Spring Awakening - Glee

I have this thing I made on the wall in the hallway with Broadway playbills. Some of you might remember from when I made it. I have never noticed till today that the Spring Awakening playbill has Rachel (Lea Michele) and Jesse (Jonathan Groff) from Glee on it. Now I knew they were both in the play as the stars and all that but I had just never noticed them on the playbill since I put this up long before Glee aired the first time. Here's a picture of the same playbill. Pretty cool if you're a Glee fan such as myself.

Enrolling In Your Baby's Future

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of CryoCell International. All opinions are 100% mine.

Did you know that cord blood stem cells have been used to treat over 75 diseases in more than 12,000 transplants worldwide? If you’re pregnant, this can be information that’s even more useful in protecting you and your baby. You can actually “bank” your baby’s cord blood in case its needed.

GoodReads

I like to have my books in some kind of software so I know what I have - plus, I like lists. So I found GoodReads and have now logged in almost 600 books so far. I'm just about done other than some books in various places around the house but these are the shelved ones and the ones I'm reading. Boy did this take me a while but I'm so glad I did it so it's online rather than on my hard drive where if I lose my computer, I won't lose all of this work. Here's a neat widget showing what I'm reading now.

Kim's currently-reading book montage

The Passage

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Kim Hill's favorite books »

I forgot to add that what is really cool is there is also an iPhone App for it so if I am at a store and not sure if I have a certain book I can now look.

Add me as a friend on GoodReads.

Bathroom Remodel

A few years ago we remodeled our main bathroom and if I lived in the UK, Fairfield Bathrooms Direct sure would have come in handy. They have everything you could ever want for remodeling bathrooms.

From bathroom cabinets to towel warmers, it's all there. Who knew I even needed a towel warmer but after further consideration, how cool would that be to have in the winter? You'd get out of the shower and dry off with a fluffy, warm towel. I love the idea.

So if you do live in the United Kingdom, you'll find the best deals and discounts at Fairfield Bathrooms Direct.

Remember this?

Since some anonymous Internet coward implied I was old the other day I figured why not recall some of the things that will really make me sound old. Some of these are when I was little and had certain reasons like being in a rural area. By the way, I am not old and I am not decades over 40 and I got carded 3 years ago. So there! ;)

-You could dial the last 5 digits of a phone number instead of the entire number if you lived in the same area.

-Party lines - these were only at my granddad's house but he lived in the woods. My cousin and I used to try to pick up on calls and listen in for fun. They had an old outhouse too that was left over from the old days.

-When MTV played just videos but you had to pay extra to get it. Back when I was younger MTV and a few other stations were part of a Cable II package that was extra. I went to friends' houses to watch it because we did not have it.

-Video jukebox on HBO. What we did have was HBO and years ago between movies you either got a short film or a video jukebox. I loved that! OMG y'all, I found the intro!

-My parents still used the alphabet for phone number prefixes. Like my mom would say, "Their number is PO3-xxxx." I recently saw Betty do that on Mad Men.

-People could smoke in offices and restaurants. Hey, that wasn't that long ago but now it just seems weird. I see it on Mad Men all the time and it's so strange to me but one of my first jobs I had, the secretary there would smoke incessantly at her desk. Years later when I worked there again she still did since it was family owned and a small business.

-My purple transistor radio that I'd take to school. It did AM/FM and late at night I could listen to baseball games and talk radio out of NY and places like that. I still find it neat so I've kind of always wanted a shortwave radio. Rich says that's dorky (an old person term) but hey, when the apocalypse comes it'll be our only form of communication!

I won't go through the rest since most people remember them. Things like 8-Tracks (I never owned any but my brother had an 8-Track player in his Roadrunner. Nice car BTW), no computers, cell phones or that type of thing, playing video games in the convenience store before school, etc.

