Stupid scales

I got happy today then not so happy. I've been sick, without going into details and figured I should have dropped a few pounds during said sickness. So I get on my scales today and I'd lost 18 lbs according to them. Well, I knew that sounded off because I'd have noticed an 18 lb loss. However, I figured it was off by a few. So R suggests I use the Wii scales. Well duh, I should have thought of that myself! So I excitedly get on those and lo and behold the others were wrong. I am the same exact weight. I was so sad. I mean what does it take? Surely this sickness hasn't helped one iota!

Oh well, time to worry about the dieting and all that in a few days. I found the most awesome seafood salad ever. It's at Pepper's Mexican Grill. It's lettuce, peppers, onions, a little cheese, scallops, crab and shrimp. I've never had a hot seafood salad and not only is it enough for 3 days of meals, it's delicious! Something to consider once I get rid of this holiday food.

One nice day

Well, we have one nice day of weather coming. On Thursday the high is supposed to be around 67 and I can't wait. I don't even care if it rains, I'm sick of this cold weather. Sure, since we're having a/c issues that we have to fix I shouldn't complain but I hate cold weather! I like being able to open up the windows and the doors and let the dogs go in and out and smell the fresh air. Well, one day of near-perfect weather is better than none so I'll take what I can get.

A new project

We decided on a new project. We're making pet memorials, leash holders and things like that. We have a few other things on the horizon but that's what we are starting with for now. I think it's a fun project so far and if none sell, at least it's stuff we can keep for ourselves.

We had a difficult time with certain craft items at first but once we got that part straightened out I think the stuff we've done so far (save one) has turned out gorgeous. I'll post pictures once we're ready for that stage. We just finished a few things tonight. I can't wait for everyone to see what we've done so far. :) I'll probably put them up on Etsy or something to see how it goes.

Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas with both of our families. The food was awesome and the company was even better. We got wonderful presents and our doggies enjoyed the gifts as well. Now I'm tired and ate too much but it was well worth it. I'm looking forward to a new year filled with prosperity and wellness. I hope you all had a great Christmas like us.

Christmas Lights

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Better late than never

We finally got the Christmas lights up. R put them all up today and the outside things and it looks awesome. I'll try to get him to take a picture to post. He did all the work. :) The funny thing is that the lights on the roof kept going out and he kept fixing them. Finally he saw the tiny print that said you can only string two sets end to end. I asked him how many he'd strung and he said five. LOL Now they're all working.

Lasik at Stahl Eye Center

You know, lately I really need glasses and I’m not too keen on this idea. I wore them when I was in elementary school and that’s enough. I’d love to get Lasik though. From what I hear, there’s no pain, you can see clearly in a couple of days and sometimes hours and it eliminates the need for contacts or glasses.

I’d love to be able to visit Stahl Eye Center where their doctors all graduated from places like UCLA, Johns Hopkins and Yale. They also have three locations in New York including Manhattan and Long Island. That’d also give me an excuse to visit NYC.

Doctor information available here.

Something I forgot

While we were on our it-didn't-happen vacation we had gone to the port and was being redirected to the civic center and got a little lost. We pulled into a parking lot and a guy came up to our truck and was asked where the civic center was. He said he'd tell us for $5. Now while we had that on us, you can imagine what R told him about that arrangement. I wonder if anyone actually paid to get directions. What a jerk!

Calling cards for when you're away

Sometimes you may find yourself needing a Prepaid International Phone Card. Whether it's because you are out of the country or you have family or friends out of the country it can come in handy.

I know when we go on cruises these would help out. It costs quite a bit to use your cell phone internationally so if I had international calling cards then I wouldn't have to worry about the cell phone bill once I get home. I can call everyone and let them know we made it.

So the next time we're in The Bahamas, Grand Cayman or Mexico, I think I'll check out the international phone cards from Union Telecard at an excellent price; as little as one cent per minute!

Regretsy + me = FTW (almost)

Regretsy just had a little contest and I made it to level 4.5 with two of my entries, which was only one step below winning. Suck on that level 4 through 1. I shall include my entries here, in all of their glory!

Misc stuff (movies, falls and more)

Saw Avatar today and loved it. Totally cool experience and thought the movie was phenomenal! On the way to the truck we'd got our Starbucks coffee and R went to get in and I tripped in the parking lot on a grassy type area and fell flat on my face. I figured he'd find me after me not getting in for a while. LOL Get this though, I didn't spill a drop of coffee. FTW! Anyway, I hurt my knee and got some road rash on my arm and now my poor back hurts too. Woe is me.

Tonight we watched Inglorious Basterds and that was good too. It was long and I'd have trimmed about 30 mins off but I liked it. R didn't like it too much though. Anyway, that's my day. Great movies, not so great at walking.

Avatar

I'm getting so excited. Just one more day till I can go see Avatar, unless I want to go at midnight. I haven't been this excited about a movie in quite some time. I even love the theme song done by Leona Lewis. Either way, you can bet I'll be getting my tickets tonight so we can go see it. I'll let you all know what I thought once we finally get to.

