Himalayan Salt Lamps

Himalayan Salt Lamps are awesome. We have one in our living room and I’d love more. They are considered healthy since they release negative ions, which are found naturally near the sea, mountains and swiftly running water. They’re made out of mined salt found in the Himalaya Mountains and are perfect for any décor. We keep ours on all the time and it’s gorgeous!

The Weekend (part 2)

Well, so far the weather has held out! We were able to enjoy the pool under party cloudy skies. I have to admit that the water was sort of chilly but when the sun popped out it was gorgeous. The twins had a blast playing in the water and later on we're going to grill out. I need to straighten up a bit but otherwise it's a carefree holiday weekend.

Debt Settlement

Right now many people can use Debt Settlement. With the economy the way it is, wouldn’t it be nice to reduce your debt by up to 60%? Not only that but be debt free in a year!

Ghost Ships

Ghost Ship is one of my favorite horror movies. Tonight we were watching Triangle, another good one and I asked R, "Do you think there are really ghost ships? I don't mean haunted ships but just ships out there floating around empty. Do those exist?" Well much to my pleasure they really do exist. While many are reported to be apparitions or haunted, some are just empty and turn up. I'm talking real ships that have no one on board. I think that's so neat, yet creepy too. Check out this awesome list of the Top 10 Ghost Ships.

The Weekend

So, do any of you have anything exciting planned for Memorial Day Weekend? I really just want to lounge in the pool, get some more sun then grill out later that evening. To me, that's a nice holiday weekend. Obviously, let us not forget those who served including both of our dads. I only wish they were here to enjoy this weekend with us.

I think we're going to do shishkabobs and squash casserole. Maybe some bread too. We make a mean squash casserole and shishkabobs, no lie. It's calling for rain but hopefully it'll pass us by at least one of the two days R has off. I know the twins are dying to go on the pool and I want to get more pictures of them playing in there. I took an awesome one 2 years ago and cut the size down like an idiot so I can still use it but it's not large enough to submit anywhere. Duh, me.

Warning -Adult Review - Glass Probe

I recently got the glass probe to try out from Eden Fantasys. I've always wanted one of the glass probes simply because they are unique. You can heat them up or put them in a cool environment so that they get cold, for a totally different sensation.

First of all I liked the shape and texture of it. There's nothing like the feel and look of glass. I even joked that I would put it on my display shelf with my glass paperweights, etc. I didn't but I almost could get away with it since it's so pretty.

It has a tapered construction and is very slick. It can be used with all types of lubrication pretty much; from oil based to water based and silicone.

The pros: It's affordable, feels unique and is very pretty to look at. With the glass construction you can make it cold or hot, depending on which you prefer and with it being non-porous it's easy to keep clean and can be taken most anywhere such as a pool or hot tub without worrying that the chemicals will damage it.

The cons: It's glass so it does not bend at all, which makes it something you have to be quite careful with. Normal probes that are of a different product have a bendable feel to them and this does not. However, the sensation is top notch and the price is exceptional. Most glass probes cost way more money, up to a hundred dollars or more and this one is just $29.99, which is very affordable.

Every Rose Has Its Thorn

Wasn't it so incredibly cool to see Bret Michaels on American Idol tonight? It's amazing how much he has fought after being so ill and I'm surprised that he's up and around so much. I mean you know how I am, I'd be sitting in a corner hugging my knees after all of that death defying activity.

For those of you not familiar with the song, here's the lyrics:
We both lie silently still
In the dead of the night
Although we both lie close together
We feel miles apart inside

Was it somethin' I said or somethin' I did?
Did my words not come out right?
Though I tried not to hurt you
Though I tried but I guess that's why, they say

Every rose has its thorn
Just like every night has its dawn
Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song
Every rose has its, yeah, it does

I listen to my favorite song
Playin' on the radio
Hear the D.J. say
"Love's a game of easy come and easy go"

But I wonder, does he know
Has he ever felt like this?
And I know that you'd be here right now
If I could've let you know somehow

I guess, every rose has its thorn
Just like every night has its dawn
Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song
Every rose has its thorns

Though it's been a while now
I can still feel so much pain
Like the knife that cuts you, the wound heals
But the scar, that scar remains

I know I could have saved our love that night
If I'd known what to say
Instead of makin' love we both
Made our separate ways

But now, I hear you've found somebody new
And that I never meant that much to you
To hear that tears me up inside
And to see you cuts me like a knife

I guess, every rose has its thorn
Just like every night has its dawn
Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song
Every rose has its thorn.