GiveOpp

What if you could have a home business that not only helped you out but helped people in need across the globe? That's exactly what GiveOpp hopes to achieve. Project GiveOpp is still in its beta stage but their video is very informative. Basically, you help others while working at home and making money as well.

GiveOpp's mission is to empower individuals with opportunity and facilitate humanitarian and environmental aid where it is needed in the world.

There is a membership application fee but if you are not chosen to be part of the team your money is fully refunded.

Fake Bake

One of the things I got with that big Amazon gift certificate was some Fake Bake sunless tanning lotion. I love sunless tanning and although I have a tiny tan from going in the pool, I like to have a little more. This stuff had the best reviews so I ordered some.

It's weird at first. You put it on with the gloves that are provided and you look very black. I'm thinking, "Oh no!" but I read the reviews saying that it washes off. That is simply your guide to know where to put the stuff. I've had stuff like that before but this doesn't disappear till you shower. You're supposed to wait 6 hours but I have no idea what I'll be doing in 6 hours so in a couple of hours I showered. It all washed off and now I have a nice looking tan. I'm very pleased!

Hilton Branson Convention Center & Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Hiltons of Branson. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you’re planning a trip to the popular Branson, Missouri this summer then you simply must stay at the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel or Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing. Located right in the heart of all of the excitement, you’ll be able to find things to do for every single person in your family or group. There are even package deals that will save you money such as a bed and breakfast package, advance purchase rates and an exciting romance package for a “do not disturb” getaway! I also love that they are a pet friendly hotel and advertise it right on the front page. Us pet owners really appreciate that kind of welcome.

Another thing I like is the location. I can plan a day of shopping at the Tanger Outlet Mall(and believe me, that’s the first place I’d hit) and then take a 3 minute ride to the Theatre District or Silver Dollar City; a theme park with fun things like the Marvel Cave and a few awesome looking roller coasters.
I have a feeling that’s the first place Rich would head! Regardless of whatever activities we choose, I know we’ll enjoy our stay and that’s just as important as the rest of a vacation.

Favorite Lifetime Movie-Like Dramas

I have a guilty pleasure and that's dramas focusing on spouse abuse or teenagers getting stabbed. Some of them are Lifetime movies and the rest are usually shown there. Here's some of my favorites:

A Cry For Help: The Tracy Thurman Story
- I love this movie. It stars Nancy McKeon and Dale Midkiff and is based on a true story of a woman who was almost killed by her husband while the police did nothing. Very shocking when you see what Buck did to Tracy.

Provoked - This is another true story with Aishwarya Rai and Naveen Andrews about a woman in India who murders her abusive husband. If you buy it make sure it's the English speaking version or else you'll have to learn Hindi.

The Burning Bed - An oldie but goody. I wanted to slap the husband's parents who witnessed the abuse and ignored it.

Death of a Cheerleader - How can you go wrong with Tori Spelling and Kellie Martin? This one was an NBC movie in 1994 but it's shown on Lifetime quite often.

Shattered Innocence - The true story (aren't they all here so far?) but fictionalized account of the porn star Shauna Grant, who committed suicide in 1984. I love this movie so much that I had to resort to alternative means to get it since it's not on DVD. Same thing with the Tracy Thurman story.

Bully - This one is true as well and was a real movie, not a made-for-TV movie. It stars the deceased Brad Renfro, Nick Stahl and Rachel Miner. It's set in Florida and depicts some friends that murder another friend who is a bully. Very intense stuff and not for young viewers at all.

The Girl Next Door - I'm seeing a trend here. This one is true but where there is a more realistic account of what happened this one is more "sensationalized" but I liked it best to be honest. This is about the torture of Sylvia Likens and her sister and took place in the 1960's. Hard to watch so I've seen it twice ever. Interestingly, the mother in the film and the torturer is the same girl/woman who played Molly Ringwald's sister in Sixteen Candles.

I bet I am forgetting one of my favorites but these are a few for now. I should do a post on movies you can't get on DVD and have to find elsewhere.