Our non-vacation

Well, we went to Mobile and when we got there we encountered the worst fog I've ever seen. You could not even see a foot in front of you. When we got to the port the next day we were given a flyer stating we should head to the convention center or civic center, rather. Turns out that the fog was too bad for a ship to dock and the port was closed. We spent hours and hours at the center awaiting word. No ship that night. They decided they'd try the next day and one port would be all that we'd go to. Since we were looking forward to going to Calica so we could visit Xcaret, we opted to get a free cruise instead of going on this one. So we came back home last night. It really sucked but I'd rather wait then go on a cruise to one port for 5 days. I did meet some cool people, too bad we couldn't have gone on with them but being only 3 hours from home helped make our final decision. Plus, we'd rather go on the full cruise. Perhaps we should consider Fractional Yacht Onwership next time and take our own boat. However, if the port is closed there is nothing you can do. I'm just glad we could be home so fast. We did encounter more fog and then this huge storm on the way home. This one tops our worst vacation ever list.

And we're off...

We're heading out tomorrow. I'll miss my doggies and birds (maybe the cat) and my own bed but can't wait to head to some sunshine and beautiful beaches. Everything can wait till we get home to fret over. This will be a very nice trip and I'm looking forward to it.

We finally got to finish season 5 of LOST. I loved it and can't wait for it to return. Let's just hope it "fits" this season or we'll have to wait to see it again. I personally still think it has a religious theme even though they said it was just time travel. Well why not both? Sort of a Dan Brown-type science meets religion. That's my guess anyway.

Oh and I passed my last test so I have B's for both classes. Not bad at all. :)

See you all when we return. I can e-mail if you need me, just no texting or social networking.

Almost Time

Well, we have just a few days before we go on our trip to Mexico. The house sitter is all set, alarm active, list made and much more to do. I need to get my hair and nails done before we go and we haven't even begun to think about packing. We're kind of last minute packers anyway. Tomorrow there's a few things to get done then Saturday we can pack everything and be ready to go. I like that there's not this huge hurry on Sunday since Mobile is like a 3 hour drive instead of the usual 6-7 hour drive down south. This will be a nice change, not to mention that when we get back we'll be home by noon. I really like that one. I took my last test today and all we have to worry about when we return is finishing up Christmas shopping and well, bills. But for now, all I care about is having a good time in what has been a lackluster winter for us and a lot of people. This trip was booked and paid for well before things like loss of jobs, our bank being sold or merged and that kind of economic nightmare. I'm glad though because for a week we can just worry about getting to our shore excursions on time and what to choose at dinner. (I hope they offer escargot again, I absolutely loved it last time after having never tried it)

Our Christmas Card

To everyone, here is our Christmas card this year. Swan is wearing a Snuggie because I had this idea of putting them all in Snuggies and saying, "The doggies were nestled, all snuggied in bed" but it didn't work out that way. However, Swan loves her Snuggie, which is a huge surprise.

Get electronics for as little as $1

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Bidazzled. All opinions are 100% mine.

Looking for a great deal? Want to help out charity? What if you could do both at the same time? Bidazzled is a site that was launched in November and offers savings up to 90% off of name brand merchandise and does all this while funding The Ruch Foundation, which is a charity created for lung cancer.

The type of auction base that is used is commonly known as penny auctions. What you do is purchase bids in advance. Bids cost $1 and once there are no more bids, the auction closes and you could very easily win electronics and more for just $1. They also have a nice program where no one loses. If you don’t win the item you get 50 bonus bids just for participating. Right now they have an awesome deal where if you register right now and use the code listed, you can get 15 additional bids and there’s no cost or obligation involved.
* Blog: BBP1202A
* Twitter: BTP1202A

Bids are purchased in packs as low as $25 for 25 bids. Not only that but you also get bonus bids for any packs you purchase. It’s a win/win situation for everyone and they also have a referral program where you get bids for telling your friends about them.

One down, one to go

I do believe I just aced one of my finals. Now I just have one more and I'm done till the spring semester. I had this coughing/allergy thing in class and had to leave for just a minute but that's not as bad as my friend at Starbucks. She has lost her voice and has an oral presentation in Spanish class tomorrow. Now that sucks! I hope the test I have Thursday is as easy as this one was for me.

What a storm!

We had the biggest storm last night and yesterday. This thing lasted all darn night too, with more rain to come. I actually thought of Noah and the Ark, it was that much rain. It did finally clear up today but more to come, albeit without the winds, etc. It's funny because someone mentioned that this was worse than any tropical storm we had this year and for us, they are totally correct. They closed schools in another county but they're open here. We had tornado warnings too. Thankfully we got none of those.

DeadGirl

I watched two movies today but the one I wanted to mention is DeadGirl. I thought it was really great but I read some of the reviews and it seems some people were offended. Well, what did you think you might see if it tells how some teenage boys find a naked girl in an abandoned hospital? The premise is that she is dead but keeps living. What I find particularly interesting is the psychological issues. How do people succumb to such horrifying peer pressure? This is something that you can use on any type of multiple person crime. You see it all the time; a group of people rob someone, hurt someone, kill someone. Well, how do they all decide to do it and how is peer pressure so strong that you would do something you wouldn't normally do on your own? Anyway, if you're not easily offended and love horror, this one is a must-see.

The weather

It sure is nice right now. Here it is 2 days before Thanksgiving and it's 65 outside. I can always remember each holiday and what the weather was like. I remember some Christmases being warm enough to open up the doors and some being really cold. Same with Halloween. Sometimes it was super nice outside and then some were chilly. Thanksgiving before last was neat. We'd all gone to Dirty Dicks for dinner and by the time we ate and went back to the truck the sky was a dark blue with the wind blowing pretty fierce. After it stormed it got cold but that day was one of the most perfect days for Thanksgiving. I do still hope we get some rogue snow when we go to Mobile for our cruise.

