The Melting Pot

I've always wanted to go to a Melting Pot restaurant and although we had one here years ago, the closest one is in the Destin area. Sunday I finally got to go to one. Okay first off, the food was unreal. We loved it! It was kind of different than I had expected but so yummy. We had four courses:

Feng Shui Cheese which is Gruyere cheese with sake, white wine, mirin, horseradish and chive. That is served with bread, apples and vegetables.

Then we had a salad and I might add I was pleased that they put eggs on the salad.

Then the main course was Sesame Crusted Teriyaki Sirloin, Citrus Infused Pork Tenderloin, Sushi-Grade Ahi Tuna, Garlic Chili Chicken Breast, Kiwi Lime Shrimp, Spring Vegetable Dumplings, and Fresh Vegetables. This had two types of batter and about 10 dipping sauces.

Last but OMG not least was the dessert course. We got the Chocolate S’mores which is Milk chocolate topped with marshmallow cream, flambéed and garnished with crushed
graham crackers. The dippers you get with that are: Fresh strawberries, bananas, cheesecake, Rice Krispies Treats®, marshmallows, pound cake and brownies.

I'll definitely go back during a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary. I absolutely loved it.

Today - Suckage and Fun

Today had its highs and lows. I went with my mom to the DMV and due to the new rules to save us from terrorists, we got nothing accomplished. Now you have to bring 2 utility bills, a birth certificate and a marriage license. It doesn't matter if you were married like 40 years ago, it's considered a name change under the new rules. Mom didn't have the valid certificates so those had to be ordered after a trip back home then to the health department, back to the DMV, back here, etc. At least she got a 30 day extension on her license. It wasn't her fault of course, it just sucked.

Tonight though, we went to a KOSA social at Guadalajara Grill and that was a blast. We had a really nice dinner and a nice time with great company. Then we got coffee and came home and watched The Backup Plan. Very cute movie! She may be a diva but I like Jennifer Lopez's movies for the most part. I liked Maid in Manhattan, Enough and this one. And I'm not even a huge fan of romantic comedies, not that Enough was one of those but you get the picture.

Anyway, it turned out to be a nice Friday and hopefully an even nicer weekend. :)

Nubz Dental Treats

My dogs love treats but that's just silly because what dog doesn't? Nubz Dental Treats are from Nylabone and they have highly digestible natural ingredients; I think that's very important, especially with Blitz and his sensitive tum-tum. They also help clean your dog's teeth, promote fresh breath (what dog doesn't need a tic tac?), reduce tarter and help keep their gums healthy.

Not only are they made in the USA, Nubz are made with real chicken, with no added sugar, salt, or preservatives. I love that they're all natural and can help my dogs with a nice treat that is safe and easy on their tummies. They're also gluten free and get this, 18 Large size bones can break into 36 smaller treats so I can have a bigger treat for the twins and a smaller one for Swan!

You can find Nubz at Costco and if you're a Costco member you get a $3.50 coupon valid August 19th – September 12th (Hurry while supplies last).

Little Green Frog

For the past couple of months there have been 2 little green tree frogs that hang out on our front door. Every time we come home at night we gently had them move so they didn't get caught in the door. The other night an accident happened and somehow one got caught. I am very sad. I'm not sure why the poor little frog's death bothers me so much but it does. I guess because they had become so familiar and it was like we expected them to be there. Now there may or may not be the other one because we haven't seen it lately. I don't know if it fled from the house of horrors or just left but it saddens me that one got killed at our hands. :( Here's a picture of what they look like.

Reboost Your Cell Phone Choice

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Boost Mobile. All opinions are 100% mine.

Seems like nowadays (one of my old person words) that everyone has a cell phone. And if you have a cell phone you’re most likely doing social network updating like on Twitter and Facebook; I know I am. Well, with Boost Mobile you can have the convenience of paying online, in person or by phone, set up automatic withdrawals so you don’t have to worry about payments and have a friend or family member make a payment. Hey, I need to sign up for that one! Anyway, not only do they have awesome phones like the Blackberry, which I had before I went to an iPhone, Re-Boost let’s you choose the phone you want, pay for it and then make easy, low monthly payments. Believe me, I checked out the payment plans and they were really affordable. They even had features you normally pay extra for like unlimited web browsing and texting. They also have pay as you go but honestly, I don’t think you can really beat their monthly plans.

So if you’re still in the dark ages and don’t have a cell phone or don’t update on social networks, Reboost is perfect for you!

My First Drop/Add Ever

I just did my first drop/add ever since my entire college career and you all know how long that career has been! I accidentally took a forensics class again. The last time I tried to take forensics is was this huge disaster. Not only did I find out that it was a Masters Degree class, it also had tons of math and formulas and just a bunch of number badness. To my credit, I did make like a 50 in there so I was only half bad. It's the only class I have made less than a B or so in at Florida State. Okay, I might have made a C before but still. They did let me make it into a withdrawal so I don't have a failing grade on my record. So when I found out today I was sitting smack dab in the middle of forensics, I left after break, came home and dropped it. I added another class instead. I found some awesome classes that are independent study but I have to have permission for those and will wait till the spring to try to take one.