Things are trying to look up

We finally got our central heat and air on Monday. It has been so nice because it was ungodly hot in here. Sometimes the thermostat was way over 90 degrees and you can't do much of anything with that kind of heat. Anyway, it's all set up and we're nice and cool.

We also got the pool set up. I was trading out some work for a pool maintenance company so we didn't even have to do it ourselves. I'm still working for them but it didn't cost us anything, including time.

So, things are definitely looking up. Now if only the economy would roll back to 2008 I'd be thrilled.

NMEDA: The Best in Helping the Disabled

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NMEDA. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you or someone you love is handicapped then you need to check out the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association, otherwise known as NMEDA. They’re a non-profit agency and they won’t try to sell you a thing; they’re there to help you. Every single one of their members is required to follow strict safety policies that are required by standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Their dealers sell vehicle modifications and handicap vans. They are also the one place that promotes safe driving and equipment for disabled persons.

With the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association you get one on one help and evaluations so that you don’t get a piece of equipment that doesn’t work for you. Since every person who is handicapped is unique, why settle for catalog or internet equipment that may or may not be a right fit?

NMEDA has dealers and Quality Assurance Program (QAP) dealers and each are unique. The Quality Assurance Program is one of a kind and the only program nationally recognized for the Adaptive Mobility Equipment Industry. They feel that they have to make a documented and systematic approach to quality in order to serve their customers and be sure of their satisfaction.

NMEDA can be the one group that can help disabled persons or elderly persons get back their independence.

Be sure to visit their site, enter your zip code and find a qualified dealer near you. In my area there are more than 5 dealers available. Leave a comment and let me know how many you found.

LOST Finale

So, what did you all think of LOST tonight? I really enjoyed the finale show and have yet to watch the 2 hour opening show. (Had to see Celebrity Apprentice)

Okay so we were right. Season 1 R and I both guessed that it was purgatory and while it wasn't for all of the castaways, it was a purgatory of sorts for Jack so yeah, we were right all along.

I guess the only thing I didn't totally understand was the flash sideways parts where they all recognized each other. Does this mean this is their lives without the island but they were on the island to help Jack? Either way it was brilliant and I'll miss it. I didn't always get to watch it on the night it came on but I always caught up on shows as soon as possible.

Brilliant show and definitely one of a kind. PS Loved the ending with Vincent lying beside Jack.

***I've read more on it and I guess I get everything now. Jack died on the island. The others may have died after or not yet but they were all with him at the end to help him move on. So the flash sideways was a creation of sorts and the island was real. Am I right?

My Sister's Keeper

I watched My Sister's Keeper today and to be honest, I thought it was really good. It stars Cameron Diaz, Jason Patric, Abigail Breslin, Elizabeth Daily, Joan Cusak and Alec Baldwin.

My Sister's Keeper is about a girl who sues her family for medical emancipation after being born to essentially help her sister live. You see, she is supposed to donate a kidney to her sister and this is after donating stem cells, bone marrow, etc all through her life.

What was surprising is that the movie actually had a few twists I never saw coming. Yes, it's a tearjerker but I loved the acting by the two girls and I was never bored. I'd recommend it if you like dramas. I might add that it was directed by Nick Cassavetes who also directed The Notebook.

PS The movie has a drastically different ending from the book.

Grey's Anatomy Season Finale - spoilers ahead

Wow! What an awesome show tonight. this is pretty much just a rundown of who all got shot and/or killed, not an entire synopsis.

I have to admit that sometimes Grey's can be a little fluffy but tonight was intense. I almost went to fix some dog food right when it started, knowing I wouldn't miss anything and that's right about the time Reed took a bullet, then Karev. It was shocking and definitely intense. From that point on it was a thrill ride that leaves you breathless.

Meredith is pregnant, Charles got shot, Derek gets shot, Owen gets shot and so on. The most heartbreaking moment to me wasn't when Meredith thought Derek was dead because I kind of figured that Christina and Mr. Blue Eyes planned that but when Bailey couldn't save Charles and we had to watch him die. Not only that but he confessed he always had a crush on Reed, not knowing she was already dead.