The gift of time

Watches are a great Christmas gift giving idea since they’re a piece that is timeless, pardon the pun. They’re something that will last forever for that special someone. Seiko Kinetic watches are an excellent choice since their technology converts movement into electrical energy. This means that you never have to replace a battery because the natural movements of your wrist keep your watch running. Imagine never having to worry about your watch going dead. Your loved one will love this feature in a new watch that you buy them. Seiko is the first company to create this technology and it has become a technology that is used in other watches as well.

I love giving special gifts like watches and jewelry for Christmas. A special piece of jewelry can make the recipient feel like they’re the most important person in the world. Not only that, some watches can become heirlooms that can be passed on to other family members. These watches never go out of style either. You could have a 40 year old watch that continues to go up in value and the Seiko Kinetic watches

Dangerous Donner

This is Donner. Isn't that face just adorable? Don't let it fool you! Last night I got maimed three times by him.

Once I got scratched on the arm really bad because I was playing with him and Blitz tried to butt in so he jumped real fast taking some flesh with him.

The second time wasn't a maiming but was just plain yucky. He'd been outside so when he came in I told him I was going to get his foot and brought it up to my mouth and it was dirty. I know, don't put things in your mouth that have been outdoors.

The third time was my fault but still... I had a roll of wrapping paper and stuck one end up to my mouth and the other at him and made a foghorn noise. This caused him to jump, sending the roll hard against my mouth. I figured three times and I'm out so no more playing with Donner last night.

Direct TV

I have a friend who recently got Direct TV and really likes it so far. I told him how I used to work at a satellite business and the pros of getting DirectTV; benefits such as all channels being digital, over 130 HD channels and being one of the first people to have television after a storm. With cable you have to wait till everyone is hooked back up but that’s not an issue with satellite.

My favorite thing about Directv is the DVR. With a DVR you can pause and rewind live television and record your favorite shows. I don’t know what I’d do without mine. We watch all of our shows via the DVR instead of live. I also like how you can enter your favorite people and the DVR will find shows for you. You can even record two shows at once and that has to be my favorite thing of all, especially with conflicting shows that I want to see both of.

They even give you a DVR scheduler so you can record on the go. Now how cool is that? Best of all, you can get over 150 digital channels for just $29.95 a month. See if you can get that kind of price with cable and I guarantee that you can’t.

Thanksgiving

I love the holidays. What is everyone doing for Thanksgiving? I know we're going out to dinner with Rich's family but we usually cook our own dinner as well. I saw a neat recipe on Food Network that had turkey breast and stuffing put into an eggroll and fried. It looked yummy but since I make an awesome turkey and R makes this spectacular stuffing, we will probably stick to that this year and try the eggrolls sometime just as a regular dinner.

ShopWikiUK for great deals

ShopWikiUK is a great new way of shopping for the lowest priced items. First of all, ShopWikiUK is really cool because a lot of search engines put ads up of places that have paid them but ShopWiki doesn't work that way. They find every store online by crawling the pages like Google. This way you get better savings, not just a site that paid to have you see their ad.

Now you can find anything you want at the lowest price including sale prices. So if you’re looking for women’s complete outfits or even women’s fashion trends, you can find it at a price you can afford and not get weighed down by ad after ad that won’t even save you money in the long run.

I need some new clothes for the cruise in December so I think I’ll try ShopWiki just to see what savings I can find.

Organic Milk

I mentioned this on Facebook but I wanted to blog about it as well. I have discovered organic milk and now I'll never drink regular milk again if I can help it. It's more expensive but it's so worth it. I got the Organic Valley brand and thought I'd try the 2% milk since R doesn't like whole milk. Well, their 2% milk tastes like whole milk, it's that good! Not only that, organic milk lasts way longer than regular milk. You can keep it as long as a month since they process it differently. That helps with the cost since there's not as much wasted milk. However, I doubt we'll ever waste this stuff since the taste is out of this world. Plus, it's better for you. Try some of it. Get one of the small little cartons at Starbucks or wherever if you're not sure.

Win a VIP recording experience

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Popstation. All opinions are 100% mine.

PopStation is this awesome music experience online where you can climb to the top of the charts and get an album deal. There are all types of songs available in what is called practice rooms. Not just one genre either; you can pick hip hop, rock or country then make the song all your own. Once your song is entered it is then voted on by regular people. Now here is the cool part. Every three months the artist voted #1 will win a huge prize. If you win you get a paid three night stay at a New York City hotel, you’ll be picked up by a luxury vehicle and taken to a real, professional recording studio and get to record your own album. Not only that but you even get a professional production team. Now who wouldn’t want that?

After you’re all done with your new album it’ll be featured on the artist’s page for everyone to see. You get final mixing, post-production and even the design of it. Just imagine a VIP recording experience with a crash course in the music industry. Most people wait years if not forever for this type of opportunity and all you have to do is go enter.

Why is it...