Ghost Ship at Morey's Piers

You all know how much I love ghost ships. In fact, just a few weeks ago, if not less, I wrote about them and how fascinating they are. Well, it’s too bad I don’t live near New Jersey because Morey’s Piers Amusement Park has the exciting new attraction called Ghost Ship at Morey's Piers. With over 15,000 feet of terror, I’d love to visit and although I know it's only make believe, haunted houses still scare me for some reason.

Annoyed

My Internet has been going in and out for the last two days. So they are coming out today to look at it but had to fit me in. That part I don't mind. However, I can't work because even writing my articles requires research even if I wrote them on another program. I can't nap or go in the pool because they are coming sometime today by 5:00 PM. It's almost 3:00 PM now. I did watch a couple of movies but one was so horrible it was a waste of my time. The other was one I own. I hate when the Internet is unstable or has some kind of problems. As you can see, I'm online but it's too iffy right now to do any real work. I just hope it's something simple and they can fix it and I won't have to wait longer.

Oxis: For Anti-Aging

OXIS is a company that's sole purpose is to research, create and sell products that combat the harmful effects of oxidative stress.

One of the products is Ergothioneine, which is an antioxidant that helps promote health. It's found in common things such as dairy, soil and grapes but is hard to get enough of in a daily diet.

Glutathione is another product that is being developed. It's a small molecule found in every cell and is an excellent antioxidant since it is within the cell itself. Antioxidants are a basis for good health because they neutralize free radicals. Since glutathione exists within the cells, it is in a perfect position to neutralize free radicals. All of this helps with anti-aging.

While OXIS may be at the penny stocks stage, with additional products lined up and existing anti-aging products, it's just a matter of time before they're a household name.

Told off?

I recently found one of my submissions on this cool site where you can rant about former bosses. Well, you can read my little submission but one of the stupid comments had me wondering.
The person asks how many decades over 40 I am because I used the comment, "I told them off."
Okay so you tell me readers, what the hell comment should I have used? What is younger sounding? I mean come on, I can text pretty fast, I'm Internet, smart phone, music and movie savvy and I love immature bathroom jokes. So just how young should I be acting and talking? Sure, I don't type out crap like IDK or shorten words and say stuff like, "Dey all hatin my worz i wrot out on dat site" but really? Is "telling someone off" an indication that I am old?

PS Two out of the six comments so far were the only ones that were idiotic. The rest were nice. (so far) If anyone wants the link just e-mail me. Oh my bad, I bet I should have used the F word instead of hell. And again, I used "my bad" and that's so like 1990. The cycle continues.

FriendGiftr Gift Cards

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of FriendGiftr. All opinions are 100% mine.

FriendGiftr is an awesome site that allows you to purchase gift cards for friends and family. So you’re thinking, so what? Well, what is neat about them is that the recipient can exchange the gift card for a merchant they’d rather visit instead of the one you sent if they choose and the sender never knows. Not only that but there’s no extra cost.

So just think, I can send a friend a gift card to AMC Theaters and they could exchange it for a gift card to Red Lobster
. They can even split up the card between different merchants. With over 120 stores to choose from, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. I know this would have definitely come in handy for a family member that I wasn’t sure of what to get for their birthday. This way they could have chosen from one of the merchants and enjoyed their gift card however they wanted.

You can choose from $10, $20, $25, $35, $50, $75, and $100 gift cards and can utilize the service from their website, Facebook, iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android. I like that I can buy a gift card right from my iPhone! Imagine the possibilities now when buying gifts!

Early to bed....

...and? No, that's not me. But I do have to admit to going to bed earlier lately. I don't know if it's because I am exercising late but I've been more tired at night than usual. Every night right when Rich goes to bed I use the treadmill. I can tell I'm getting better at it because it used to be more tiring and now I find myself turning up the speed some, especially when getting close to being done. Not only that but I started out doing a half mile and now that has become much easier. I want to work up to the 5K, which I believe is 3.8 miles. It's nice to be able to watch TV and walk but I do find it hard not to focus on how far I have gone instead of just focusing on whatever it is I'm watching and ignoring the mileage. I'm sure I'll grow out of that.

