The Moving Wall

We went to the Moving Wall tonight. For those who don't know, "The Moving Wall" is the half-size replica of the Washington, DC Vietnam Veterans Memorial and has been touring the country for more than twenty years. The Wall is about names. At some Moving Wall sites, the sponsor makes arrangements for all 58,228 names to be read aloud. This takes about 72 hours. If each person reads for 20 minutes, (270 names) this will require 216 volunteer name readers. I found it quite somber but a beautiful memorial and I was glad I got to see it. Here are some picture and since there aren't a ton of them they are part of the air show pictures as well.

My dad is on that wall Major Frank R Maki. I had a blogger friend take pictures of the big wall in DC. I will post that soon. Thanks for caring about the Vietnam Wall!

I just found your blog and I found the moving wall very interesting. We have nothing like that, that I know of in Australia to remember those who died in Vietnam