...that when people get mad at you they use the most dirty and immature things they can think of to say? I mean, really! I'm talking about professional business people too. I had a disagreement where I ended a professional relationship and instead of moving on, this person started to try to play dirty. I find it somewhat amusing since they acted like some kind of "I know everyone and I'll tell" kind of game but maybe they were shocked when I knew a little something too. :) My point is, don't assume you can one-up someone because they just might have the upper hand. Keep that in mind, vaguely referenced person. And just so you know, I had the most delicious time writing this with a huge grin on my face. (and I labeled this post stupid people)

Darn you, Wii

I got a Wii a little while back. It was a great gift from a customer. Anyway, I'm using Wii Fit but also like to play games and especially ones we can play together. So I was able to get Wii Sports Resort and it has a motion sensor for one controller. Well, who knew that you could not put the motion sensor on a non-Wii brand of remote? You can but you can't use the nunchuck with it. So, we had to take back the controller we'd bought extra and order an official Wii controller and nunchuck, which was more expensive. I love the system but it seems you have to get another part each time you get a new game. Oh well, it'll be fun once we have the new remote.

All you have to do is set a price, add a category and keywords and just sit back and relax. Advertisers can contact you when they want something tweeted and pay you to do it. It doesn’t matter if your Twitter account is big or small; everyone can make money doing this. The economy

The economy sure needs to get better. I was just reading in the paper the other day about local stores that have closed and there were a few I didn't even realize had gone. Between people getting laid off and no one having money it sure is bad. I am determined to keep my thoughts positive and know that it will get better. I keep hearing it is but not seeing a lot of progress. However, I know personally that things will work out. That's all we can do, know that the best is yet to come. Of course, tell that to someone who lost their job or is behind on their mortgage or lost a business. I sure wish it were two years ago. Now that was a good year!

Soup, anyone?

I have to say that I love cooking for Thanksgiving. I honestly make an awesome turkey too! Ask anyone. Today I saw something neat though. It was turkey and stuffing egg-rolls. I might actually try it. Regardless, I usually do a turkey, R makes this out of the world dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy and dinner rolls. However, I love soups so I was thinking I should add a soup course sometime. They have these awesome Soup Bowl Sets that would go perfectly with the soup I decide to add. I’m not sure what kind yet but I recently tried this soup that was Portobello and Button Mushroom Crème Soup with Walnuts and it was divine. I might add something like that. I can even get some new Kitchen Scoops too!

Post Apocalyptic (PA) books

I just read a really bad PA book. I'm not sure whether to state the name or not since if it was his first book ever then it was okay but if he's a seasoned writer then not so good. Okay, it was Deep Winter. I had read these awesome reviews but honestly, I didn't like it much at all. In fact, I sped read through the last half while waiting for our tires to be rotated.

Here are my favorites:

One Second After
Swan Song
The Stand

I liked The Road okay but the movie looks pretty darn good. I just didn't think it was the Pulitzer Prize winner it became to be.

Jon's new video

I recently saw the Jon Gosselin video he did on Live or Die Funny where he goes back in time. He gets rid of his Ed Hardy stuff and takes out his earrings and redoes his hair, etc. I thought it was pretty funny but I still think he's a jerk.

My point is, I still like Ed Hardy stuff. I'm not sure when it became uncool to some people but I kind of like it. I don't wear many of the shirts but I do still have the sunglasses and love the shoes.

Check out some of the Ed Hardy clothes and accessories that you can get. I am going to keep my stuff because no one ever said I was cool anyway. LOL

A good day

Today started out rather yucky. I couldn't sleep and was up early but then went back to bed and got some much needed rest. After I got up there was a book signing by Mike Huckabee that I wanted to attend so we headed off to Pier Park. I got my book signed and met him then we ate some dinner/lunch. We then waited around to see 2012 and I loved it. Sure, it's FX overload but you all know how much I love that. Great movie for entertainment value and highly recommended. Then we finally left and got coffee in town because Starbucks on the beach can't stay open past a 3 year old's bedtime for some reason. All said and done we were at Pier Park for like 5 hours. The movie itself was almost 2 and a half hours. Either way it turned out to be a wonderful day. Got some website stuff done for Facebook pages for clients, watched some TV (Dexter was awesome) and now just hanging out.

Worst day in a long long time

We've had the worst day! The tree fell so we had PawPaw out to cut it up for us. During that time I had the cat make a mess, one dog make a mess then Blitz vomited up about a gallon for me. My back was killing me so I had gotten up at 9 AM and decided to lie down for about an hour at around 3 PM. During this hour R lost his job and called me and my uncle died and I had calls from that. I am honestly not sure how it can get worse but I won't say that out loud in case it does. Gonna have to put a huge amount of "The Secret" out there to get things back on track. We also have our trip in Dec which is paid for so we can't get a refund if we decide not to go. Oh, what to do, you know? I know things will work out, they always do.

Our first storm casualty

This was taken a couple of hours ago. We actually heard the limb tearing off.

Aren't you a little late, Ida?

This is the view earlier today.

Seems we have a little hurricane headed this way. Right now it looks like it's going to the Mobile, AL area and hooking over although earlier it was hooking much lower, which would have it pass through us. It's a category 2 so it's not a biggie. Probably just get some wind and rain. It's just so late in the season that it's pretty surprising.