So if it is the exercising making me tired at least it's a healthy kind of tired.

Ken Block and DC Shoes Collaboration

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of PacSun. All opinions are 100% mine.

Ken Block, DC Shoes and Ford have teamed up to bring you Ken Block Gear. Ken Block began a career in rally racing in 2005 and quickly became the rookie of the year in the Rally America Championship. Along with his impressive career in racing, he’s the co-founder of DC Shoes, performance skateboarding and action sports brand. Ken Block teamed up with Ford to market the World Rally Championship and the Rally America series. Basically, Ken Block wants America to know all about rally racing and his viral campaigns are unprecedented.

This new line is available at PacSun stores and my personal favorite item is the DC Shoes Ken Block Monster Rally Hoodie. This hoodie is awesome! Why not pick your favorite item and let me know what you liked? There are awesome choices and something for everyone. You can also choose from hats and t-shirts as well as the hoodies.

A little information about the Monster World Rally Team is that it was created by Ken Block and meant to redefine the race team model. Not only are they concerned about winning but also to market the sport and bring in new fans through ground-breaking and imaginative ways.

My New Singing Bowl

I just got my new singing bowl today and I love it. It makes the most beautiful sounds that people say relaxes you because the vibrations of the singing bowls have the same wavelength found in the brainwaves that produce feelings of relaxation. Either way, it sounds beautiful.

However, I had to look up how to use it because I thought you used the mallet on the inside of the bowl but no, it's the outside. I can just picture the Tibetan Monks laughing at me! Good price at Amazon too!

Boost Your Low Testosterone

If you're a man who is looking to boost your low testosterone or simply need Testosterone Supplements then look no further. Mark Wilson has an extensive site with information on testosterone boosters, sex boosting supplements, boosting human growth hormone levels and more. Everything you could want or need to find out seems to be on his site.

Now personally, I don't need to boost my testosterone levels unless it means I won't cry at every Humane Society commercial but hey, I'm a girl. I think this would be a site that any guy would want to check out. There's even information on fertility, exercise and foods; anything you'd ever need to know that involves testosterone.

Check it out because you may just find out something you never knew that could be very helpful in your day to day living.

Things Are Looking Up Again

Things are finally looking up again. Rich has been getting so much overtime it's unbelievable. And while it gets in the way of doing anything sometimes the checks sure do make up for it. On top of that I had a great day this weekend working with a customer of mine who pays very well for help with their site updates, etc. So I spent 10 hours with them! Now that's a deposit I can't wait to get.

I also have another writing gig with a place I worked for in the past and did well at. WRG contacted me last week and they have a new set of orders that may turn out to be long term gigs. Between that one and the one I already do, things are going well. Add to all of that this site I found that is really working out where you can do something for someone for $5. It's called Fiverr and I've done quite well on it so far doing blog posts and things like that.

So in a nutshell, we've been hard at work but it's paying off. I almost feel like it's 2008 again.

Rent and ...Say What?

We went by a place today that rents to own tires and rims. With Rich's new truck we thought it might be a neat idea so we could make payments on them since he needs tires at some point anyway. We were being proactive, or so I thought.

We got there and the prices almost made me pass out from sticker shock. For four tires and rims it was $100 down and $85 per week. That's more than we pay on either of our vehicles. Not to mention it was for 65 weeks. That's over $5500! Geez! We thanked them and went on our way.

On a side note I stopped by a certain jewelry store to pick up my ring and his watch and as usual they were there but had the doors locked and were having lunch at 3:00. At least we got our new bank cards re-pinned since our bank was taken over.

Itinerary Found!