Owen is okay at the end, Derek will be okay and Karev will be okay. However, Meredith has a miscarriage while helping Owen. That was sad too. The whole show was awesome and I can't get over the word intense. I mean how scary is it to be in any kind of building with a shooter on the loose? I felt their fear. One of the best moments is when Derek realizes who the shooter is. The expression on his face is perfect acting similar to when Jeff Daniels realizes there is a bomb in the house in the movie Speed. I have to give props to Bailey too. Her acting was impeccable.

Awesome ending, awesome show.

Biggest Loser - Mike or Ashley?

Don't get me wrong, I like all of the contestants for the most part but there's something about Ashley and Michael that makes me want one of them to win. I don't know if it's because they were the largest or the fact that it seems they have a little something more than friendship. I could be wrong but they seem close and if so, I think that's great.

It was a shocker that poor Daris gained weight while at home but I did do a double take when he claimed it was due to training for the marathon but I wish him the best. I have to admit that I voted for Koli though. I felt like he was in Sam's shadow for so long and when he said he needed my vote, he got it.

I can't wait to see the finale and I'm just as excited to see Jillian's new show, Losing It.

My new ad

I had fun playing with a program on Rich's computer. That's me live in the video but the avatar makes the motions I am making. Never fear, I plan to do more of these; it's that much fun.

Modern Furniture

Do you like modern furniture or contemporary furniture? I’ve never had one but I’ve always wanted a leather sofa and I like modern furniture better than older styles. I guess I just like the clean lines and sleek look of them. We bought new bedroom furniture a few years back and even got a new sofa and love seat but to be honest, it’s time for a new set. I’m not sure when that will be but you never know, I might just get my leather sofa someday!

Darn a/c units

Well, we finally got to order our a/c unit and boy was that a hassle. The dimensions that it states on the specifications aren't what that unit really had. Are you confused? I am! Regardless, we have one on the way that is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Now R will have to alter the closet it will go into (no more attic unit yay) and Rick will put it in for us so we might just have a/c in a few days.

Along the lines of "if it's not one thing it's another" our pump on our pool is tore up. I am waiting to see if the place that is getting our pool ready has that part available. If they do then we might have the pool ready about the same time the a/c is. Now wouldn't that be great? Then I might get some awesome pictures like the one above of Blitz being a cool doggy. Those two love the pool more than anything. We have to spell it out if we're talking about it because otherwise they go nuts.

Field Trips for All

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Lunchables. All opinions are 100% mine.

I never had Lunchables growing up and that’s too bad because they’re super cool. But hey, we didn’t really have computers either and that sucks as well. I guess I’m sounding old now but I swear I’m not! Seriously though, lunch consisted of homemade sandwiches if you were bringing your own. My favorite was olive loaf sandwiches till I got food poisoning on a field trip. That or it was a mixture of the heat, the mayo and the softball game.

Anyway, Lunchables has this great new contest called Field Trips For All. It’s the first initiative from Project Potential brought to you by Lunchables Team. They’re doing this because in the current school year over 55% of school districts are eliminating field trips and how can that happen? Field trips are some of my fondest school memories and every kid should get to experience that. So with this contest anyone over the age of 6 can submit a nomination for a classroom and 50 classrooms will get to win an educational and fun field trip! Now how cool is that? Why not nominate your child’s school? I don’t have children but I did nominate my neighbor’s classroom. She’s a joy so I think it’d be great if her classroom won the contest. Be sure to nominate your favorite classroom as well. You can even reply to this post and tell me who you’d like to nominate.

Do not buy

Never buy an Ionic Pro. We've had five of these! I have three right now that are in need of a trash can and two I already tossed a long time ago. I seriously thought we just didn't clean them right when we got the red light of death but I looked online and it seems to be a huge issue with this product. I love having air purifiers in my house and this one would be great if it only worked 5 minutes after needing a cleaning. You can follow directions to a tee and it still won't work. I finally wrote them an e-mail and will be tossing these. It's not even worth buying two more and sending the broke ones back because within a month or less they won't work either.

Crowd Control

A lot of times it's necessary for crowd control. Whether it's a parade like the Mardi Gras parade we have here locally or needing a velvet rope for a club.

In fact, there are plenty of barricades used during the Mardi Gras parade just to keep people in the crowd safe.