An inperfect day

I think because yesterday was a perfect day that the universe has to balance out or something. Today, not so perfect. I woke up at 9:00 AM with a cold and you all know that if I'm up that early then I am sick or on vacation and I'm not on a beach in Mexico. So I'm sick enough to go to bed later and fall out but then the mailman rings the doorbell and wakes me back up. We went to pick up some medicine, etc and when we got home the front door handle was broken. It's like a thing you turn down instead of a knob. We had to unlock the privacy fence and go through the back yard. We were then literally locked in our house until R took the handle off to be replaced. So my perfect day beget this imperfect sucky day. I can't complain though and my cold is subsiding.

Oh and I forgot about blogging about Dead Snow. This movie freaking rocks. I watched it the other day with R and he even liked it and he hates subtitles. It's from Finland and it's about these snow skier med students that camp out at this place where these Nazis were killed. The Nazis are zombies and let's just say it was the bloodiest movie I have ever seen and the most use of guts ever. But, even if that's not your thing the snow was absolutely breathtaking, the zombies breathed super loud in stereo and it was creepy and it was just awesome. I rated it a 5/5 and it is now one of my favorite foreign horror movies ever. Click the link and view the trailer.

Find anything at the best price

SHOP.COM has awesome finds on the perfect deal. Recently I was looking at shower curtains and found exactly what I was looking for there. R’s bathroom is the yellow rubber ducky motif (yes, mixing motif with yellow ducky just isn’t right somehow) and we’re always on the lookout for a new design. I found more than one design on their list of shower curtains. Not only that, I can find almost anything from Kohls Bedding to Chris Madden Comforters, and you know how I love my comforters. They give you the best deal online no matter what store it comes from and without paid advertisements that might find you something at a higher price just because it was a paid ad. How can you go wrong with that?

Various stuff

If I even see a dust bunny I start coughing but a guy has 11 bodies decaying in his house? Go figure that one.

If any of you watch Nip/Tuck, the part with Rose McGowan tonight (Teddy) I said, what if that guy is....(left blank if someone watches it and hasn't yet). If you have seen it, I figured that out and was right. What a blast that episode was.

I am the proud owner of a Wii, Wii Fit Plus and The Biggest Loser package. It's for Christmas and I had a nice customer that gave me an Amazon Gift Certificate so that's how I got it. Otherwise I'd have to save up since we have our trip to Mexico coming up shortly. I can't wait to get it but I'm not opening it or else I'll have it now and not much for Christmas. R jokes that I'll put up anything for Christmas so if he buys socks he'll ask if it's for Christmas since around this time till then, I'm putting up stuff we buy. Too funny.

I'm still putting my "The Secret" stuff to work and it's working. A friend was teasing me today about it and kind of making fun but if it's working for me then I'm not gonna mock it. So there! :)

Halloween and Saw VI

A friend asked me to blog about Saw VI so I'll add it into my Halloween post. Okay, so that's what we did, go see Saw VI. R had to work today but it was a nice day. It was 66 most of today but by tonight it got a little chilly. Much better than the near 90's we had during which our a/c was broke.

We had dinner at this new pizza place but I really wasn't impressed. It was okay but nothing great. I said I didn't want sauce in my calzone and was told that that kind doesn't have sauce but when I got it, you guessed it...sauce. The mushrooms were great though so I have to give them credit for that.

Saw VI was really good but I love all of them anyway. This one added a really neat story and some back story as well, which is always good. The Saw franchise can get really confusing I admit but this one helped out a bunch. The gore was pretty much in tune with what it usually haves although the first scene was pretty intense. I'd give it a 7 or an 8. Maybe the 8 if some parts had been more lit up or not in fast mode. Still loved it though.

Portobella Burgers

Okay, I got this idea off watching The Biggest Loser last night. R makes the best burgers that are stuffed with bleu cheese. Last night I'm watching Loser and they used portobella mushrooms instead of buns. We got some tonight and tried it and it was out of this world. The juices from the mushroom really add to the flavor of the beef. Now keep in mind on Loser they used turkey for the meat but I haven't quite gotten to that level of commitment yet. LOL

Gold Coins

If you're interested in adding to and preserving your investment portfolio, then you should check out what you can do with gold coins. Gold has had value and performed throughout history and with every civilization. No other investment has outperformed gold in the last decade and that includes everything from real estate to stocks and bonds.

Gold buillion is a precious metal that is considered "liquid" so you can convert your bullion as easy as a phone call and do it in minutes. So you can rest assured that you can make a decision and have it implemented as fast as possible. So if you are looking for an investment that you can count on gold coin is the investment to consider.

I know if I were looking to invest in a product, I'd feel more secure knowing that the product was something that always had value to it; especially in a changing market and economy.

Chinese Proverb question

A friend on Facebook used this proverb and it's beautiful but what does the last part mean? The part with the dragon. Does anyone know? And yes, I've googled to no avail.

To attract good fortune, spend a new coin on an old friend, share an old pleasure with a new friend, and lift up the heart of a true friend by writing their name on the wings of a dragon.

I made a Facebook page for R's site so feel free to become a fan or just visit his site. :)

Did some things and missed a few others

I added a couple of new things to my blog. I finally found a cloud tag I liked. I like the java ones best but not sure if Blogger supports that so I decided to just do the HTML one. I think I have to keep updating that one though. I also added a live feed widget instead of the other one I had. This one is neat because it tells me where they came from such as another blog, etc.

Funny I should be doing this since I have a zillion things to work on. I finally finished the KOSA newsletter but I also have a site to work on, to study for an exam, a cart I'm doing for a site, etc. This didn't take long and I really like it so that's a good thing.

