the Peticure back and that was from the As Seen on TV store and we got our money back but even they acted all weird at first like we weren't getting a refund. *sigh*

Now for Domo. They have a huge one at Target that is a Halloween display. He's a big stuffed one that hangs from the ceiling. You know what they're doing with Domo after the holidays? Taking him to the dumpster. They have had tons of customers want him but they're not allowed to give him away so he'll be thrown away. Now how stupid is that? I understand that since he's a display they fear being sued if someone took him home and their kids choked to death on his filling but seriously can't they find him a home? I'm sad for Domo and could give him a great forever home. *double sigh*

Not much good news

Wow, all the bad news today gives me a sad. Jennifer Hudson's family and now her nephew, the anchor who was killed might have been broken into through her doggie door,(that makes me sad since she loved her dogs so much) school shootings, Caylee is pretty much known to be dead, four cheerleaders die in a car crash, you name it. Good thing I'm not depressed...sheesh!

Sunday we went shopping at Silver Sands and got a few things but a lot of stores we loved are gone. The economy is so bad that hardly anyone was there and that place is always packed. Rather sad to me. It was nice though and later we got food from Fresh Market, which I love. I did get a purse from an unfamiliar designer. See, I had to say that just to be funny. Sounded all snarky didn't it? It's Jennifer Von Zeeland and I love it. I really loved the Michael Kors stuff but it was too expensive even on discount. A $400 purse? I'd feel guilty if I didn't stuff and mount it after paying that much. LOL

I have been so busy today but thankfully not overwhelmed. Test at school and I studied a lot thank you very much, quite a few articles to write, making the dogs' rice and chicken (R mostly did that), cleaning up, laundry....you name it. I am catching up at least. Weird thing is that I get cold at like 59 and lower and tonight it's 47 and I am not cold! Been feeling allergies today so perhaps I have a fever.

Okay, I'm rambling and so need to get back to work. :)

The Strangers

Well, I won't be buying this one after seeing it. Did it suck? Most certainly not, I loved it. Well then you ask, why not buy it cause I know you buy everything that comes out? It was depressing! It's like Last House on the Left. You watch it, it's one of those must-see movies of the 70's but will you watch it over and over? Not unless you're a sadist. I mean I knew how The Strangers would end but I do like a little light at the end of my tunnel. With that said, Liv Tyler's acting was superb. Hear a loud noise and does she overact? Not at all. In fact, it was her facial movements and that involuntary neck twitch that she did that was absolutely spectacular. I did like it, I loved it even. But I just can't see myself watching it a bunch of times unless I want to slit my wrists later. It's just that darn sad. I'll add it in with Last House on the Left, The Girl Next Door (not the teen/porn star neighbor movie), Heavenly Creatures (which I do love to rewatch) and Night Train to Terror, which is very similar to Last House on the Left. PS Why are the
70's movies so depressing and scary? This had that kind of feel to it.

Let's see....

...it's been a couple of days since I said anything. I know, you all missed me horribly. (I wish!)

We bought a Peticure to use on our dogs but it's not as easy as the commercials and the sales clerk told us. Swan still acts like satan when you get near her toes.

I am officially studying for my test on Mon and R is helping. I have the first 20 questions pretty much down pat but I have 30 more. I did learn a new fancy lawyer word - occlusion! I'm all impressed with that word. (watch me have misspelled it or something)

I got all overwhelmed the other day and I hate that. I felt like I had school to study for, articles to write, a house to clean, you name it and I felt like it had to be done. Much better now. :) I don't has a sad at least, just that overwhelming sense of frantic. It's all better now. I've decided I'll never finish all the articles so whatever. I think it's because I love how they've panned out to really make decent money and I feel I have to keep doing more and more but it's not like I really have to. Only WRG has actually quotas and deadlines so that's not quite so hard.

We have a krewe social on Fri night if it's not pouring since it's held outdoors. I guess we'll wait and see.

Bought a few movies and can't wait to see them. I know R is wanting to see Indy again and I am dying to see The Strangers.

That's it for now. :) I'll subject you all to mindless ramblings on another day.

Now they've ruined it...

Sex offenders in Maryland recently got a sign and letters for Halloween. The signs say, "No candy at this residence" and the letters tell them how they can start on their way to becoming a responsible citizen by not answering the door during Halloween.

