The good books...where are they?

I finished up the shelves in the exercise room and logged 378 paperback books. Looking over what I had, I found some of my top 10 books of all time in the horror genre, and for me, most any genre. My question is, where have all the good books gone? Granted, I'm loving the Sookie Stackhouse books and there are others but where are authors like John Tigges, T.E.D.Klein, Ruby Jean Jensen, Paula Trachtman, Josh Webster, Ken Eulo and Rick Hautala? These are some of my favorite authors who seemed to have dropped off the planet. It's sad because I wouldn't part with my Tigges books if I were offered hundreds of dollars.

Even some of my favorite writers who still write aren't as good (to me and I know that's subjective) as they were. Like Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Robert McCammon, Andrew Neiderman, etc.

I want the 80's back (just in horror, not those awful clothes I wore).

PS one of my favorite books ever is called Abomination by Michael C Norton yet I can't find another thing by him.