Right now it's pouring outside which means I didn't get to pick up the dog toys outside before the bad weather. I have it on my list and was going to do it tonight in a few minutes but I missed out. :( Luckily I think their new Hide-A-Bee toy is inside sans a few of the bees but they had some other new toys that may or may not be out in the rain. Maybe I can run out there and toss them under the gazebo before they get really soaked. At least then they can dry some.

The Day the Earth Stood Still

All I can say is, "NOOOOOOOO!" to the ending. Okay, so I had heard this sucked but I'm a sucker for special effects and doomsday movies. I watched it and it was okay I suppose. The kid was annoying, Jennifer Connelly played the cliched "gorgeous" scientist and of course there's Keanu Reeves' acting. I conquered all of that till it started getting preachy. Supposedly we are destroying earth so the aliens will wipe us out to save the planet. Here's a spoiler but since most of you have seen it, don't care or whatever, I'm going to ruin the ending. Okay, the aliens decide that we can all live because we can change so they don't kill us all but wait for it, they leave us with what equals a giant, worldwide EMP. Now we all know what happens during an EMP: no electricity, no cars, no technology at all. Yay aliens! Guess what? The world is now screwed and they might have just killed us mercifully instead. No technology means all the planes in the sky fall, all the medical equipment fails, no heating, no cooling, no transport for medicine and you guesses it, no food transport. Multiple worldwide accidents with no way of fixing things. So they screwed us after all. That had to be one of the worst endings I've ever seen in a movie that was semi-watchable. I give it a huge thumbs down just for that crap ending and thinking we're too stupid to realize what an EMP would actually do to civilization. Here's some really cute WTF moments from the movie.

Awesome mascara

I found the most awesome mascara. It's that vibrating kind. LOL I've been wanting to try it so tonight we were at Walmart (yeah yeah, we're always there but I needed some medicine) and they had it on an end cap. It's pricey for store mascara but when I got home I tried it, like I always do with new makeup and OMG it looks like I have fake eyelashes on now. Anyway, it's by Maybelline and this stuff rocks. It's better than any department store mascara I've had, better than anything. Try it if you want some awesome lashes. I hope they keep it or I'll have to buy a ton of it and stock up.

Fridays

I like Fridays. Most people like them because they are the end of the work week but since I work at home, I have other reasons. Fridays mean that I have no school and can take a "me" day. Now this day might mean I clean up or do things that need to be done but there are no schedules, no places I have to be, etc. You get the idea. So while you're all enjoying your Fridays I'm enjoying mine as well. Now I just have to get to that mopping that is on my to-do list. Maybe Saturday is a better day!

The perfect blog post

Last night I had this perfect blog post I wanted to write. It was semi-controversial, it was insightful and serious. I did not write it down. That reminds me of Sunday's Mad Men episode where it was said, "The lightest ink is better than the brightest memory." Had I written it down I'd have this post up by now. I was in bed though, and just knew I'd remember. I'm fighting off a cold and I'll use that as my excuse. I think all of the vitamins I take and using the neti pot really helps because I know I'm sick, yet I don't feel as bad as I should. On the plus side, this is day 2 of no back pain. Not sure why but I am thrilled!

Neti Pot

I finally got a Neti pot. I'd heard how great these are but was always scared to use one. I don't like water up my nose or anything like that so I figured, "No way!" However, I just kept hearing more and more how easy they were to use so I said I'd try it. I got one last night and after carefully reading how to use it I took a chance and tried it. Heck, who knew it'd be that easy to use? I didn't even realize it was working at first and had to check. I thought I was doing it wrong and the water was coming from where I was pouring it. Nope, it was pouring out of my other nostril. LOL Now if it helps with allergies and stuff I'm a true believer because if I can use it, anyone can.

Free isn't always best

Sometimes you can be offered free business cards but will be charged for every single upgrade you do. Keep in mind that upgrades and high shipping costs means that your “free” cards aren’t that free at all. With 123print you get to choose from 1000’s of designs instead of just a few “free” ones. You also won’t see their logo on your cards, which tells businesses that you got free cards from somewhere. That doesn’t leave a very good impression now does it? Not only that, they also carry postcards, banners, address labels and anything pertaining to showing off your business. Check them out and see why “free” isn’t always the best way to save money.

The power of positive thought

Lately I've really been a believer of the power of words and thought. Okay, so I also ordered The Secret but I haven't gotten it yet. I just know that words can come true and I believe in positive thinking and its ability to change things. This week I started saying that work would pick up and I'd do well. Let's say that things went from a certain amount to quadruple that and my work week that I use isn't over. I'm talking a huge change. Sure, it could be coincidence but I have not had a week this good in months and I believe the power of thinking it will happen and believing it will happen really works. Now obviously you might not can think that you will win the lottery or everyone would do this but I do believe changes in your own life with yourself as the primary source...that works. What do you think?

Search engine for pets that need homes

There are so many pets that need a good home so if you’re looking to adopt a pet then try Petango. With Petango.com - Adopt a cat! or a dog! It’s easy to use too. They have a real-time searchable database so you always know which pet is available and the pets are housed at reputable shelters, which is very important. Criminal Minds

I hear some people talk about how dark this show is. You all know it's my favorite but last night it did have a show that I consider quite depressing as well. It was about this group of guys who kill just for fun. I find that scarier than a serial killer because usually they have a motive but guys who do the other do not. It wouldn't matter who you were and there'd be no reasoning with them either. I found that show most unpleasant to watch even though I loved it. So what do you find the most scary? I mean killers, not anything supernatural cause we all know clowns are my archilles heel. I mean, they're not supernatural but they're evil.