No problem so far but WE put up a sign when we're out of candy. Just turning out the light doesn't work. So now I'm picturing concerned parents getting confused on the MD law and thinking our house is full of sex offenders. I know, it's silly but just consider the stranger things that have happened.

However, I am considering the fun parents can have with their kids this year in MD. Just think, in the old days it was the scary old witch lady in the house you wouldn't go near but now your parents can show you the houses to keep away from and there are far worse things than a scary elderly person who probably never harmed a fly.

A great time

We had a great time with friends tonight. We met at Pier Park and ate at Hofbrau Beer Garden which is obviously German food. It was my first authentic German food and it was delicious. Our friend had Jagerschnitzel and that was the best of all other than the potato pancakes which I love to death. I had some kind of rolled steak with saurkraut and these candied apple type things that were yummy. I also drank some of the beer out of some guy's stein. He was an employee and C knew him. I'm not a fan of beer but it was nice of him to share.

We then went to see Lakeview Terrace in the knick of time and we all loved it. Great movie! Then we hung out at Starbucks then walked around and chatted. That was fun. We were making fun of C's dog's name which is Tater. She was saying it wasn't a redneck dog name but come on! LOL You don't get more country than tater.

Now we're back home setting up our fireplace. Yes, we have an electric one but it's pretty. Let's hope this one doesn't break like our others have in the past but I did purchase the extended warranty so it's their problem if that happens. We might need it too since it's already down to 58 tonight and for me, that's nippy.

Got tagged

I got tagged today by Macky Planet one of my favorite blogs! So here are 8 random facts about me!

1. I stay up all night sometimes and sleep all day. I'm usually working during that time but I might be gaming.

2. I love using the pool in the middle of the night (if it's warm enough)

3. I love 70's music and disco.

4. I'm a list maker. I love cataloging books and movies and you'll always see a daily to-do list by my computer.

5. I can't imagine going back into the workforce and working for the "man" even though I do plan to finish my degree and do just that.

6. I never kick stuffed animals because it might hurt their feelings. (LOL)

7. Horror movies and books are my favorite.

8. I love foreign movies, mostly horror and indie films.

9. I take over 10 different vitamins per day.

10. I have been considering getting a small tattoo, definitely no color in it and just words. I have to figure out what I want it to say. (and I still have my tongue piercing in)

The rules:
1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
3. At the end of your blog post, you need to choose people to get tagged and list their names.
4. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged, and to read your blog.

These blogs are so much fun! These peeps are an interesting bunch! Let's hear from them!

Just stuff

I'm learning a lot about vitamins and stuff since I love visiting the Vitamin Store next to Starbucks. I learned I should be taking whole foods vitamins instead of synthetic ones. That's where I also learned about enzymes and probiotics. I'm not sure if it all works but let's just say I had the flu symptoms for 3 weeks almost and once I started taking the enzymes and probiotics my symptoms were gone in 3 days.

DS started paying less for submitted titles which sucks since I submitted most of mine for the last few months. I guess I'll go back to writing stuff like How to become a Mime in Viet Nam. I did get paid again today for my WRG articles for the month so that was nice since those are so much more research.

Did I say I got a B on my Human Behavior class test? Not bad for the harder of the two classes. Now I just have to do better in the easier class. Go figure!

Cuba

I want to travel to Cuba. I've always wanted to go and perhaps it's because I'm not allowed that makes me want to go that much more. Doing some research for an article I found out that a lot of Americans travel to Cuba. You just have to know how to do it. One person said that it was absolutely beautiful and not to glamorize a dictatorship but the area and the people were wonderful. I was thrilled that when we went to Mexico that you could see Cuba from the ship. Maybe one day.

Next door hot

I got to thinking that the cast from True Blood was what I call Next Door Hot. What I mean is that no one on the show is beautiful but they are, for the most part, hot. Sookie isn't beautiful but she's hot. Jason isn't either but he's hot. And Bill, well he's just hot but you get my drift. Kind of like they're hot because we're watching them but they're ordinary people hot. Like if you had a hot neighbor. Just something I've thought about.

Probiotics and multi-enzymes

Does anyone know anything about probiotics and multi-enzymes? Are you taking them? Are they working? I was in the vitamin store the other night asking about something for energy after having this flu that knocked me out and the clerk said they are a "must" for everyone. I've read online and they do seem to have very good reviews. Just curious if anyone I know knows about them.