Rich found the itinerary for that Princess cruise. Note the stop to Columbia among other ports. Maybe that part of Columbia is safe. At least they're not going to Juarez, Mexico so who am I to complain?

The sailing will include port calls in Colombia, Costa Rica, Bahrain, Tokyo and Slovenia.

The itinerary also will include a passage through the Panama Canal, Hawaii,Australia, New Zealand, China, Vietnam, Thailand, India, Egypt and Croatia.

The voyage will include overnight calls in Sydney, Hong Kong and Dubai.

I still think it's neat to be able to say you've been to all these places. I guess if I were super rich and could afford the almost $23K per person price tag I'd just do a short jaunt at the more questionable ports of call.

Florida retirement communities

If you or someone you love (do I sound like that commercial for the Hover Round or is it the diabetes commercial?) needs to find out information on Florida retirement communities then there's a handy guide you can use.

It lists by the area, categories such as 55 and over communities, golf communities, luxury homes, manufactured homes and more! You can search for most anything dealing with Florida retirement communities and find exactly what you need to help you make an informed decision for yourself or a loved one. There's even categories with age restrictions and beach living. Just about everything is covered!

Don't leave it to chance in making such an important decision. Find Florida retirement communities and get the best source of information out there.

Cruising where?

Rich pulled up an itinerary from Princess tonight that included some really odd choices for destinations. It was a cruise for like 104 days. I can't pull it up any longer but one of the ports of call he said was Columbia. Okay so I can't find that one but here are the destinations for the 107 day one. Now I looked up some of these odd choices and some are supposedly safe for visitors and I think it'd be awesome to visit them but I still might be a little apprehensive. Oh and we don't get to the odd choices till later in the cruise when you're feeling super excited after visiting Australia. PS I care not to cause any kind of international incident for commenting on a country I feel is an odd choice. :P

Ft Lauderdale
Grand Cayman (yay!)
Panama Canal (yay!)
Quito, Ecuador (yay)
Lima, Peru (double yay)
Easter Island, Chile (sounds yay to me)
Pitcairn Island (no idea on this one)
Papeete, Tahiti (woo hoo)
Polynesia (yay)
Auckland, New Zealand (awesome)
(Sydney, Adelaide, Bunbury, Fremantle) Australia (double awesome)
Bali, Indonesia
Sihanoukville, Cambodia (say what?)
Bangkok, Thailand (oh okay, that's fine)
Singapore
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (neat)
Adaman Islands, IN (I have no clue)
Mumbai, India
Muscat, Oman (who?)
Dubai, United Arab Emirates (cool)
Seychelles Islands, (Port Victoria)
Maputo, Mozambique ( maybe)
(Durban, East London, Cape Town) South Africa (I've watched 20/20 you people!)
Luderitz & Walvis Bay, Namibia (Google says this is safe)
Lome, Togo
Tema, Ghana (another supposed safe area)
Dakar, Senegal (even Google warned about this one)
Casablanca (Marrakech), Morocco (hey cool)
Gibraltar, Great Britain (do we get to see the Rock of Gibralter or is that even there?)
Barcelona, Spain
Toulon, France
Monte Carlo, Monaco (James Bond style)
Portofino, Italy
Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy

Wait, we disembark in Italy? How am I going to get home? I've just been at sea for 107 days and now I have to wait to fly home? Well that seals the deal folks. It also seems that the Rock of Gibralter really is in the UK so now I don't have to fear looking silly unless someone in Senegal calls me out for saying their country was unsafe.

Abstract Art work

I love artwork and especially abstract art and surrealism so I was delighted to find this artist that has original abstract art. I always like to be able to buy art and once in a while I can get something I love.

If you love original abstract art you'll love T. Miller. From oil paintings and modern art to fine art and abstract art, you can view their gallery and see how beautiful everything is. Their contemporary art area also has some beautiful paintings. My favorite in that area is Old Wall. In the abstract area I love Elemental Blue.