Insurance quotes

Everyone needs insurance and yakima insurance is the place to check out. You can get competitive quotes from your local insurance agencies if you live in Washington, Oregon or Idaho. You can get quotes from all of the most popular insurance agencies such as Travelers and Progressive. Not only can you find house insurance quotes but you can also find insurance for renters and automobile insurance. It’s like your one stop shopping area. You can even get commercial insurance for your business. What better way to find the best rate than getting multiple quotes from one easy place? Check them out if you live in those states and get the best rate possible.

Allergies?

Not feeling well today but I think I found the culprit. I put this throw on my bed that is filled with feathers. I guess it's a down throw. Anyway, R started coughing this morning too after moving it. Darn those feathers. That sucks because I love down. I have down comforters and speaking of which, two birds. Oh well, I'll learn to live with it but will definitely move that throw out.

Payday loans

If you’re looking for fast cash in minutes then you can try cash advance loan services. I have to admit that I have used them in the past and they’re great for when you are short on cash but know that you can pay it back when it’s due.

Sometimes life throws things at us that we did not expect. From car emergencies to unexpected medical bills, sometimes a few hundred dollars can mean all the difference in the world. When you get a cash advance, you can rest assured that the emergency is taken care of. What’s great is that you can apply online from the comfort of your home.

There’s no faxing required and no credit check and best of all, no one in person that you have to deal with. You can get up to $1500 overnight and instant approval. You can’t do better than that. Plus, it’s much easier than going somewhere in person and waiting in line to apply for a loan. You can get a loan that you don’t have to pay back from between 14 to 31 days so you have plenty of time to pay it back. Get your confidential payday loan today and have peace of mind.

Just having a little stick figure fun

I can't draw so to showcase my lack of artistry, I drew this for fun. PS Blitz is fine now, something upset their tummies earlier.

BeWeather Blackberry app

We were able to open up the windows again. It's 70 outside right now, which is a nice change from the 80-90's it's been lately. I got this cool Blackberry app that has weather called BeWeather and you can add other locations as well as your home location. So I added places we've been like Cozumel, the Bahamas, Grand Cayman, New Orleans, etc. It was hotter here than in those places! Anyway, this BeWeather app rocks. I love finally having a dependable weather app and R helped figure out how to get the icons on our front screen so now I have that, FaceBook, my mail, etc all on the front like an iPhone (just one row though instead of the whole thing). Check it out if you have a Blackberry, it's really neat and worth the $10 although you can periodically check and they usually put it on sale for half the price.

Cryo-Cell breast cancer donations and research

Cryo-Cell is a company that specializes in harvesting stem cells from menstrual blood. It’s a process that can be done at home and is easy to do but is a decision that can save your life. Recently, they have launched a campaign aimed to help with breast cancer awareness since October is the month for that. Most people know someone affected by breast cancer and this is an issue close to my own heart since my mother is a survivor.

Cyro-Cell Breast Cancer Donation is a partnership with the National Institute of Health to research the possibility of using menstrual stem cells to help with breast cancer treatment. Menstrual blood is an excellent source of stem cells and it’s easily obtained, with no discomfort to the self-donor. Right now they are even offering contributions to the Susan B. Komen Foundation by giving $50 for each purchase of the “Protect Baby, Protect Mom” service and $25 for each service with the “C’elle Menstrual Stem Cell.”

I’d like to encourage everyone to check this service out and learn more about C'Elle Breast Cancer Donation and research. Not only can it save a life, it’s a process that a lot of people may not be aware of.

Hot tub

Well, R cleaned out the hot tub and got it ready to use again but it seems we have a GFI problem with how it was installed so hopefully we can fix that and use it. It sucks since I'd been looking forward to using it soon because my back still hurts but now I'll have to wait. It's funny because we kept telling the place that installed it that the breaker was popping, etc and they kept saying it was our house wiring but we had that checked and it's not. They installed the GFI but it's out of warranty now. R says it just has to be reinstalled so that should fix it.

Find anyone

When I think back to a mentor or teacher that really helped me out when I was a child, I think of Miss Pope, my elementary school teacher. With MyLife you can find anyone you have been searching for with just a few simple clicks.

They’re America’s number one people search and you can even find out people who have searched for you. You can reconnect with people you haven’t seen for years, stay in touch with current friends and family and get together with old relationships or new ones. Unfortunately, my teacher has passed away but I was able to find a professor that means a lot to me: Professor P (full name hidden in case he doesn’t want it posted). I was able to find his profile and then connect with him on another social site as well as MyLife. If not for MyLife, I might not have found him at all.
The point is it’s wonderful to locate old friends, family members and classmates you’ve lost touch with along the years. With MyLife you have access to over 750 million profiles and that’s a lot!

Why not try them out and find that special someone you’ve been wondering about? They will even notify you if there is an update on a search you had no luck with. You can’t beat that kind of service.