Did you know that you can even get printing done on retractable belts? What an innovative way to advertise while still keeping people safe from harm. While barricades and ropes may be annoying to some, it's there to keep you free from being hurt so they're definitely a necessity that everyone can use at some time or another.

Why is it...

I have a few questions that I can't seem to find online.

Why do dogs drink out of the water bowl then spit it out on you? Like they'll come dribble it down my leg. I cannot find this online yet we've had/have three dogs that will do this. Big dogs obviously because Swan is too small. She'd have to spit on my feet. So since it's three different dogs it can't be just us.

Where do people come up with crazy rumors? Who starts this? I've read that you can smell the oil in the Gulf here where I live yet you can't. We do have some wildfires right now that I can smell but how do you confuse that? I remember during Hurricane Opal that we heard the Treasure Ship was gone, Club LaVela, etc and that wasn't true at all although there was significant damage on the beach. Houses were gone but the Treasure Ship did not look like a house. I say did since it burned up recently. :(

Last but not least, why can I take a nap in the afternoon at the drop of a hat yet when it's way past time to go to bed I'm like a 6 year old knowing that we're going to Disney in the morning and I can't sleep.

Medical Equipment

If you're looking for heart monitoring equipment for your business, you might want to check out the Welch Allyn Atlas Monitor or the Zoll M-Series Defibrillator. There's even a Welch Allyn CP100 EKG to complete your equipment needs. If you run a clinic, why not get a heads up on the competition by offering these services?

Betty White on SNL

How cool was it to finally get to see Betty White on Saturday Night Live? I didn't realize she was almost 90! Anyway, it was awesome and here was one of my favorite clips:

Really great depressing movies

I know, I've talked about my preference for dark movies before but I'm not sure if I had a list with links and all that. Even if I did I'm sure I've found more and besides, it's my blog, I can depress us all if I want! ;) BTW, I won't include movies that just make me cry because those are tearjerkers and not necessarily depressing. For instance, The Notebook or Marley and Me. On a side note, most depressing book ever: One Second After. Now if you do happen to read all of this I'd love for you to comment and share some of your favorite depressing movies or ask questions about these. :)

Dancer in the Dark - Who knew Bjork could act? This movie is brilliant and so very depressing but it's one of my favorites that I own but will watch anytime it's on when I'm flipping channels.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas - I love movies about the Nazis and this one is no exception. The ending was so horrifying and I never ever saw it coming.

Titanic - I saw this 4 times when it was out at the theaters and I cried every time. I'm a little jaded now and can make it without wailing but back then I was just devastated.

House of Sand and Fog - I love Ben Kingsley and I love this movie but the ending makes you want to throw a boom box in the tub. Great movie, hard to watch.

The Magdalene Sisters - I can watch this movie over and over. It's about 4 girls in Ireland during the 60's when most anything can get you thrown into the Magdalene laundries to atone for your sins. Worst of all, it's based on true events.

Trade - Nothing like a little sex trafficking movie to ruin your day. This movie is very raw and realistic.

Requiem for a Dream - What can I say about this movie? It's on everyone's top ten list as most depressing and it is. I love it but good gosh is it sad. There's a particular montage that is heartbreaking and you all know which part I mean if you've watched it.

8MM - Highly entertaining but you want to take a bath after seeing it. A very dark movie about a found snuff film. One you hope for a happy ending but noooo, we can't have that now can we?

Heavenly Creatures - Another movie I can watch over and over except for the ending. I totally freaked out R watching this one when he saw it. One of the times I got angry for being judged on a movie choice.

Boys Don't Cry - This movie is so depressing that I've watched it once and that's it. I can't watch it over and over because it's that darn sad and it makes me want to eat a bullet. (not literally y'all)

American History X
- Great movie about redemption and changing but that scene at the beginning still gives R nightmares. It involves a curb. The acting in this by Ed Norton is top notch.

Once Were Warriors - A little known movie about a Maori family. It's tragic and has no happiness at all. I love it but it's another that's hard to enjoy due to its depressing nature. Alcoholism, rape, domestic violence, suicide...what else can I tell you?

Monster's Ball - The one movie I refuse to watch again because it's that sad and depressing. If the other movies make you want to swim with electricity, this one makes you want to slice all of your arteries. I've never seen a more depressing movie and while it has an excellent story and acting, I just can't do it.

