Wake Low?

I learned about a new weather condition today - a wake low. I've never even heard of it till now. A wake low is also known as a wake depression. According to Wikipedia:
A wake low, or wake depression, is a mesoscale low-pressure area which trails the mesoscale high following a squall line.[1] Due to the subsiding warm air associated with the systems formation, clearing skies are associated with the wake low.
All I know is that we had really bad weather today. It thundered, lightninged I think (I didn't get to see any since we were indoors) and we had tons of rain and wind. Supposedly this is a rare weather phenomenon which is most likely why I've never heard of it even though I've lived here all of my life.