Styx Concert

R's brother got us tickets to the Seafood, Wine & Music Festival so we got to see Styx in concert. That was one great concert. R took some awesome pictures but I'll have to post those once I edit them. Great zoom lens though. The weather was hot at first but it did cool off some and we had a nice breeze. They played from 9 pm till almost 11. What sucks is that we had just enough time to run to Starbucks at Pier Park and they were closed. Why does every other SB stay open till 11 pm and that one, which is a busy area, closed at 10? We ended up getting coffee at McDonalds and came home. We had some yummy seafood at the festival. I had scallops and crab claws and R had alligator and scallops. More to come once we post the pictures.

Win a kitchen makeover

Right now you could get a kitchen makeover with Maple Leaf Market if you are a Canadian resident. You can enter every day for an opportunity to win a $32000 kitchen makeover or one of 12 Frigidaire refrigerators.

With the new Maple Leaf Market experience, you can find everything from easy meals, recipes, coupons, contests and tips to help you out around the kitchen. It’s even in English and in French to make it user friendly. I loved how it is an interactive site. I first visited the butcher and got to see some trade secrets with a virtual butcher. There’s also the baker and pasta maker where you can do the same thing; view totally cool tips and tricks. The meals made easy area also has a virtual cook so you can view the easy to make meals. This site rocks!

This awesome contest is a celebration of launching their new site. Think about it; what would you do with a $32000 kitchen makeover? You could have the top of the line appliances, custom cabinets and more. The sky is the limit pretty much. If you are a Canadian resident you really should check this out. Besides, what do you have to lose?

Article from a friend

A friend of mine posted an article about land vacations vs cruises and I thought it was great. I'm posting it here so everyone can read it. Well, the link is what I am posting but please do go read it. It's fun, not too long and very informative! Great job, Donna.

No more offers

I am no longer going to purchase things online or on TV that have a free trial, etc because every single one of them screws it up. Out of the last 5 items I have purchased, each one has either not sent the product but took my money or sent the product but took the full amount out all at once instead of the payments they promised to take out in increments. I've spent the last hour on the phone with a company that not only didn't send it but keeps disconnecting me when I call. I am beyond annoyed and will be going to the bank Friday or Monday to have my debit card changed and this charge removed. Can you tell that I'm very angry? Add to that not getting any sleep last night and you have the perfect storm.

Prepaid debit cards

If you have bad credit or even no credit at all then a prepaid visa card could be the right option for you. With NetSpend, you can make purchases anywhere you please; online, at the mall or even use it to fill your tank with gasoline. NetSpend is one of the leaders in reloadable prepaid debit cards. Best of all, there’s no credit check, no overdraft fees, no interest charges and can have your paycheck deposited directly into your account. It’s as easy as that. Why worry over overdraft charges with a regular debit card when there are no worries with NetSpend?

Zombieland

If you’re like your zombie movies with a little humor, then you’ll love Zombieland. The movie centers around four main characters; Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) who end up working as an unlikely team of zombie killers. Each has their own agenda. While the two sisters Wichita and Little Rock don’t trust the two guys, neither do the two guys trust them. What starts out as an unlikely motley crew, ends up as an even more unlikely friendship. Zombieland is full of laughs and I found myself awaiting each “kill” with anticipation.
The definitive face-off takes place at an amusement park and it’s a showdown that is one enormous thrill ride, no pun intended. The movie is rated R for a reason. There’s plenty of adult language and more blood and gore than you can imagine. However, if you like horror movies and want to see something unique, Zombieland is a must-see. I rate this one 4 stars out of 5.

Sea creatures

Today we had a sunset memorial to attend at the country pier. I didn't know the deceased but R works with her husband. It was a beautiful ceremony. What is odd is that we saw (not all at the same time) a sea turtle, sting rays, sharks and a dolphin. I've seen all but the sea turtle in the past. I've never seen a big sea turtle at the beach so this was particularly amazing. The one time we don't bring a camera there was a double type rainbow effect, the sea creatures, an awesome moon over the beach image and the sunset. I was expecting magical fairies at any minute just because we had no camera with us. They poured out her ashes in the Gulf and then each person threw in a yellow rose. It was a beautiful service.

I'm tired

I really am. I had a test today at school, then we had to pick up a few things at the store. While I didn't have class till late afternoon, I woke up after about 6 hours of sleep and I'm one of those "9 hours of sleep" people. I never did take a nap either. So I might not get everything done tonight that I had hoped since I feel really tired right now. At least it's the weekend and I can take it easy some.

Get rid of ugly, get some cool prizes

LG has an awesome contest that’s totally fun. Even better is that it’s very simple to enter. Just go to the LG Bliss Facebook Fan Page and become a fan of them. Once you do that then you just have to upload a video or picture of something you consider ugly and want to part with.

Once you submit your image or video you are entered to win the grand prize: a brand new LG Bliss phone. Second place winners will win a $50 gift card. There will be five grand prize winners and fifty second place winners so you might just get lucky!

The rules are simple and this is one of the easiest ways to enter a prize giveaway. Two steps and you could be the proud owner of this awesome LG Bliss phone or one of the gift cards.

Check out the Gallery of the Utterly Ugly and see some really ugly things such as:
• Trashy Trends (fabulously ugly fashion)
• Mutant machines (these mutant machines and outdated electronics belong in the junkyard)
• Ugly wonders of nature (naturally occurring wonders that make even the ugly tree look good)
• Ugly-mobiles (rides that are heading non-stop to Ugly Town)

I tried to find something ugly for my own post but if it’s ugly, I’ve already gotten rid of it or hid it away.