Check them out and see what you think about her fine art!

Busy Day

Today I've had a busy day so far. I went with my mom to visit someone in the hospital and I swear we had to walk a mile. I'll still do my treadmill later but not in sandals! I also picked up the newsletters to deliver, took her to lunch and now I have work to do. We also have a meeting to attend later.

I like laid back days where all I have to do is work. At least I got up fairly early today. Way early for me. To top it off it's so hot here it's oppressive. The twins went in the pool while I was gone and I totally don't blame them. I now have two semi-wet doggies.

Longer Eyelashes

I was once told I had beautiful eyelashes and this was from a plastic surgeon! No, I didn't have work done, I had a skin cancer removed. Not so glamorous now is it? Since then I have focused on eyelashes and what I can do to make mine longer.

If you're looking for eyelash growth you might want to try Envyderm Eyelash Growth Serum. It's an all natural clinically proven , paraben free and safe to help you grow longer , thicker and darker lashes in as little as two weeks. It's also easy to use! You just apply it like you would eyeliner. You do this once a day and that's it. Now how easy is that? Some people see results in as little as two weeks and it lasts for 3-5 months so you definitely get your money's worth. With a 60 day money back guarantee why not see if it's right for you?

Randomness

I got my 2nd treadmill in the mail today and it was damaged as well. Luckily between the two we were able to make a working treadmill. LOL I called Amazon and they gave me a $50 credit. I just have to have UPS pick up the one we're sending back.

On that note, I walked half a mile tonight after dinner. I want to get up to a 5K, which is my goal. It's nice to be able to watch TV and walk. I like it.

Swan had this swollen thing on her foot with pus in it. I'd been keeping an eye on it in case it was a spider bite but she had no adverse symptoms. Tonight I was looking at it, squeezed it and this huge thorn thing came out. It was one of those wheat like thorns that get on your clothes. They're in bushes and they're wheat colored. That's what came out of her foot. Weird! I'm glad that's what it was though. We've been treating it with triple antibiotic and cleaning it with peroxide.

I've had a sinus infection or at least a low grade of it. I bought some meds and they're helping a lot. Just OTC stuff but you wouldn't believe how fast it cured the headache(s) part.

My first bedroom is officially clean. It was such an overwhelming chore since we lost almost 3 closets with the new a/c. However, PawPaw came over today and helped me and we both knocked it out in like an hour or two. I'm so glad you can walk in there now. Took a bunch of stuff to The Humane Society Thrift Store and there's a few things that can be straightened up but it's a room again.

That's it for me. This sinus thing makes me so tired but I have been getting up earlier usually.

The Event

I am so watching this!

San Francisco auto repair

Finding the right place to learn about vehicle repairs can be a real hassle but now you don't have to worry.

If you're looking for San Francisco auto repair or Manhattan auto repair then you've come to the right place. From an alternator to a timing belt, you can find it all. It doesn't even matter what type of car you own. You could be driving a Honda Accord or a Hummer and you'd be able to find exactly what you need.

Believe me, we've had our share of car repairs in the past. I think I hate them worse than anything. Even stuff under warranty, I just hate having the car or truck in the shop. At least there's something that can make me feel a little more assured when having to deal with repairs.

Booms

Rich got these pictures yesterday of the booms in our bay. I am still hopeful we won't need them but it's good to have protective measures out there. No oil on the beaches yet, thank God. I just pray it continues to stay that way.

A Party Bus? Heck Yeah!

I’ve always wanted to ride somewhere in a limousine. Somewhere where I’ll be important or can just have a party in one. Well, if you live in the Detroit area there’s something even more special available, Detroit Limo Service.