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Hampton Hotels. All opinions are 100% mine.

I need a vacation! I mean sure, we took one in January but that was because we had paid for it and was supposed to go in December but due to the weather, the port we were going to was closed. Long story short, we went in January instead. But since you can never have too many vacations, I’m ready for another one.

Right now, Hampton Chain of Friends Sweepstakes is giving away an entire hotel for a weekend for you and your friends. That’s right, the entire hotel! You get 100 rooms for 2 nights for a weekend. Another 100 first prizes are weekend stays for the winners and 3 of their guests. You can’t beat that! I mean really, an entire hotel? I’m picturing this whole “The Shining” type weekend but hey, that’s just me. Even better is that the winner also gets $5000 to help pay the tax for the weekend; it just keeps getting better. You can enter the Hampton Chain of Friends Sweepstakes but since I told you about it I think I should get to come on the trip with you. The form is a simple, one page entry with basic information, and then you’re all done!

School is Back in Session

I start school again today and I'm not thrilled. Don't get me wrong, I love my classes usually, I just hate going. Like today, I feel like I'm getting a cold or the flu but I have to go because it's the first day of school. I also have to go tomorrow because that is the first day of that class. I wonder sometimes if it's not in my head that I think I feel sick because I don't want to really go. Last night I felt feverish and hot and today my stomach feels all upset like when you have the flu. It's that exact feeling, all swimmy headed, etc. Oh well, nothing I can do about it so wish me luck.

This weekend can suck it

This week, or at least today has really sucked so far. I won't go into all of the details but we're waiting on a couple of payments then Monitronics took their money out of the bank so going to the movies is out now. I said we could grill out and use the pool tomorrow but now it's supposed to rain all day, so that's probably out. Along with a few other issues I am ready for this weekend to end. Then again, school starts next week (this week for most of you who will read this tomorrow) and I'm not ready to go back so next week can suck it too.

Things I'd Love

My list of things I'd love:

I'd love to look like Megan Fox

I'd love to win an Oscar

I'd love to be so rich that I get bored trying to spend it

I'd love to watch Pearl Harbor with my dad (he passed away in 2000)

I'd love to time travel or pick a day to relive whenever I wanted

I'd love to have a library in my home like my friend, Noah

I'd love to buy the Amityville house and live there (sans any bad spirits if they exist)

I'd love to live in the Bahamas without a care in the world

I'd love to hang glide without fear of falling

I'd love to have gone to Juilliard (which I have to look up to spell every time)

I'd love to see one huge snowstorm or just a nice one at least

I'd love to see the Northern Lights

I'd love to go on another cruise soon

I'd love to be a famous writer

With all that said, I am so thankful for all that I have and all that I have done.

Warning - Adult Storage!

Okay, this isn't a review about sex toys but a review on a place to store your sex toys! I recently got the Devine toy box pink corset storage container from Eden Fantasys and I love it. It is 9 1/2 inches long and 5 inches wide and deep enough to store about 4-5 toys. It also comes with a lock and two keys so you never have to worry about prying eyes. The box is quite attractive with a black leather looking outer shell and covered in pink satin with a criss cross tie. The inside is also a hot pink satin material. I spent a few minutes putting everything inside and deciding where to keep my keys.

I may write about adult matters but I like my privacy and a locking box is the perfect way that I can keep my toys a secret. Well, at least a secret in my home, I guess my blog is another story! The point is, if someone does go in my bedroom or has to use it then they can't plunder around. Not that many guests use my bedroom but hey, at least I'm covered. Anyway, I couldn't be more pleased with the product. I like how it looks and definitely what it's used for. I highly recommend this storage box for all of your fun playthings.

Vera Wang Shoes

I know some of you will hate these but I love them! I first saw them on some of the VH1 shows and then on Big Brother and while I'm not 20, I think you can wear nice shoes no matter what your age. Besides, I got carded 3 years ago!

Anyway, these are Vera Wang shoes and I got them at an unbelievable price. They were normally $59 or $69 (I'm too lazy to go get the box and look) We had a Kohl's $10 gift card and since Rich used the $10 JC Penny one, I took the Kohl's card.

These were on sale for $17.99. I think it's a summer markdown but I'm not sure since Kohl's had the most awful shoe display tonight with stuff all crazy stocked. Anyway, with the $10 off I got these for $7.99 and it was tax free day so I didn't even pay taxes.

Now I could try to impress you with my Vera Wang shoes but most people in this economy would rather read about a great deal rather than someone trying to be impressive and for now, my days of $80 shoes are on hold so I love getting a great bargain.

