We're back

We made it back from our trip. I'll probably split some of our trip up into different blog posts.

Some highlights though:

The first time I used the restroom on the Lido deck it almost sucked me in. You know how the ship bathrooms are? This one went off and I couldn't get up. ROFL

The weather was pleasant and not too hot at all.

We saw the neatest road signs that we took pictures off. From iguana crossing to multiple animal crossings to this sign with railroad tracks that went around a bull. We still don't know what that one means.

The hotel lost one of my rings I left there by accident. I had to send them the cost and a picture. This is a ring I'd lost before and had it re-bought for me.

Saw the greatest Beatles show on the last night of our cruise. It was awesome but they don't allow video or pictures due to copyright issues. I'll try to find some info. Here's a bad video of the audience cause we all got glow sticks. Here's a picture I found somewhere else.

I have to edit about 300 pictures. R originally took over 800 so that's a good start.

I walked about 10 miles in Xcaret but more on that later.

Mobile

We made it to Mobile after some fog, some rain, high winds and one tornado watch. Now the weather is clear and mild so everything seems a go.

We had lunch at Godfather's Pizza and it was just as good as I remember it when I worked there as a 19 year old. We don't have them in Panama City anymore so it was neat to go after all these years.

Had dinner at a place called Bimini Bob's and it was wonderful too. I even made it back in time to watch Big Love.

Talked to R's mom and the doggie's ate their food and are doing great. I miss them already. What's weird is that Swan will just guard her food for hours before she eats it but she ate it all tonight while B was there. Must be just us that's lucky enough for her to do that.

I won't be online again till Saturday but can take e-mail so drop me a line if you need me and I can answer. If you have a blackberry PIN you can text me too but I'd have to share my PIN and I'm too lazy to look right now. So, e-mail it is! :) See you all after Mexico!

Beach trip

We went to the beach today to do a writing for a customer. While there, these people actually kept walking through our shot. I mean, to the point of stopping and looking at the writing while in the shot. I finally could take it not more and said, "DO YOU MIND?" That stopped them.

We did the pictures and when we got to the truck I noticed I'd put a wrong phrase in one so R went back down to do it and while I waited a lady in the parking lot got scratched real bad by a feral cat. Her fingers were bleeding something awful. I got out and got her our first aid kit and then put band aids on her fingers till she could go to the doctor or get to the drug store.

Finally we got to go and everything worked out. I have a new picture for someone (I'll attach it) and helped out someone, which R helped too since he's the one who went back onto the beach to rewrite the phrase.

Misc stuff

We're heading out for our trip in a few days. The funny thing is that the Mobile area is calling for fog the day we board so let's hope it's not a repeat of what happened in December but I think it won't be. That was unprecedented fog and highly unusual. Regular fog shouldn't keep us grounded.

Got a new writing gig and I'm very excited about it. I have already done a few articles and they were good. The girl who hired me was super nice and friendly too. So far they're easy to write too.

Saw The Blind Side and really enjoyed it.

We had the hugest storm this morning. There was a thunderclap so loud it sounded like lightning hit our backyard. I was a little freaked out and I normally love storms. This one was just too strong for me. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice and that's good because I sold a beach writing and need to go make it before we leave. I also sold two pet memorial boxes. I was so pleased to see those sales in one day.

The Lovely Bones

I have been looking forward to this movie since I had heard about it. I read the book last year and loved it. We saw it last night and it was awesome. The visuals are the best and the story was almost as good as the book. At the very least the acting and what they kept of the book was just as good and that's saying something since movies are rarely as well done. There were a few things taken out due to time constraints and we all know the murder and rape was taken out but the meat of the story was all there and I loved it. I'm giving it a 5/5 stars and can't wait for it to come out on BluRay so I can see it again.

Rescheduled our trip

We finally got our trip rescheduled for the week of 1/25. Yes, I know it's just a few days away but Jan is the best time for us. Otherwise, I have tests in Feb and R would have a hard time telling a workplace that he needed a week off after just starting. So, Jan it is.

We're still going to Calica (Cancun & Playa Del Carmen) and Cozumel which means I can finally get to see Xcaret and some of the other things we were looking forward to.

BTW, I want to see if they have vitamin B12 injections in Mexico because they rock. I had mine the other day and have felt pretty darn good the last two days.

School

I finally started school this week and I like my classes so far. I have one teacher I always have had at FSU and a new one but the new one seems super cool too. He had everyone go around the class and tell about themselves. I was impressed with everyone! 19 year olds going for their master's degree, people joining the FBI and NCIS, etc. The classes themselves may be a little "normal" but if the teacher makes it fun that's what counts the most. We'll see how it goes but so far, I'm in!

Anniversary

We had a nice anniversary last night. Now granted, before the whole work thing and economic disaster we had planned on going to our first bed and breakfast but it's okay because we still have the cruise coming up. Since we didn't get to go in Dec, we plan to try to go in Jan. Key word being "try" in that sentence.

So last night we had an awesome dinner at Bonefish Grill. I had lobster thermidor and he had this yummy steak and prawn dish. We got chocolate creme brulee for later and then came home and watched most of How I Met Your Mother: Season 4. So other than having a cold, I had a wonderful time and really enjoyed our anniversary in town.

Auto Repair

No matter where you live, at some point you'll need auto repair. Whether it's Houston auto repair or New York City auto repair, maintenance is a big part of keeping your vehicle in top shape so you may not have to have repairs quite so often.

It doesn't matter what you drive either. You can drive an Acura Integra or a 1977 Mustang II (I know, I had one) and you'll still need to keep up with basic maintenance such as an oil change and a tune up.

So while these maintenance items may be an inconvenience in hectic lifestyles, they'll keep your auto repairs to a minimum.

I am banishing Walmart

I know, you don't believe me but I'm annoyed with Walmart. I've become totally addicted to the TV show, How I Met Your Mother. So we've been renting the episodes from Netflix. I found season 4 at Walmart for $20 and it said it was available online and in stores. So I told R let's go get it and watch it all weekend. I called all three stores and none of them had it according to whoever answered the phone. Why not? It just came out 3 months ago so why would they all be gone? So Walmart is banished to me, at least till the weekend.

Top 5 most stupid lawsuits

I saw this earlier today on Fox News and thought it was quite interesting.

#5:
Neighbor sues woman for smoking in her own home

#4:
Murderer killed couple to get their truck, so now he is suing to get the truck …

#3
Holocaust denier suing survivor because he wrote a book of his experiences

#2:
Hotel Pool impregnates 13 yr old …

#1:
Illegal aliens sue rancher who stopped them on his own property

I honestly have nothing to say. Let these just stand on their own.

Happy New Year

We had a great time tonight at Pier Park waiting for the ball to drop. We saw people dressed up, not dressed up, Sexy Dresses and jeans...you name it. It was a little chilly but not too awfully cold. There were fireworks after as well. Overall, I thought it was a very fun way to spend the New Year's Eve. I'm looking forward to this year being a much better one for everyone. Here's to prosperity, health and happiness.