My schedule sucks

I stayed up all night last night so therefore I declare that my schedule sucks. However, I did cook breakfast for R and that has to be some kind of "plus" in my favor. I made sausage, biscuits and eggs w/ cheese, onions and mushrooms. We watched some of Bridezilla before he had to go to work. I could call myself domesticated if I hadn't still been up. Do you have to actually get up to be domesticated or does it count if you just never went to bed? Something to ponder.

New advances in Lasik

For more than five years, LASIK technology surgery has helped over 12 million people be able to live life without contact lenses and glasses. Now, the US Military and NASA are using that same technology to benefit mission-critical personnel. With an all-laser form of Lasik, the Department of Defense and NASA are using this to correct the vision of their specialized personnel who face extreme conditions in their jobs. Today’s Lasik is far superior than the Lasik surgery of years past.

The newest and innovative Lasik surgery is now called iLasik and uses not one, but two lasers, which has improved on the old Lasik, making it safer to use. First, wave-front technology maps the person’s eye and its exclusive uniqueness. Then a super fast computer guided laser makes a corneal flap in the eye. After this flap is made, the wave-front mapping data guides the other laser to correct the vision. No longer does one have to depend on human hands guiding a blade, making this a much safer procedure. This combination creates a custom “fit” for the eyes.

After using the new technology, members of the military had 95% results of now having 20/20 vision and all of the naval aviators said that they would recommend the surgery to others. Find out more about LASIK information

The election

May I say that I am sick of this election? It doesn't matter which party I am choosing because I retain the right to keep that to myself. What I'm tired of is the mudslinging and it seems that opposite parties like to bring down the other side and it's sickening. Oddly, I can go on one forum and hear how they hate one side but go to another and they hate the other. It's like, I know who I'm voting for and your hateful links and stupid videos won't change my mind. Does anyone think it will? Okay, rant over but please, be nice to the friends you have with opposing views. You won't see me sending hate links to my friends that like the other party so please don't do it to me.

I should have been up

We had a tornado touch down 2 blocks from my house and I slept through it. Do you realize if I'd been up I could have taken pictures? Here is that article:

Those Bret Michaels pictures

These are from a cell phone so they're small and not that great but it's the best we could do since they left early. Otherwise, R would have had our camera with him and I'd be showing you awesome pictures.

Wednesday, October 8, 2008

Bret Michaels is here

Well, not like here in my house but at the place where R works. He's staying out there with his new reality show, Rock of Love Bus with Bret Michaels. I'm not this huge fan or anything but I do like his music and he seems like a cool guy. I do want some pictures though. R has met a few celebrities out there but Bret would be cool for some pictures. So far he just got a picture of the bus. We'll have to try to get a better one since this one was with his camera phone. I'll post them if we get some. :)

Bronchitis

I think I have bronchitis. I'm not sure but today hit me full force and I slept all day and even some tonight. I was coughing and just felt awful. It might have been all of the pollen though too. When it rains, the pollen gets worse and it finally rained today after a dry spell. I've been reading up on bronchitis and that's what it sounds like. However, what annoys me is being constantly told to go to the doctor or whatever. IF I have the flu or bronchitis, both are not helped by antibiotic and you just have to rest and let them run their course. In fact, both last over 2 weeks at times so I'm on track. It's not like I've been sick 3 months or something. Seriously people, cut me some slack. I'm taking my vitamins and taking it easy, what else do you want? I know, I'm grouchy. It'll pass.

Toes and actors

An odd title, yes? That's just how I do a post and combine things without calling it a "stuff" post. LOL

I broke another toe. What else is new? I'm telling you, we should cut them off now because it'll save me the pain. You could kidnap me like some psycho on Criminal Minds and threaten to break my toes and I'd be used to it. You could try to get spy secrets by breaking my toes and I wouldn't give them up. This time the culprit was my New York Yankees Reeboks. I kicked one, as usual. It shouldn't have been in the floor but I'd taken them off before a nap and there they were. I'll have to take a picture to add to my broken toe collection. I know you all can't wait to see.

We were at a shop today and in walks the guy that was on In the Heat of the Night. He lives here and his wife produces Damages. I could give you his name but who knows what people think about privacy issues. It was cool though. He seemed super nice too.