The Day After - Nuclear holocaust, nuff said.

Testament - Another nuclear movie. Less special effects than The Day After but more heartbreak if that's possible.

Right At Your Door - This is another movie that the ending wasn't something I saw coming even from a mile away. What would you do if there was a dirty bomb and your spouse came home after being exposed? Do you let them in?

The Boost - One of my all time favorite movies and it stars James Woods as a cocaine addict. R hates it but I must have seen it 20 times over the years.

The Wrestler - I adore Mickey Rourke and this movie reminded us what an excellent actor he is. Speaking of him, I recently watched Angel Heart again since it's now on BluRay and forgot what a dark and depressing movie this one is too.

Schindler's List
- How the heck did I forget this? The first time I saw it I called up my mom and dad and could barely form a coherent sentence. R was working nights back then so I was watching it alone and blubbering like crazy. I still do.

So You Want to Steal My Content?

No sooner did I write my Sin to Win post someone stole it; word for word. This is the offending blog http://www.2samachar.us/sin-to-win/92167.html which I refuse to link to. They have been sent a cease and desist letter and I have contacted Digg, StumbleOn, etc to let them know as well since this blog has a "share it" button. Geez people, if you're going to steal my stuff at least put my name on it. I won't tolerate being stolen from. That's why I have the copyright protection on my blog.

Sin to Win

Tonight's Criminal Minds had a little phrase I had to look up. Prentiss had to skip her "Sin to Win" weekend due to a case that came up. BTW, this case was set in Tallahassee Florida and although Criminal Minds is my favorite show ever, can we stop putting tags on the front of the cars? CSI Miami is guilty of this too. Hey research teams, we don't have front plates in Florida!

So anyway, it seems that it's a video game by EA Games that caused a little fuss a while back. At the Comic Con Convention they had participants take pictures of "lust" with the booth babes and tweet them. This is the theme because the game is aptly called Dante's Inferno and the sin of lust is one of the nine circles of Hell.

So, Prentiss just boosted up a notch in my book. Heck, I love all of the characters on the show and can't wait for the Criminal Minds spin-off.

Nightmare on Elm Street and more

We saw Nightmare on Elm Street Sunday and I loved it. It was pretty cool with Jacky Earle Haley in the role. He was meaner and I kind of liked that. They also did more on his past and what really happened. I liked that aspect too.

We upgraded our camera. Before anyone thinks we spent money on a new camera, we didn't. What we did was sell ours first and take that money and buy the upgraded one. So other than the tax we'd forgotten to add in, it didn't cost us a dime. Now how cool is that? Our camera went in just a couple of days on eBay and we got enough for the Nikon D3000 that is even more awesome. We're kind of resourceful that way. ;) Anyway, we got the whole package deal like we had before so it includes the carrying bag and zoom lens, etc.

I got a tiny "raise" where I do writing. It's a different tier of articles and it's super that I get paid more on these because so far, I really enjoy writing them. I've only done one so far because I want to make sure that it's done in the format they want. I also downloaded a grammar checker that helps if I write something wrong, which has happened. I didn't even know they had grammar checkers but I don't know why I shouldn't have figured that they did. "They" being the interwebz. LOL

Art and a Contest

I love Shawna Erbeck's paintings. I got one a while ago from Etsy. She's having a contest and the first person who entered got a free 8x10 and I won this gem. Well, I won one and picked that one. I also own this one. Right now she's having a contest for Mother's Day and there's three chances at a $250 shopping spree. Here's the link to enter!

My ring came back!

Some of you might remember that about 3 years ago I lost this beautiful ring that I was given as a gift. Then I got it again as a gift and while on our trip to Mexico in Feb I lost that one. The hotel found it then they lost it so they reimbursed me but I swore to never buy it again since it seems to wander off too often.

Tonight we were at R's mom's house for her garage sale tomorrow. We have this tote that I use to sell things like on Etsy and eBay. It had some books and a couple of movies, nothing major. R decided to clean it out and at the bottom of the tote was my original ring. That thing has been missing about 3 years! I must have had it on when I was putting something in the tote and it slipped off.

I hope this one stays around a little longer. You can view it at the link I posted or this is a picture of it above. The price has sure gone up from what it was bought 3 years ago.
