Winterset Hollow by Jonathan Edward Durham

I finished Winterset Hollow last night, and I'm frothing at the mouth to read it again. (Champing at the bit, maybe? Let's just say I'm excited.)
Imagine your favorite book as a child. Possibly it's Wizard of Oz or A Wrinkle In Time. Perhaps it's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, or you miss Narnia. In this novel, it's a beloved book called Winterset Hollow.
Now, what if you could live within the book you love? You'd meet your favorite characters - yes, even talking animals. How wonderful that would be?
In this case, it's not so incredible. Nor is it a good thing after all.
This book goes from a beautiful fantasy, to a horrific cat and mouse (no pun intended) chase between the protagonists and those you also grow to love. I found myself stunned at times, with surprises I never saw coming. Some sharp as knives, some a subtle nod to what's really going on.
There are no true winners except the reader. The emotions you feel for both sides are strong. I found myself horrified, delighted, and full of empathy for the hunters and the hunted alike.
I can't begin to tell you what a truly astounding book this is. I want a collector's copy. I want a prequel. Not only that, but I want the original tale about Barley Day.
Furthermore, I want to visit this beautiful place for myself - if only as a safe spectator. I'd want a movie, yet I feel there is no way the novel could be done justice. But hey, I'd take that chance just to see this in living color.