What is so special about Detroit Limo Service? It’s a limo bus! Picture a limousine inside of a bus so you have more room to have fun. Whether you have a party to attend or a special event like a wedding, Detroit Party Bus is the happening ride in Michigan. They cover many popular areas and have all the amenities of a limo such as a loud sound system, a bar, blue LED lighting, wood flooring, iPod docks and even a stripper pole! The only difference is that you’ll have more room; it’s as simple as that.

No oil but we have...a storage tank?

There's no oil on beautiful Panama City Beach yet and let's hope it stays that way. However, today a storage tank from Deepwater Horizon washed up.

I honestly don't know if we'll get oil or not but I am optimistic that we won't. We took pictures last weekend of the gorgeous beach and all has been clear; no oil and no tar balls.

Let's hope that it continues to stay this way and everyone can continue to enjoy our snow white sands.

Choices

Tomorrow...what to do? There's the sparkling clean pool and the temperature has been hovering around 90 but there's also the first bedroom we have to clean due to the installation of the new air conditioning unit. Maybe we can fit both in. I know I want us to get some new pictures of the dogs in the pool, especially since it's crystal clear right now. I say that because when they are in and out of it all summer they tend to dirty it up faster but it looks great right now.

I'm somewhat tired today. I went to bed early last night. Seriously! Then like at 3:30 AM Swan started barking, wanting to go out. I could have killed her! (not really) So I got back up and have been up since. I'll probably go lie down after a while and catch up on my sleep. So far today I've worked and even watched a movie. Not bad on 3 hours of sleep.

I already miss Glee

I already miss Glee and it just ended. However, if you missed the season finale I have so thoughtfully embedded it for you. How can you not like Quinn having her baby to the sounds of Queen sang by Jesse? And by the way, I'll miss Jesse big time! If only I were 16 again. (and a boy) At least I'll get some sort of relief with the Tony Awards this Sunday. I can't wait for those each year. So I think I'll go add the Glee DVD's to my wish list.

The Passage

I haven't been this excited about a book for quite some time. I mean sure, Swan Song and The Stand are my favorite books ever but there hasn't been an epic apocalyptic book since those two. However, I do have to give a shout out to One Second After, which while it wasn't an epic novel, it's one of my favorites as well.

The Passage
comes out on Tuesday 6/8 and I have it pre-ordered (via my gift certificate from a friend Amazon, what do you think? I'm made of money!) and I am so excited I can't wait. I've read the first 15 pages and well, let's just say I wish it were here already. I only hope I'm not building it up to be disappointed but so far I have heard from others who have read it that it's that good.

Attend USC from Home

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of USC. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love being able to work from home but what if I could go to school from home as well? You can get a Masters Degree at USC in teaching and best of all; you can do it from any part of the country. You don’t even have to live in California to attend. At USC Rossier School of Education you get the benefits of the elite USC but can do it and never even have to leave your home.

Offered to students are such benefits as a groundbreaking tuition reimbursement program, an accelerated program, which can be completed in under a year and an exceedingly interactive only study program with field based experience in your own town. Not only that, but you also get full USC student benefits and status including the opportunity to participate in graduation ceremonies and a free lifetime alumni membership.

Why pass up such an awesome opportunity? If teaching is your career of choice then why not be able to get all of your education from an environment you’re familiar with and from a school that is such a widely recognized college? They even have scholarships for qualifying students so what do you have to lose? Get the program information and see how you can benefit from this opportunity.

An Oil Slick Rant

This oil spill is just sickening. I saw the most heart wrenching photos of the poor birds coated in crude oil, which is not like the oil you get for your car. Crude oil sticks and is hard to get off. I remember seeing the Dawn commercials where they're cleaning animals and it was heartwarming. I had no idea how the poor animals really look in this mess. And it seems that every thing that happens lately becomes a political fight between the left and the right. That's another thing that is sickening. Focus your energy on being mad at what happened and who needs to fix it, not each other.

