Is Shameless treated unfairly in the USA?

Not from what I've heard. Thanks to my friend, Melissa we have started watching Shameless and we're totally hooked on it now. We are almost caught up with the second season and can't wait for the third to start. I had to rent the first season on Netflix. I originally got excited when I found it on Hulu but it was the British version. I watch tons of British shows but for this show I wanted to see the American version since I'm a big fan of Joan Cusack and William H. Macy. If you're not familiar with this show, it is about a family in Chicago. They're poor, they're loyal and they don't make apologies for how absolutely reprehensible they can be. It's hilarious at times, sad at other times and I can't get enough.

Banfield Update

I got a call from the Chief of Staff at Banfield here locally. We talked for a while about what all happened and she did do a few things I liked. Our primary vet will only be the one we had that we liked and the next visit for Donner is free. That is, if we choose to go back. I may give them another chance since it was mostly the vet's fault so we shall see how it goes but I did appreciate her calling me. Now if I can only last through Donner's side effects. I'm at the end of my rope with doing laundry. :( Poor dog, it isn't his fault.

Donner Update

Turns out that we are not so happy with Banfield after all. This time we did not like our vet and she spent very little time with Donner. She wanted $400 in things done to him and ended up giving him a steroid shot and antibiotics. The steroid shot has made him urinate all over the house all day long. I found out online that it is one of the side effects. When I called about it however, they wanted more testing done instead of just telling us that was a side effect. I think we are up to 15 loads of laundry now with having to clean the floors. At least his skin is doing better but this was not a side effect we wanted at all. He is also not eating well and that's another side effect. Had we known these we'd have weighed whether we wanted this shot at all but were not given that choice.

Donner's Vet Visit

We finally got to see the vet about Donner's skin problems and his urination issues. We'd been before but he was having problems again. Now he's had a steroid injection and some antibiotics that should help him out. What I do like about Banfield is that they let you see your bill before they do anything. For instance, they wanted to put him on Comfortis and added it to the estimate. I won't put him on that because German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois cannot tolerate too much of the Ivermectin and can die from it. So, we took it off. We also took off a few other things we will have done later or can do on our own. He's not scratching as much now so that's a good sign. He goes back in two weeks for a check up.

Since I'm on the Subject of Customer Service

Since I just mentioned customer service, I will never go back to Walgreens. CVS has my business from now on. Some of you know about their ad that was wrong. We went to Walgreens to use a couple of coupons and get this great deal. Well, the ad stated Nivea for Men 2/$7. Exclused Q10 and Rollers. That means you can get the rest, right? Turns out they'd only honor the one in the photo. WTF? I called corporate and all they'd do is honor the ad. I decided to go to CVS and they were friendly, helpful and I got over $60 worth of stuff for $30. Walgreens has lost my business for good since this is the second time.

You all have probably seen me write about Alfonso Fanjul quite a bit. I just found out that he got his honorary doctorate from Fordham University and is the co-founder of Mission International Rescue Charities in the Dominican Republic, a member of the Florida Council of 100, a trustee of the University of Miami, was formerly a director of Pennzoil Co. and Florida Power & Light Corporation. Now how impressive is all of that? As the formal Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Fanjul Corp. and Florida Crystals Corporation, he has a lot of responsibility, which makes Alfonso Fanjul someone that I admire.

Green Mountain Customer Service

I wanted to share how great the customer service is at Green Mountain Coffee. I called them because I had what they call an exploding K-Cup. I had tried to brew a cup of coffee and it only brewed a little bit then spilled when I removed it. I wasn't asking for anything, just curious as to what happened. The customer service rep not only walked me through how to clean the needle on my Keurig, she is sending me some K-Cups too. You don't get customer service like that anymore. I am thoroughly pleased!

Just in case you're curious - the coffee I was brewing was Chocolate Covered Donut. Nom!