Ultimate Frisbee Videos

If you like to watch Ultimate Frisbee competitions (and who doesn't?) then you should really check out Discvideos. There is a gallery of Ultimate Frisbee highlights, videos and games. The site is clean and a real pleasure to view, with links to their Twitter and Facebook pages and plenty of Ultimate Frisbee links to make any fan ecstatic. You can even share pages on Facebook. I really enjoyed the Penn State Isis at 2010 Sectionals video. Check them out if you love anything dealing with Ultimate Frisbee!

What Would You Do?

I've been enjoying this show called What Would You Do? It has situations where people perhaps should intervene but what do people actually do when they don't know they're being watched? Some of the tests were things like seeing a hazing going on where the person is clearly in distress, girls (and boys) bullying another kid, a Muslim woman being refused service, an overweight person being taunted; you get the idea.

With some of the issues it's hard to know what to do or if you should interject but with most of them I really feel that I would step in. It was interesting to see that sometimes it took one person to say something before the others would step in as well. That whole group mentality thing was very present. The reason I feel I'd say something is well, I have a big mouth. I once saw a person hit their dog and if I'd been alone I'd went back and said something but I was in someone's car and they were worried that person could have a gun, etc. I was yelling, "Go back!" My point is, with my big mouth I might just pass their tests.

If you go to the site I linked above you can see some of the videos and tests they have.

Online Casino Games

I have to admit that when I go on vacation I like to play casino games. Whether it’s on a cruise or like the time we went to Biloxi, Mississippi and New Orleans, it’s really fun. Well, now you can play casino games online for real money! If you can’t get away to a casino, this is the way to go!

Sweet!

Some of you might recall all of the issues we've had with our phone, internet and cable lately. We've had major outages lately due to the wiring being exposed to the weather. So they'd fix things and then they'd tear up again and we'd lose internet and phone or our DVR box would tile the pictures, etc. You get the idea.

I kept complaining and finally called for my credit, which has to be issued after everything is fixed. They were supposed to call me back with the credit amount but I hadn't heard from them yet so I just called. They issued me a $226.04 credit! That's for a whole month of service. I was totally shocked. Usually you get like $6 or something but a whole month? How totally awesome!

Get a Master's Degree From Home

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of USC. All opinions are 100% mine.

I go to college but there are many times, okay most of the time, where I would much rather learn from home instead of heading to the classroom. Sure, I get to interact with the other students and my teacher but most of the time I’d rather put on some music and study in a pair of shorts, a t-shirt and no shoes. With USC Rossier School of Education’s program you can get a Master of Arts in teaching degree from your home! Not only that but it’s from the prestigious school, USC. Imagine being able to get the same education but be able to do it without having to go to school. Not only will you save time and money but you have the ability to learn at your convenience without having to worry about the weather, a babysitter or just not feeling well.

You get to become part of the USC Trojan family, you can get your degree in a year with their accelerated program, there are tuition reimbursements and scholarships available and you don’t have to travel to California to get it. In fact, you don’t even have to travel past your computer. I can’t imagine anyone that is interested in a teaching degree not taking interest in this and finding out more about the program information.

Eminem - Love The Way You Lie ft. Rihanna

So, what do you think of this controversial video? I actually love it. I like the music, I like the theme and I like watching Megan Fox. I may think she needs a filter on what she says but I have to admit she's freaking beautiful. Anyway, the song is awesome even if some are hating it due to the violence.

Living Room Furniture Choices

I love getting new furniture when I can afford to do so. There’s nothing like new living room furniture to make you feel special and that feeling you get when trying to decide on modern furniture, leather furniture, a sectional sofa or which color you’d like. The last set we bought we have really enjoyed but it’s almost time for another. Hopefully we can choose something we both like although that isn’t usually a problem. I’ve always wanted leather furniture but with the dogs I doubt that is a good idea. For now, I’ll stick with a nice blue set made out of that soft suede type material or maybe something in a rich chocolate. I have the blue set now so perhaps the chocolate would be a nice change.

Sleeping Habits

Someone got angry with me today because I was asleep when they kept calling. I have to wonder, should I feel guilty about my sleeping habits? You see, I work late at night because for one, I'm a night owl. But the other reason is that it's easier for me to get things done late at night. I can work on sites without distractions, I can do mp3's without the dogs barking or the phone ringing and I can do my freelance writing without worrying that someone will come to the door.

However, this means I sleep late in the daytime. Sometimes I'm up early but usually it's at least after 12 or 1 before I get up and sometimes even later.

So, should I feel guilty about when I choose to go to bed because it's unconventional to someone else or should I just say that it's my life and I can live it however I want?

Furniture Shipping

Have you ever seen a gorgeous piece of furniture online and purchased it only to find it damaged once it arrived? I haven’t had that problem with furniture yet but I sure have with a piece of exercise equipment. That’s why a company like GeoNet Express is important. They handle furniture shipping interstate and statewide so that furniture stores can direct their attention to sales and not have to worry about damaged items sent via UPS or FedEx. They take the worry out of selling and receiving furniture from a store where it has to be shipped to someone. I think everyone can appreciate that peace of mind.