One more thing. I'm tired of seeing people rant and rave that people who drive large SUV's are the people at fault. I drive a large SUV, the largest there is pretty much. Here's some information for you all. We use about $40 a week in gasoline at most, sometimes every two weeks in that truck. I work at home and school is less than a mile away. Now who out there who has a small vehicle can say the same? Not many. And by the way, how do you think you get your food, medicine and anything else essential? It's brought by semi trucks, airplanes and trains. Those use oil. So unless you have a solution to fix how we get the things we need shut the hell up.

I live on the Gulf Coast where we have white sands and emerald clear water and this might reach us. In fact, it's likely. Not only will our beaches be ruined but think of the job less in a town that is mostly tourism related. My husband just got back to work in March so now what happens when the tourists stop coming? What happens to Louisiana, Alabama, etc? Consider job loss, the precious animals and the gorgeous beaches instead of fighting with each other.

I've said what I had to say so if anyone doesn't like it, have at it.

Keep Your Kids Safe

Most people find it necessary at some point to track computer activity. Whether it’s keeping an eye on what your kids are doing or you own a business where it’s necessary to monitor your employees, you might need software to help out. Now I personally can’t stand businesses that block sites from their employees but if I had children I’d certainly want this software. It’s too unsafe these days no matter what type of sites you think your children visit. There’s always the chance that someone that shouldn’t will try to talk to them or they’ll come up on a site that’s unsafe. Don’t risk it, get something that will help you.

Does a 3g OtterBox Fit a 2g iPhone?

Why yes it does! You'll see plenty of information online saying that they do not fit but they do. Now I am talking about the Impact series, not the Defender series. However, I talked to a shop in Destin that sells OtterBoxes and they said that the Defenders fit as well.

So we got our OtterBoxes in today and they fit like a dream except these are for the 3g phones and we both have the 2g iPhones. The outer casing goes on perfectly and so does the screen protector. I've done everything with my phone I normally do and all of it works normally. There's no trying to find the button underneath the skin and even the side buttons can be used for volume and there's no fumbling with it.

So, if you have a 2g iPhone and want an OtterBox, I at least know that the Impact Series works great.

My Mini Moment" contest

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Dove Ice Cream. All opinions are 100% mine.

Dove Ice Cream Miniatures has an awesome new contest. It’s called "My Mini Moment" contest and they’re asking women to share with them their favorite little moment of escape. One winner gets one of three mini grand prizes: spa services for a year, a mini home makeover or a mini getaway to Napa Valley. Now how cool would that be? All you have to do is submit a photo and short essay by June 7, 2010.

Dove Ice Cream Miniatures are yummy goodness and best of all they’re only 70 calories each! They come with ice cream wrapped in Dove chocolate and they have a couple of delicious new flavor with the decadent CafĂ© Collection including Java Chip and Cappuccino Flavors. How yummy does that sound right about now?

Dove believes that “me time” is important to their consumers and I agree. I love having my own “me time” to just relax and get away from it all. Dove Ice Cream Miniatures recently did a survey of over 400 moms and they were wowed to find that over 70% of the survey takers do take time to themselves each day. This contest celebrates that and those moments we cherish.

Since everyone has a different idea of what their favorite mini escape is, Dove has given three indulgent choices.

I'm Tired

I know, sounds boring but it's true. My schedule is so messed up that when I want to sleep I can't and when I'm tired is when I want to be doing things. Take now for instance. There's nothing wrong with being up at 11 AM. The problem is that I haven't gone to bed. I went, I tried, I failed. Now granted I took a nap this past afternoon, evening, whenever it was but even though I am tired right now, I can't sleep. I want to be one of those people who can go to bed around say midnight or 1 AM then get up at 9 AM or something normal. This weird sleep schedule just makes me feel like I have jet lag. Now if I had some yummy liquid Lortab that'd make me sleep but that was for surgery and long long long gone years ago. Besides, then I'd end up on Intervention or something. Hey, it's better than Hoarders! So I'll just try to sleep the natural way but so far it's an epic fail.
