I work at home and online so I know the importance of open source programs. What open source programs are is a way of getting a program for free. For instance, I use Photoshop and pay a monthly fee for Adobe Creative Cloud. Now I love my programs but let's say that you can't afford a monthly fee or can't afford the entire program, which is quite expensive. This is also a great way of trying out programs to find the one you like the most before shelling out a ton of money only to find that it's something you don't like or can't use.