The plague

I swear, this flu stuff is never going away. I'm not sick but I'm still having headaches and once in a while, nightmares. I'm not taking any odd medicine so that's not it. Must be some kind of aneurysm or something. If it's the flu it sure is a bad one. One that keeps hanging on just enough to annoy me. I've been up all night but that was due to making some money and then playing my games. I have to have my game time at night to relax. Now it's 8 am and I'm heading for bed. Please help me pray that the dogs feel like sleeping too because right now they're barking at the other dogs in the neighborhood. Hopefully they need to sleep as much as I do. See you all this afternoon. *grumbles about odd sleep schedules*

Win a new car

Everyone is looking to save gas in today’s unstable economy but not everyone can afford to run out and purchase a hybrid vehicle. Well, what if you could win one? Right now if you order any Charter service such as cable, Internet and phone, you could win a Honda Civic Hybrid worth $24,000 and save on gas as well. There’s no purchase necessary so you can just visit their site and fill out an entry form but consider being able to save on your utilities too.

When you utilize Charter’s services, you’re helping the environment as well and what other way to help than with a hybrid vehicle that you can win?

The Honda Civic Hybrid comes with awesome features such as polished metal metallic, fabric interior, USB audio interface, 110-hp, 8 valve, SOHC I-VTEC 4 cylinder engine, continuously variable transmission, mp3 auxiliary input jack and get this, up to 45 mpg on the highway. You can’t beat that!

Why not check out Charter and at the same time put in your entry to win the Honda Civic Hybrid? You never know, you might just win and if nothing else, you can educate yourself on the Hybrid and Charter’s services all at once.

Be still my beating heart

I just read an article in Entertainment Weekly that Stephen Moyer from True Blood actually has fangs. I mean they're just those extra sharp canines but still... Imagine how that made me feel. Oh well, here's his super hot picture, fangs and all.

Me, in print!

I am so excited. A few years ago I wrote a story for In Laymon's Terms after the untimely death of Richard Laymon. It's been a long time coming but the book is finally headed for print. Now I wonder if my writing was bad back then or if the misspelling of my first name on the table of contents is that way in the book but who cares? I'm thrilled! Check it out and let me bask in my thrills.

I has a sad

That's how I feel today and yesterday. Not sure why...perhaps it's the economy, perhaps it's because work is slow or I'm waiting on a couple of payments, maybe it's my test that wasn't as great as I thought but then again the class average was a 72 so it's not just me but still....
I'm sure it'll pass.

Sunday

Sunday is back with some of my favorite shows to watch. I loved Desperate Housewives, The Unit was good, Dexter was like being with an old friend, I Love Money has just one episode left and we still have Mad Men and Californication left to watch but it's getting late. Seems like this year our two busiest days for shows are Sunday and Wednesday. Thursday is sort of full but not too bad. It's nice to tape everything on the DVR and skip commercials and save time.

Video Makeover

Roxio Extreme Digital Makeover is a really cool makeover show where anyone can learn to take their digital photos and make them into something special. A video production you can share with friends and family. Zoey and Chris are two fun people who help you do something extra with your digital photos. Imagine not just making a slideshow but a video production; they can help you get it done and have fun while doing it.

My favorite was Wedding Day Crunch. Why don’t you watch the video and enter the contest as well? You can win some awesome prizes or even be featured on the show! Now how cool is that?

Possessed toys

I had darn nightmares today while taking a nap. I rarely have nightmares but I sure did today. Here I am trying to enjoy a nice Sunday nap and it goes something like this:

In my dream I just woke up from a nap. (like that isn't scary since the nightmare is basically about what I just really did)

I go in the living room where R is and all of the dogs are in there too when I hear something in the bedroom.

I tell R that something is in the bedroom and as I look down the hall I see the dog's stuffed bear come walking out of our bedroom all possessed.

I woke up with my heart pounding, went back to sleep and dreamed the same thing but this time it was a towel animal like you get on the cruise ship.

I hate nightmares! They stay with you all day and bug the heck out of you. I think I might have dreamed it because I had my stuffed Domo and was teasing the dogs by holding it and going, "RAAARRRRR" at them. There's my paybacks. That or it's a sign that inanimate objects are possessed by satan in my house. Lordy I hope it's the first one.

What I'm reading

I read a lot and I mean, a lot! I've been reading since I was 4 or 5 years old so imagine the thousands of books that is. Some books I've read again and again like Swan Song and The Stand but anyway, here's what I'm reading right now:

20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill (great so far!)

sTori Telling by Tori Spelling (I am loving this)

All God's Children (this one is for my class at school which reminds me I need to study)

Footprints of Thunder (this one is good so far, I originally bought the sequel by accident so I had to get this one)
